An incredibly obnoxious business. Once they have your email address they will not stop bombarding you with messages. 6 months of attempts to unsubscribe from their rubbish. They require you to ‘opt out’ individually on each of their 50 or more of invented categories of messages. I was finally able to stop the messages late last year and guess… Read more

what ….. they have now ignored the opt out and started them again. I strongly recommend you do not have anything to do with this business.

I contributed to a post and Marie T responded very rudely that I should read the posts more thoroughly because my opinion had already been stated. I responded that I was just having my say and she responded that I was petulant , then cut my subscription off. Very, very sad Marie!

Follow-up  · My post was about providing my experience at a particular vet clinic. I stated that the service was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Marie argued that someone else already posted that the service was bad, and said I should read the whole article before commenting

This app is too far left wing leaning. People with a different opinion to the left get bullied and harassed and if you give a diplomatic answer with no hate speech in it you are likely to be warned by nextdoor bots. That you now have to give facial recognition before you can get access is laughable. Also, they have banned under 16s. Most of them were kids just looking for work. I cannot support a biased app like this.

Nextdoor App is a Danger to Consumers and Society – AI-Checked Versionai logo Nextdoor is the most insane platform I've ever utilized. It doesn't allow transparency or both sides of views of recommendations for businesses. No one is allowed to give a true review which is not glowing. It doesn't stop users from threatening violence upon others, harassing others, and it allows discrimination of the… Read more

disabled. If someone gives a review which is truthful and states issues with a business, Nextdoor removes the review and states it's disrespectful or public shaming. This platform is so left-wing liberal insane, there is limited transparency and consumers are being given false information that businesses are good when they are in fact not. They vet and verify businesses, one of which I worked for, called Annabelle's Pet Care out of Gloucester, MA. The owner, [Name Removed], is outright committing tax evasion and participating in organized white-collar crime. On top of it, there is consumer/employee fraud; she lies, claiming she is insured and bonded when her twenty employees are not. Only she is. Nextdoor knows and still allows her to promote her business and look for more employees to endanger there. It's a disservice to society and needs to be closely monitored by the authorities and the FCC. It definitely takes kickbacks and protects bad businesses

Totally biased moderation – We just had a Referendum in Australia. I ensured that I posted information that came from official government sources so there was no misinformation and I monitored the comments closely to ensure there weren't any toxicity (if commenters were toxic with swearing and the like, I just flagged those particular commenters so they could get removed… Read more

instead of my whole post). I got two of my posts removed (one was just highlighting the cost of the Referendum the day before it!). After several excuses as to why (they verified my posts itself weren't violating policies but claimed that commenters were - which I proved to them that it wasn't the case), they said that we weren't able to say any "rebuttal" with regards to "equality" in Australia, which confirms their bias. I always ensured I wasn't toxic but always was able to defend myself with reputable sources. The "other" ("Yes") side however, was constantly attacking, and often spreading misinformation, yet they weren't removed. The fact that there was over 60% "No" in our referendum, decided in less than 1.5 hours, yet this platform was filled with much more "Yes" votes posts, also confirms the bias (and I saw many other "No" posts getting taken down too). I was actually going to leave the matter (after leaving a couple of comments about this bias on other people's posts) but I just got my account removed from their whole system for not using a full first and last name as that was against their policy. I did actually write a first and last name, but I hadn't "verified" them. There were MANY people who simply used a first name with no last name whatsoever, yet they still remain. I have seen a few other people's comments that experienced similar bias to me and also others that they are unable to "unsubscribe" from notifications so this may be a good thing that my account was disabled but the reasons behind it was totally biased. Do NOT recommend you use this platform unless you're just trying to find tradies in your local area - though tradies are often just using it for advertising too, so not sure if they are good or not or help locating lost pets and the like. This could have been an excellent platform if not for the bias moderation.

Take a look at NextDoor reviews from all over the world in other review platforms. My experience was similar to theirs in terms of bias in moderation.

p.s. I have edited this post to attach my second post that was removed from the NextDoor. Let others decide if this was in any way deserved to be taken down.

Not surprised by low reviews – While Nextdoor appears to be more than happy to send me constant notifications to my email, some up to 20 a day, when I try and reset my password (even though I KNOW the one I'm using is correct, keeps rejecting) it doesn't recognise the email that it's sending the notifications to! it's extremely frustrating to say the least and there's… Read more

absolutely no way I can contact 'Support' unless I can sign in and/or reset my password! I also can't get help from their community for the same reason! I've had to put up with not being allowed to stay a member of my last neighborhood (that's only 2 km away) even though I have business dealings in the area and am needing to be up-to-date with what's going on there, I pushed on regardless even though it's been extremely inconvenient but this one takes the cake! Why not just send me an email telling me that you don't want me as a member? So now I remain locked out! Look, I'm a big girl but during this covid-19 pandemic when we're all in lockdown, I live alone, and am disabled so would love to be able to contact or speak to people about issues around the area especially during this time! I've been in my own type of 'lock down' for nearly 8 years now so that's what I mean by being a big girl and this isolation is nothing new to me but finding out what's happening locally would help me feel as if I'm part of the community during these troubling times but obviously not! It would almost be a great app if you can get in and they could iron out the other niggling issues but the developers have stopped you being able to contact them unless you can sign in so if you can't reset your password, you're basically stuck and locked out! Gee, thanks Nextdoor, thanks for nothing! I will obviously be unsubscribing to your relentless emails as what's the point of being bombarded by them if I can't respond? If you fixed a few issues this has the potential to be a great app as the concept is brilliant!

A helpful service – A great way for neighbours to keep in touch, share information and ask questions. It has been particularly helpful for many people concerning lost pets, reporting crime and recommendations for tradespeople.

Our community brought closer – This community based project has brought such a positive feeling to our close neighbourhood. During covid so many people offered their help and since then our community spirit has been lifted by all the wonderful posts. Information of event, both good and bad have been brought to our attention and where necessary, given us helpful safety information but in the main I just love the feel good feeling of our neighbourhood community.

I’m very disappointed with how Nextdoor has handled a recent situation. I submitted a genuine report about a member who was repeatedly posting the same content, clearly spam, and did so in good faith, expecting the platform’s rules and confidentiality policies to be respected. Instead, the local lead, Lou Cook from Springfield, appeared to breach… Read more

the confidentiality of my report. They made a public post that indirectly exposed me and encouraged others to report me in retaliation. This behavior goes against everything a community platform should stand for, respectful discussion, privacy, and fair moderation. I’ve received no response or follow-up from the Nextdoor team despite reaching out. This lack of accountability and transparency is troubling. Reports should be handled privately and not turned into public shaming. I expected more from a platform that claims to promote safe and supportive neighborhoods.

Awful, unbalanced, lost platform where small blokey right wing business owners get together and congratulate each other, and diverse issues of concern or customer safety are bullied off. There is no effective oversight, honest and open communication is discouraged, its a waste of everyone’s time.

They are so bad they have to buy peoples data to try and get more folks to sign up – Scammers that only protect themselves. They bought my data from someone and then told me according to US privacy laws they can’t tell me who they bought it from. I never signed up for this stupid thing and yet got marketed to. Which over here in Aus is illegal. Also I am in fact entitled to know who it was that sold my data. If in fact anyone did… Read more

Banned from Nextdoor after voicing bullying and racism shouldn’t be tolerated – There’s been much racist content recently and other posts posting photos and bullying members of the public on Nextdoor. When I expressed my disgust with such racist and bullying content, I got suspended from Nextdoor. The leads and website admin tolerate this, the website is full of people who don’t have friends in real life and post racist and bullying content on Nextdoor for attention.

No Moderation, Useless and Boring – I signed up to Nextdoor in 2021, I haven't used it much but lately I've been having a look. They keep putting up "surveys" which are quite specific, clearly they are doing this on someone's behalf but any questions asked are met with a cut and paste reply. They are evasive, unprofessional, will not define their purpose and none of the features work - don't sign up to this appalling bunch.

Bad moderation and appeal – The problem with Nextdoor is that it is poorly moderated. Name calling, lying about posts and making false allegations about me by a Lead – I was shocked to find some posts from this Lead. I have had numerous and serious problems with in the past, I had blocked him so I don't even know how I came to see them, but they were very upsetting and made me look bad. He even made up this post how I listed a picture of rubbish on someone's verge and he was angry because he tried to message me… Read more

and I refused to answer him and he was upset because he felt, being such a great person, that he could have made a dog kennel out of it! I have no idea what he is talking about, I posted no such thing just as I didn't block him from some FB site that he also implied. I'm at a loss as to why he has attacked me like this, and my complaint barely raised anything with the Support Team, and he still remains a Lead! Is this the type of person that should be one? This is not the first time he has done this either. He makes himself out to be such a do-gooder, but he's a know all know nothing, just quotes lots of links which anyone can do. I've already reported him to DHS for serious breeches of the disability protocols.

Nextdoor - really hard to unsubscribe – Have spent the last week trying to unsubscribe from their emails. Unless you know your log in details (which I don't because I have not found membership to be useful) you can only unsubscribe from the particular type of email they sent that day (eg 'digest'). As a result you keep receiving emails. All reputable email services provide an 'unsubscribe all' option. Nextdoor does not provide this option.
