Loving my Nikon Aculon A211 10x50 Binoculars – Loving my Nikon Aculon A211 10x50 Binoculars! Great value for money. They have a very bright image with true colours, no violet fringing (chromatic aberration) and effective anti-reflection coatings on the lenses. Landscape, wildlife, moon and star observations are all sharp. Has enough comfortable eye relief for a high power binocular.

Not a bad buy – Honestly I am not that familiar with bino, I have tried only 3-4 different binos before so I am not an expert in this matter. This is obviously not the best on the market, but hey, it does its job quite well. Adjusting the bino to get a good focus point is not difficult although I wish I have clearer view (too much expectation?). There is a hole/holder where you can actually use it to place something on it, I put a torch light on it !

Focus is on me – Today my husband tried out his new Nikon Binoculars , we went for a drive to the beach and spotted some whales in far distance and a boat and my husband was happy as using the binoculars could see the water off the whales back and read the writing on the boat was soo clear , he let me have a look, and though made me dizzy at first till I adjusted to them found they were really good . He has given his other one the flick as couldn't see out as far as the Nikon, just one thing the front lens covers don't sit on properly keeping popping off , apart from that is really good and comes with case too. So now we can both focus on exploring whats out there : )

Solid Piece of Kit – I bought the A21110-22x variable zoom and they actually do what they say and work. Now this may be the expected function but if you've ever tried zoom binoculars before you usually find that they work well at the minimum zoom range but as soon as you start zooming in the image gets very dark and fuzzy, but these A211's seem to keep a strong picture.

Something also worth noting is that the box comes packaged very well and would make a great gift.

Why not 5/5 stars? Well, it's 2018 and you can get 60x zoom digital cameras with 4k recording and image stabilisation, so these binoculars seems a little bit limited in today's world.

Design Fault – I bought these binoculars in February 2018 over the Internet without actually trying them out first. This proved to be a mistake. I based my decision on having for some time owned a pair of smaller Aculons (8 x 25s), which I really like. The problem with the 7 x 50s is their extendable eye cups. The design of the rubber cups is the most uncomfortable and unsatisfactory design that, in sixty years of owning and using binoculars I have ever experienced. I bought these binoculars for use in low light while standing in front of an instrument panel, so the fact that it is absolutely impossible to stop ambient light from entering my eyes from behind the ocular greatly reduces the performance of what otherwise is a highly resolute and brilliant optic. If the distance between the monoculars is widened in an attempt to fit them better into my eye sockets the separate images do not coalesce well at all. In fact, there is no way to use these binoculars effectively for the purpose that I purchased them. I have even tried removing the bulbous rubber cups, reversing them and turning them inside out without result. I am now searching for add-on rubber blinkers to stretch over the eye cups.

In addition to the ambient light problem, because the only effective way to use these binoculars is to hold them slightly in front of one's eyes, it is harder to keep them steady because they are without the third anchor point.

In summary, for the money, the optics on these Nikon Aculon 7x 50 binoculars are superb, both in terms of resolution and brilliance. However, I would not recommend these binoculars to anyone who seriously wants an effective working pair of binoculars for use in low light conditions, particularly if their intended use is from an observation station that has even the lowest level of ambient lighting.
