amazing lens – Been using this lens with my Nikon D5500 for the past three years and it never let me down. Only negative might be the slow auto focus but apart from that it's great in low light and amazing for bokeh effects

EGlobal Nikon lens (AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f1.8G) – Purchased a DX lens, the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f1.8G. Great low light performance , good everyday lens to help improve photography skills. Every DX owner should have this lens. Inconspicuous and easy to use. Delivery was prompt and the lens came well packaged. Good prime lens equivalent to 50mm on FX cameras. I use it on a D90 auto focus… Read more

is reasonably quick, manual focus a bit disappointing. Lens came with original Nikon box, HB-46 lens hood and a cloth case for the lens. Uses 52mm filters. Manual focus ring has limited range of movement. Needs micro adjustments otherwise out of focus. Overall eglobal shopping experience was amazing and the lens itself is sweet.

Lens struggles with group shots and forces you to get creative with other styles of photography. You will quickly learn the limitations of this lens and this makes using it more enjoyable. Great little lens to have with you. SImple lens to use. Small, light weight No VR on lens, warranty claims an issue being a grey import from South Korea.

Excellent – Finally, Nikon releases a fixed focal length lens for DX. After all, it's only the biggest SLR market they have, no big deal! Anyway, it's a G type lens so no bellows work. Keep an old D or F mount 50mm for macro work and the really cool old-school method of actually using the aperture ring!! Oh, and of course for an awesome short, fast… Read more

portrait lens.

Specs look good, but they always do with Nikon. Just look at the 24-120 - what a dud! However, when you actually use this lens you realize that it really is that good. It's just brilliant.

There's no major deal-breakers with this lens. The construction is simple (8 elements, 6 groups), it only has to cover the DX sensor so light fall off isn't a problem, and Nikon has decades of experience designing and manufacturing fast 'normal' lenses. That's why it can be light, razor sharp, open up to f/1.8, and still be small and light enough to fit in a pocket.

Pair this with the 18-200 and you're done.

Another reason not to expect any issues is that this lens is simply too important to Nikon for it to be a lemon. The 'normal' lens is what photography is all about; using your eyes, arms, legs and brain to create a image of what you see. But not to digress, this isn't about whether zooms are better than primes; just look at the 14-24. It's about whether or not you should buy this lens.

And the answer is yes - you should - right now. Fast autofocus with full time manual over-ride;

Light;

Cheap;

Small;

Fast aperture of f/1.8;

So sharp you'll cut yourself. Made mostly from plastic - but good plastic;

No aperture ring.

Excellent – I pick prime lenses over zooms any day for most of my photographs. Firstly because prime lenses produce better quality than zooms. Secondly, a prime lens helps compose better shots because you're actively thinking in the absence of a zoom - you tend to consider different approaches and angles to your shots. This prime lens is fantastic for low… Read more

light photography without flash and the lens produces wonderful bokeh.

It is small and light and is definitely my pick for when I'm out on family trips.

Build quality is excellent and the AF is lightning fast.

This is a wonderful all round prime lens and, in my opinion, is a must have for photographers of all skill levels. Couple this with any camera (particularly the D7000) and prepare to be blown away. Large aperture for low light shooting

Brilliant photo quality

Extremely fast focusing

Great Bokeh

In built AF

Compact, robust, reliable and CHEAP Nothing really. Keep in mind though that there is quite a large differene between this G lens and the older D lens. So if your camera has an in built AF motor, then save yourself some money and go for the D lens
