Good – The nintendo ds is a wonderful invention, with many games available and a great tool for children on aeroplanes or in doctor's waiting rooms etc. There are educational games as well and with the stylus they can interact with the game without simply watching it, like a television. It was very advanced when it came out however now I think it has… Read more

been overtaken with upgrades and other brands, like Apple. However the nintendo ds is simply wonderful as a simple gameplayer. Verdict: Not bad Variety of games, compact, great for travel, time fillers or keeping the kids quiet. Games can be educational or recreative. Games are expensive and children can become addicted and unresponsive.

OK – The nintendo DS is a great console for little kids not yet ready for more better and expensive console, easy to learn how to use that a 3 year old could play with no hassles, Can however be very glitchy for the very expensive games. I don't regret buying it. The Nintendo DS is a small portable gamming console that you can take wherever you want.… Read more

Easy to see the screen and contol using the stylus given to you. Not very many games for people other than kids, games sometime don't work and when they do its very low graphics

OK – It's o.k. It's mainly for peaceful gamers, not gamers that play as violently as paranormal activity 2. It's also fun for an hour or two, but then it makes your eyes tired. Fun, touchscreen, touchpen, wide variety of games. Game quality is fairly low, touchscreen errors, easy to crack/break/scratch.

the Nintendo DS are much cheaper than those for the larger consoles, such as the play station 3, the XBOX 360 or the Wii. The touch screen is a great idea and isthe base of many of the games for this system. On many games for the Nintendo DS, such as Mariocart, the touch screen is almost never used.

Bad – Fun and sometimes educational for kids, very portable, but too easily damaged for a kids toy, especially one as expensive as this. A great small and portable unit for keeping the kids quiet and avoiding boredom in so many locations. Lots of games available. These things are SO easily damaged, we are on our third (and last!). My kids are not… Read more

rough with them. One we sent off to be repaired under warranty. We were told it was water damaged and would not be repaired. I questioned them as there was no water near the unit, and was informed that even washing your hands, not drying them properly and then playing could cause this damage!! Not very impressive for a kids toy!! The price quickly adds up with the games and accessories.

Good – easy to use great variety of colors and games for varied ages. Ide be lost without it having 4 children in the car for long trips was a nightmare with the older kids before we got them.... definately a must to keep harmony:) a great unit that is compact and light and easy for kids. Great for road trips and times when you need kids to remain quiet… Read more

as keeps them easily entertained, comes with spare pens for the times when they go missing in action Is costly to buy however we got our kids when it was on special and it came with games so was affordable. isnt friendly for younger children to use as too complicated for our 2 year old

Excellent – The ds is designed to keep you entertained for hours, hence the different kind of games you can buy. Some educational some just plain old fun. I have never had a portable game before and would recommend this to all ages as its eay to operate and the great thing is it fits in your handbag. I love the fact that it is portable and comes in cool… Read more

colours. I love that the screen is a good size and the console is eay to use. I like that you can buy accessories for the ds to keep all your games in. The cost can be high which puts people off, but if your like me I waited until the christmas sales and got a great deal as a bundle. saved heaps of money.

Excellent – I originally got this unit to use on a long plane flight. It served it purpose fairly well but found holding the unit for long periods make my hands sore. The initial launch games were a clear indication that the console was an unexpected hit. It was made of mostly Nintendo 64 ports. The current catalog of games is amazing. The game play is… Read more

very unique and games such as the Phantom hour glass offer some of the best game play on any system.

The newer units offer a slimmer frame and would be far better. Backwards compatibility with the gameboy advance is no longer that big a deal as this is nintendo's primary mobile platform. Great games

Unique game play

Gameboy Advance backward compatibility Bulky

Excellent – I recently seen an old nintendo ds and realised that there are still peoplebuying these old consoles. I suggest that people don't buy them because compare to the newer ds lite they are not that good and buying is a waste of money. the screen is not as big or bright. the controls does not feel that good and in my opinion the touch pen is not placed… Read more

as conveniently as the new ds lite. - lots of fun games

Good – The DS is Nintendo's current mainstrean portable gaming console. It's dual screen design allows for game designers more flexiblity to create unique features in games. wireless connectivity allows you to connect to the Internet and play games online against other players around the world. This is the original DS and newer models have been released, but you will find that you will still be able to play most of the games available so it's still a useful gadget. Rechargable batteries, Innovative touch screen design Limited software library. This is the older model so buyers should consider buying the newer DS Lite or the DSi models instead

Good – I got this when it first came out and found it great. I was travelling at the time and got this to fill in time at airports, train stations, stayovers etc and it kept me entertained no problem. You can get separate accessories like a usb charger, which is handy. The DS Lite has improved on this model a great deal though. The original model of a… Read more

great concept. The power button is right above the left hand button, and when you are right in the moment of a game you can very easily turn the whole thing off by accident. The brightness of the screens leaves a lot to be desired.

OK – This is a great hand held console that especially children will enjoy playing, I myself have upgraded to the DS lite but you can still have a great time gaming with one of these consoles. OK – Overall a satisfactory electronical product, great size though so whenever I'm bored I carry this around in my handbag, I'm not very happy with the graphics and game range though. difficult electronical gadgets. The graphics aren't exactly the best, and the games which you can play with the DS are repeatitive and do not require much of a challenge, I found that when I played my DS for a long time my fingers eventually became sweaty and there was loss of grip.

Good – Overall i love my ds and it has never failed me. It is so good how it has the chatroom free pre-installed on it so that you can talk to your friends and games are so much more enjoyable with the touch screens. for 2 years now and hasnt broken, i am extremely happy with my ds. The only bad part was ds lites came out as soon as i got mine! So it loses one star for their being a newer model. first touch screen gameboy i have had and makes games much better. Nintendogs is amazing with it and it makes games so real. There is now the ds lite which is smaller/slimmer and has a brighter screen.

Excellent – Lots of fun games to be found as this is the worlds best selling hand held. Good – Nintendo DS is a great portable console with many classic Nintendo games. Players can play multiplayer with their friends or go online with wi-fi to play against the people around the world. out.

The drawback is that it could be big and bulky to carry around. So putting it in your pocket isn't a great idea. The Nintendo DS also has one brightness setting, which could be annoying since you would want it to be brighter when you play certain games. But still, a great console to own! Better sound, Gameboy Advance slots are more convenient since it doesn't stick out compared to the Nintendo DS Lite. A bit heavy to carry around, only one brightness setting.

OK – The DS is great fun!! Takes you back to the days of the old two screen "game and watch" consoles. With games like Mario Kart, metroid and animal crossing leading the way, Nintendo are really onto a good thing here. A lot of the games are a little childish and for the "more mature" gamer, this can get a little annoying after lengthy playing times.… Read more

On-line play is available through wifi.. (although I would definitely recommend brushing up on your skills before attempting to make a name for yourself. Good value for money, fun games , touch screen. More aimed at younger players, most games using cartoon characters or nintendo favourites.

Gameboy Micro. The Nintendo DS also has a 2 screens(DS stands for Duel Screen) and the bottom screen is a touch screen it comes with a stylus to use with the touch screen. It can also go on Wi-Fi with people from all over the world. And also the customer support for Nintendo is very kind. Well the stuff that I dislike about the Nintendo DS is that it's Wireless card in it doesn't stay connected to Wi-FI very well. And the touch screen gets scratched up a lot so you need to get a screen protector.

Good – After buying my son a GameBoy Advance a couple of years back and having trouble with Nintendo customer service, I had no intention of buying again. My son desperately wanted one and saved his own money. I soon realised how great they were, and ended up buying one for my other son. (though he got the DS Lite). I would say the BEST point is the… Read more

wireless communication. You put one game in one console, and others with a console can play against you on their own console. Even from another room! Great when your kids fight! Rechargeable, so no batteries, wireless communication is awesome, compact to take on car trips, backlit so very clear (unlike the older Gameboy Advance) You have to put time limits on them, and send the kids outside every now and then, as it is very addictive. You can also use it as a means of punishment (ie ground them from it).

Good – I'm not a gaming fan but really enjoy the Nintendo DS. It's the perfect step up from a Gameboy or Gameboy Advance SP with lots of fun extras. possibilities is endelss.

Dual backlit screens that are bigger than the old GBA SP.

Wireless communication that allows friends to be communicating with each another within a 100-foot radius.

PictoChat also lets you draw images and write messages via a virtual keyboard.

Plays all your old GBA titles as well as the cool DS ones like Nintendogs (Beware this is almost as time consuming as a real dog and sooo cute!)

!0 hour recharge life on the battery The cost of the games is way too high ($69.00) and is limited to a few good titles and a lot of crap ones.

Doesn't play gameboy games or gameboy colour games.

Is a bit bulky so won't fit in your pocket but is portable.

Excellent – The DS is easy to use and is a simple plug in and play device. The interface is primarily navigated using a stylus on the touch screen. games or chat with their friends.

Since its release, the variety of games for the DS has also expanded quite substantially and you can now find some pretty competitive pricing.

The graphics on the DS are excellent and it is quick to load and save games.

The only draw back is that the screens are smaller and it would not be suitable for users who required visual aids.

Two thumbs up though, this is a fantastic portable that I recommend whole heartedly. Easy to use, portable, light weight Small screens, needs screen protectors

Good – This is really the ultimate child's toy with the proviso that your child is careful. We gave it to our son for his birthday and within a month the plastic around the hinge had cracked. trying to explain to my son where his DS was I caved in. The fact of the matter is that he had opened the screen to 180 degrees, this is past a detent and this apparently is not recommended but this is not explained anywhere in Nintendo's literature on the DS. So we were quite annoyed at that point. The fact that we still went ahead and bought one for our daughter's birthday is testament to the positives of the DS. One of the best things is that they can play the same game together wirelessly. They can talk to one another from their bedrooms and can communicate with friends across the internet. IT has a great range of games and is really a nice cool toy. We have never had any problems since and we would recommend it but with the caveat that it needs to be treated carefully. The ultimate child's toy, compact, wireless, great battery charge life, really great graphics, great games, hours of fun Too fragile for the target market, the lower screen gets scratched, the stylus gets lost easily
