Nissan xtrail ti, 2021, Map upgrade – No difference just purchased another 1 from Australia online car parts, still same, will not answer any more questions, only wants me to do this. Show details
Can you trust a Car navigation system that expects you to drive across the Ocean? – The inbuilt Nissan navigation system in my 2022 Qashqui has given me directions to places in New Zealand, Singapore, and Malaysia, and expected me to drive there from Brisbane. It is the most complicated and unreliable navigation system I have ever had. Rather than give me directions to the nearest ‘John Street’ in Brisbane it is just as likely to… Read more
give me directions to one in Melbourne or Sydney, even though I have ‘nearest ‘ selected. The way the information is presented on the screen means that you cannot tell where the street you are searching for is located until you chose it, and the navigation system selects a route. Absoloute Crap system.!
2020 X-Trail Sat Nav - Useless – The 2020 Nissan x Trail came with an in dash Sat Nav system that could ONLY be updated by Nissan. As of late 2022 and the latest update from Nissan it was still missing the Sydney North Connex opened 31 October 2020. The system does not have Android Auto available and as such you a stuck with a system that is unusable. Nissan seem to have done… Read more
absolutely nothing to rectify this pathetic situation. The existing Sat Nav product is NOT fit for purpose.

Free Map Update with Service – Just had Nissan upgrade my maps for free on my Qashqai 40k service. I am happy about that. When previously enquired map upgrade was expensive, now free with my service, maybe they are listening.
Nissan says will update maps free – So far so good, they say they'll update maps free. Let's hope they come through. If not, I'll be back online dishing out is every forum. How many sales can you lose due to Facebook?
Map updates now avaiable – Nissan have finally come to the party and will be offering map updates to their most popular models from early January 2017. This will be complimentary as part of a log book service.
Negative reviews
pathetic maps and no updates available – have a 2015 qashqai took for service and asked to update maps Nissan say the maps are up to date but when i checked they are 2013 only about 10 years out of date absolutely useless trying to find something even roads that been there for years don't exist have to buy gps that is up to date
Lost in Adelaide – At least we got to see more of Adelaide than we expected as the X Trails nav system took us everywhere except where we wanted to go , it could not cope with the new expressway. Also could not cope with Gold Coast expressway and has also sent us in some weird and wonderful directions closer to home.
2021 Nissan Navara - Nissan Navigation - Absolutely Useless – What a joke! Brand new car, less than 3 months old and the maps are out of date. Told by Nissan my car is up to date. For a car that cost over $60K, I would have expected better. The fact the Nissan dealers won't acknowledge there is a problem speaks for itself.

It's just ridiculous! – The satnav (old maps) and the lack of traffic warning is the most frustrating thing with the XTrail, I should have gone with the other brand. But unfortunately due to the global supply chain and shorage I had to take the XTrail which was in stock. Show details
Worst ever navigation – Bougth a nissan x trail 2020 model navigation in it is probably 1990. Can't update nissan keeps telling me it's updated. Example:Driving on the hwy between Wollongong and Kiama it tells me take the 2nd exit on roundabout, you tell me Becouse I can't remember when was there a round about. Takes you off the m5 and then tells you to go back on and continue on m5 no reason no traffic. Show details
Absolute rubbish – My Nissan navara is now 3yrs old. Brought new. The satellite navigation is so bad it's better to just not use it.. it is so out of date and even with So called updates done at Nissan it still.cant find new suburbs and streets build over 3 yrs ago.. this rubbish navigation. Is a constant problem. As a tradie. A completely useless. .. I will never but a Nissan again.. due to this.. makes me late for jobs... embarrassing rubbish tool.. Show details
Very disappointing!! Not recommend – Sat Nav is one of many complaints with my 2020 XTrail. Directions always provide the longest, most unusual routes. Can’t be trusted when most needed. So many issues with brand new vehicle such as no heating/aircon for first 1yr, seat belt sensor faulty so buckles need to be fastened without passengers, drivers seat is loose (squeaks and moves on all breaks) etc etc Been to dealership so many time, HEADACHE!!!!!

Update on Nissan Navara Map Update – Have previous review on here. In March (2021) headed off to catch up with friends in Snowy Mountains. First overnight stop was Balranald NSW. Punched in trip details (my place - Balranald) and hit the main road next to my place. Sat-Nav said turn left at next left. I ignored it and kept going, turn left issued again. After 30Kms of this… Read more
happening I stopped at next town and looked at the Trip details. Now all I have to do if follow A32 from my place to Balranald - trip distance is 507km. The Sat-Nav said I still had just under 1300km to go? Looked at the route and it was trying to take me to Broken Hill - Mildura - Balranald. Added a way point for Renmark distance increased? Was trying to take me to Renmark - Broken Hill - Mildura - Balranald still some 1280kms. Gave up and just drove.
Well, just did a new map update and now have 2020 Sept Update (only 9 months old).
Now only want to take me 712kms for the 507km trip.
Useless and now do not trust at all.
Buying myself a new Navman. I have a an older navman but no longer get TMC data (its interesting to note that the Nissan gets TMC).
New Navman will cost about $170 has lifetime Monthly Map Updates and TMC.
Qashqai 2021: SatNav worse than useless – My Nissan Qashqai is less than a month old. The car does what its meant to do EXCEPT the satnav. My road has been here 28 years but is not on the map. Other local roads are marked as unsealed when they were sealed 30 yrs ago. YEARS!! Last week I drove interstate and it took me 25km out of my way. Two days ago in Canberra it told me to turn right… Read more
at a T-junction when the correct way was left. Utterly untrustworthy. The dealer says they are the most recent maps but my 3 yr old Navara has perfectly good maps that it came with. Not Fit For Purpose
Purchased brand new 2015 Navara NP300 STX – Brand new cost me almost $70K and worsted GPS Ive ever used, cant upgrade and gives wrong directions plus calculates a 6 hour drive is going to take 18 hours Show details
Absolutely disgusting SatNav – After updating the maps, I am still unable to find my home on the maps. I have been living there for 11 years. Unlike other car sat nav, I am unable to share connect my phone apps with the satnav. I was told by the dealer to use my phone for navigation. What a joke!!!!
Xtrail. Very poor quality Sat Nav – Terrible. Maps are out of date by at least 3 months and calculated fastest routes are generally NOT so and pronunciations are also generally poor compared to Tom Tom maps.
Incompatible with OEM head unit and terrible customer service – Navshop (TomTom) update claimed to be compatible with my Nissan, but it clearly is NOT. To make matters worse Navshop have absolutely the worst customer service ever - the only way I was able to get some support was to contact one of their inside sales people through linkedin - shame on you Navshop! Brand new and useless – Less than two weeks since purchasing my new 2020 Qashqai and the vehicle itself is simply brilliant. No complaints whatsoever. However I cannot believe the built in nav system. Spectacularly out of date, doesn't even know about anything but main roads in my rural area. When it does plan a route it seems to insist on the most amazing round-about… Read more
ways. The other day I tried it to navigate to a city about 180 km away and it set up the route using the main road. However I wanted to take the scenic route and once off the main road it kept demanding that I make a U turn. It did that for the entire journey obviously knowing nothing of the alternative route. The saddest thing was that I had Google Maps running on my phone and that quickly recalculated my route and navigated me flawlessly via my alternative route, rather thoughtfully mentioning various touristy spots along the way in case I was interested. Today I was waiting to pull out into traffic on a busy secondary road and the Nissan's nav system showed me in the middle of an empty paddock for heaven's sake. This sort of thing is basic bread and butter stuff for Google Maps and even Apple Maps, so why on earth can't Nissan stick to building cars, which they do really well, and license the navigation stuff from those who know what they are doing with it? I absolutely love my new Qashqai, but all I can say is thank goodness for Android Auto!
Map and Camera – The worst GPS Map system by far I have ever seen. So disappointing and wish I have never have bought my Xtrail. The reversing cameras were sold to us as HD. What a joke! Show details
Nissan GPS – Purchased new Qashqai Ti April 2019, supposed to have 3 years of free map updates, ha ha ha. The maps are so out of date whilst driving along Tonkin Highway in Perth WA the GPS indicates that we are driving across a paddock that existed many years ago before the highway was built. January 2021 and we are still being told that there are no newer maps available, WHAT A JOKE IN THIS DAY AND AGE Show details

This is so useless that I use my Smart Phone instead – Thee GPS does not recognise streets and roads that have been in place for many years. Some I tried in Dunedin last week have been there for 50+ years. Also sent the wrong way at times. This was not accurate at date of purchase. I will not be using it in the future. Show details
Useless at best dangerous at worst!!! – Nissan Quashi 2020 model GPS requested at point of sale which was extra $ of course. This thing would take you around the country before arriving at destination. EG son in law living in outer Brisbane suburbs we were 1 km from his house on old GPS which we using as well. She wanted us to drive 10 km to his residence, ridiculous as he lives in a… Read more
court we were about to enter. Had we have known about this we obviously could have saved a few $$. No help from Nissan said it was upgraded at first service on 19/10/20 but still defective!!
Can't even find its way home – Nissan X-Trail 2016 CVT 4WD. There is a street/road in Albury that is simply not there until you're on it... then there it is... WHAT is going on. That road hes been ther. for twenty or more years. Luckily I also have on the dash an old Navman. After seeing all the comments I haven't bothered updating the GPS from Nissan ... just an update from… Read more
Navman... $60 + postage (can be done online but I chose not to) But we all have a lot of fun watching the both fight it out... haven't seen the Nissan one be correct yet.
Navigation or lack of it – I was assured at point of sale & prior to purchase that maps were available to update @ 6 monthly intervals & they were free. The update procedure was explained with different versions which none worked. I was told by Nissan Australia that maps are only updated every 2years or so & it had to be done when serviced at a Nissan dealership, if you… Read more
serviced it independitly you would have to pay to update. The maps are way out of day at time of purchase, June 2020
Sat-nav updates – XTRAIL 2014 ST-L 4WD. Have had many discussions with Nissan dealers about the accuracy and "current-ness" of the sat-nav maps. Yes they are the katest version but that version does not reflect the actual maps. For example, the highway between Brisbane and Newcastle has been getting upgrades for many years. Most of these new 2 lane highways (2… Read more
north & 2 south) are not on the Nissan X-Trail mapping. I have been given the reason that it relates to licencing of the map supplier with Nissan as the end user. To keep me interested, at least I can listen to my sat-nav "navigator" telling me to take the next left then the next right immediately from an apparent non-existent road on which I am travelling. I have also been told by Nissan rep that because of the "lag in accuracy", future Nissan models will not have this sat nav accessory, but will interface will google maps which will upload for display. Bring it on - but dont forget your mobile phone else you could end up in "Shipp Creek".
Pathfinder R52 SatNav – Not only is the Nissan GPS SatNav terrible with unrealistic timing and routes through tracks and dead ends. Now I’m being told by the Nissan dealership that a new update will cost me $200. This is ridiculous. Show details
It SUCKS!!! – The mapping program is terrible. Google Maps and Waze blow this lousy navigation system out of the water. What a waste of money. Very difficult updating the maps and the POIs are extremely limited. Worst navigation system I have ever used. Show details
Nissan fails to update GPS – I again had Nissan phone me today (23 rd December 2019). They said that they have NO idea when an update will be available. This is a lie as they told me earlier this year in writing that it would be replaced this year. They told me the same thing last year. Nissan a large International company is treating its Pulsar owners as a joke. I live in… Read more
Berry NSW and now that the bypass has been completed it has me driving across paddocks over creeks and through fences. My passengers think it is a joke. We paid a lot more money to have the top of the range T1 only to be told in reality that it will never be updated. The thing that really annoys me is that it is only a small memory card. Why does Nissan refuse to update it. I can only assume that they really don't give a stuff about their customers. I wrote to Stephen Lester the Nissan CEO and he refused to reply to me. This time I plan to register the letter. It is all about principle and I won't go away.
GPS UPDATE RIP OFF – I received a message on my navigation system (GPS) to visit my Nissan dealership to have a upgrade on my system in our Nissan Altima Ti. I was informed that I would be required to book my car in for a service and they would install the update ( a new SD card as it turns out) at a cost of $190 whilst servicing my vehicle. I couldn't believe it and… Read more
politely refused the rather rude invitation. This is the third visit to this dealership to purchase different products with negative results, in fact on the previous visits I was told, qoute," No mate, go to Repco"... Beautiful car to drive but the after sales service far from up to standard. I just hope we don't get lost following the out of date system we have in place.
For real??? – I love my Nissan dealership and my car. But when I got an email today to upgrade my navigation system, I couldn't believe they charge to get an update. I truly don't understand why when the system has Android Auto and apple car play, that is way better and free updates. This is the only negative thing I've ever said about Nissan. At first I thought the email might be spam when I saw the price.
Nissan Pulsar SSS – Offered free Upgrade with next service, got Service that I didnt need to get the Nav upgrade, No Upgrade was installed or available, but they did delete the current maps and stuffed the whole thing, Nissan Service will do Nothing for you, and I dont think there ever will be an Upgrade of Pulsars, or an upgrade from Nissan Service either, they need it more than my Nav Show details
New car dealer can’t recall last update – 2019 370z. No airport link tunnel on maps which opened years ago. Google has no problem. Dealer informed me, couldn’t recall last update, followed by do they still make 370z. Really disappointed by after sales support. Show details
Navigation updates – It's pretty sorry when Nissan has to make money on navigation scan disc for 149 dollars every time you need updates . You can buy a portable Nuvi gps's have life time updates for free and cost less. Doesn't that make you wonder if they are really customer oriented or just out to take you money. Maybe you should lookout for the customer instead of lining your pockets.
