Nu Image Homes & Improvements

Extremely satisfied! – I had a wonderful experience with renovating my retirement townhouse. John was good at explaining the process and the contract so I felt very sure about details. Tradesmen were all professional and work was high standard.
Outdoor area – We have had an extension to our existing shed, incorporating a new entertainment area and Pergola. The shed extension has been lined and insulated, providing an all weather entertainment area. John's planning, design and attention to detail provided by various trades has been innovative, efficient and of a high standard.
unprofessional. Poor workmanship – Stay away. Faults with the dodgy flashings on the extension built by these guys. Refusing to fix it. Keeps blaming the old structure and the existing gutters. I’ve had two different builders come and have a look. Both have they pointed to the poor workmanship and poor finishing but John keeps telling me I need down pipes. The water leaking from the flashing has damaged the ceiling and door trims inside but John won’t even look at it.
Dangerously Low Standard – The owner claims to take a lot of pride in what he does. Everyone that views our photographic evidence is horrified about just how low he sets his standards. People in the building industry have reacted to the pics by saying he's the kind of builder that gives the rest of them a bad name. Despite giving the impression of a larger outfit, he's a one man show who gets ok reviews. That's probably thanks to reasonable sub-contractors doing that work. His own workmanship is atrocious, and apparently it's never his fault. Instead, he seemed to have a fondness for blaming other factors or even his subbies.
He removed a load bearing wall without any engineering, and got caught out. His non-compliant attempt was under-dimensioned. Luckily we checked on him. He consulted an engineer. 3 beams later he got it right.
We experienced pathetic project management, unclear & incomplete communication. He rarely told subcontractors the full list of tasks they were required to perform onsite. They were often ill-prepared and had to hurry, stay longer, or return. He wasted our time, and theirs.
He used our yard like a tip, and 'built'/butchered some things from bits of scrap.
In contrast, Nu Image Homes was amazingly efficient at issuing invoices. We always paid on time, but that didn't stop them hassling us for money, twice within 3 hours, for an invoice issued only 24hrs previously, for an amount we weren't contractually obliged to pay anyway, but thoughtfully agreed to do so. It was a mistake. Any consideration and thoughtfulness was a one way street.
We feel there's no way this guy should hold a builder's licence. If you want a professional, we suggest going somewhere else. If you're content with (what our experience told us was) an over-priced cowboy constantly trying to pull the wool over our eyes, give him a call.
