Old Red Brick Company

Old Red Brick Co is the worst company I have ever delt with – Old Red Brick Co is the worst company I have ever delt with and not by a small margin, they make NBN and Telstra look like well-oiled machines. I looked past reviews as they were recommended by my builder but heavily regret ignoring the blatant warning signs. A list of some of the issues we had - * We were quoted 2 weeks lead times, not long after we call to arrange a time for demolition to be told the manager is not around and to call back in a week. We called back a week later and were told he’s too busy and if we do not hear by Tuesday to call back. Called back Tuesday to be told we do not need to speak to the manager, and you must accept the online quote to then be placed in a queue for scheduling. But now the queue is 4-6 weeks and while they caused the delay for scheduling. They were not willing to take this into account and push us up where we would have been had they advised us the correct process to begin with.
* From the point of being told 4-6 weeks, demolition took 3 months and were given 4 separate dates that demo would definitely start. Each date provided we drove past the block to find no-one there and nothing done. After then calling to query this we were not provided any information nor a call back (although the number to call was taken) This ended up costing thousands in rent, it will also cause delays in builds as the builders are busier now possibly costing us thousands more.
* We were told they had to delay starting as they need a full crew of 5 asbestos removalists, although we and neighbours on the street only ever noticed 2 when the work was started.
* We were told they had to delay as machinery broke down, although at that point they needed to remove asbestos and machinery was not required, when I questioned this the response was “They have not removed the asbestos yet?” how did they not know this?
* They openly advised they delayed our start to work on a commercial site.
* There is zero communication from Red Brick co, they did not even notify us to let us know work was “complete”.
* My builder who recommended red brick co tried to make contact with them to enquire about the delay but the receptionists would not let them to speak to anyone past reception.
*Anyone that could help was rarely available to speak to, reception would take your number, but no one would ever ring back, so you have to keep ringing back and back until you were able to speak to someone.
* They left insulation that came from the asbestos roof laying around for weeks, even after we notified them of the hazard. They did not even remove this before marking job as complete.
* The receptionist hung up on us several times mid-sentence and is quite rude
* They left large bits of wood and concrete which would have been picked up if they sieved the site as quoted. Although they have spelt sieve wrong on the quote, maybe that is their loophole?
* They cut down one of our hedges tree although we advised not to and followed their instructions to make sure it was not touched and the drive way was clear. They did not even dispose of what they cut down and it was left on our block.
* They broke our neighbours overhead phone cable; they were lucky as the power cable was right next to it.
* It took some convincing to get them to complete the job and even still left the site in a poor state.
* They removed half the asbestos from the house, then left for Christmas break for 3 weeks after I asked if they where taking a Christmas break and was advised they where not. This left me and the neighbors in the street uneasy. During this time the house looked to be entered by another party, also the skip was opened, I hope the asbestos was not stored in this bin for the persons sake that opened it and my neighbors sake.
If the above or the other poor reviews does not convince you to look elsewhere. Get a quote from them, then read the fine print and notice how poorly written it is, and this quote is the best work they did. For example, I am dyslexic and just reading a few paragraphs I noticed the following spelling and grammar mistakes,
"these material will then", "soils or materialss", "required to removed a shed", "Unentwining and the manual", "due to the the nature", "the seived gauge", "unlikely even that buried", "In the unlikely even that hidden asbestos"
