Olympus WS-750 M
3 reviews
Device has some problems on startup and on shutdown – I had the same experience of Brian: the WS-750M freezes at startup and the word "Olympus" appears. There is no solution. You need to remove the battery in order to shutdown the device.
Best recorder (of it's type) I have ever had – I LOVE this recorder. It has stood me in good stead for several years and I've never had a problem with it. My only fear is what I will do when it finally breaks. It is easy to use and the clarity of the recording is truly stunning considering the small size and price of this recorder. I use it almost every day for notes, meetings, singing practise, recording group performances. It really is way above what I expected it to be when I bought it.
I can't believe the bad review here for it. All I can say is Brian must have been unfortunate to get a faulty one. Shame he didn't use the warranty and get a new one as he might have been as in love with it as I am.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend the Olympus WS-750 I just wish it hadn't been superseded as I would like to buy another one.
Terrible – Don't buy! The Olympus WS-750M is not worth 5 bucks! Only managed to do 1 recording since then it is dead. Even with a standard AAA battery it is not booting up after the second time using it. It is a worthless piece of equipment and I recommend not to buy. Promising product, however it does not work. Well, I only managed to do 1 recording. After unpacking the newly bought (at Officeworks) Olympus WS-750M and charging the Ni-MH battery as instructed. I went through the menus and tried it out. There it was when the first problems arose. The voice recorder froze and the only way to get it back to life was to remove the battery. I did not really annoy me at first, after all no software is without bugs.
Then the next day I was hoping to do a 2 hour recording and turned on the Olympus WS-750M – which ended up in a freeze again, that could only be solved in the same way, by removing the battery.
After that I could start the recording. All looked fine until, after 2 hours, I tried to stop the recording – it had frozen again.
This time removal of the battery did not help. All what I’m getting now is the word “Olympus”. Recharging does not work.
I tried it with an AAA battery instead – no luck the boot only goes to the display “Olympus”.

Since writing this I tried some of the other Olympus ones that weren't as good (they were okay but were plastic and didn't feel as robust and I'm not sure the recordings were as good).
Now I'm happy to report that the LS-P2 has all of the features of the WS-750 but adds more (like bluetooth!). I adore the LS-P2. I've bought TWO!
I can record meetings or music sessions and listen back later via my bluetooth earphone. Or stream it through a bluetooth speaker. Excellent feature. I think the recording quality is even better than the WS-750 and I am so happy with it for some many reasons.
I'm guessing (although I don't have one) that the LS-P1 might be the equivalent current recorder to the one reviewed here (WS-750). I don't have one but it looks like the one I have with a few less bells and whistles.
So if you're after a more basic one that might be the one to get. But if you're after excellent recordings and convenience in every way I couldn't recommend the LS-P2 more highly. Like I said, I've now got TWO and they are both working beautifully.
