Oregon Solar Weather Station

Did not fully work from outset then remaining sensors dropped out over 2 years – This item was a (very expensive) gift from my son. The rain gauge simply did not work from the beginning, the anemometer dropped out after a few months and the temperature sensor after 2 years. I am now left with a very expensive barometer hanging on my external wall!

You can fix that blank display!! – I bought my unit a few years back and loved it. But then the screen started to flicker and a few days later it went blank. New batteries didn’t help. Then I found a fix with video instructions by searching ‘repair Oregon scientific display’. I bought a new crystal resonator A$5 and a mini soldering iron and bingo! It works again!

Excellent reliable unit, like it so much purchased for extended family! – Purchased so we could easily determine outdoor temperature; it's been a reliable unit which apart from occasional battery change is set and forget. No problems with syncing, just works. Have replaced batteries twice in 2+ years so you get about 12 months out of a set. Remember to reset the units when batteries replaced. Have purchased additional 4+ units for extended family and they are all happy!

HAPPY. Took it back to place of purchase and they said more or less Bad luck and that I can purchase a new one. Will never purchase another Oregon brand again and not from that store either. Very disappointed.

Only lasted 4 yrs – Was very happy with the unit and found it accurate and reliable but the main unit has recently stopped working altogether. Began with flickering and now screen completely blank. Changed batteries, reset and even phoned Oregon tech support but the best they could do was offer 10% discount on a new unit. 4 years is not really an acceptable life span for a product that isn't cheap.

Short life span – I had mine given to me as a house warming present. It worked well with temp and humidity features very useful. Ice alert not very useful in Queensland. The sensor died after 2 years so I bought a new one off eBay. Last month, after 4 years, the main LCD screen went crazy and it no longer works. Tried new batteries, reset etc etc. Nada. Tossing up to buy a new one to match the new sensor or a completely different model at lower cost.

Oregon, no thanks – My first one bought in 2010 worked well for 9 mths then the outside sensor stopped transmitting, Dick Smith replaced the whole unit then one month ago the outside sensor stopped again of course no warranty left. I emailed Oregon but still waiting on a reply. Dick Smith can't help me because of the expired warranty and the do not carry that brand any more. I am going to buy a new weather station bit it will not be an Oregon.

BAR806 Oregon Scientific Weather Station – Excellent product, follow setup guide & setup outdoor sensor first then main unit. Signal works well through 3 walls & readings are very accurate. Ice indicator works only on channel 1. If replacing batteries, use alkaline. DO NOT USE LITHIUM!!! as I found out (intermittent loss of sensor signal), not sure why but suspect voltage variation.
