Osram Night Breaker Laser

I can see clearly now – Osram night breaker laser next generation h7 headlight bulbs. Osram have done it again making night driving exciting again in my own opinion these halogen headlight bulbs are shining bright.
Osram NIGHT BREAKER LASER Next Gen... No better than stock Halogen – You must read the fine print not what is labelled on the packaging. Read the PDS. 150% brighter actually means.. 150%brighter than the minimum legal standard.. Do not buy these laser globes complete waste of money.
Don't waste your money, just another dodgy marketing ploy – I was (un)lucky enough to obtain a pair of these headlight globes very cheaply so I thought I'd just try them for myself after reading conflicting reviews on the web. I wouldn't recommend anyone bother with them. I have fitted H4 Hi/Lo dual filament versions of this lamp. I fitted only one to begin with so I could directly compare it to the… Read more
standard originally fitted halogen bulb to my car.
So, firstly low beam: they are actually no brighter than a standard halogen bulb, and the colour temperature is about the same. This is hardly surprising as even Osram's own literature specifies a maximum lumen output of around the same as their standard halogen bulbs.
High beam: well, high beam does appear somewhat whiter, no doubt because of the blue tinted bulb glass around the high beam filament, which actually removes a little of the (yellow) light. So while they appear whiter they are also actually slightly dimmer than standard halogen bulbs.
When you have a yellow-ish light source, there are two ways you can make it appear whiter. Add more blue light at the source to make it brighter and whiter, or remove some of the yellow light with a blue filter. Blue-tinted headlight bulbs work with the second method - subtract a little yellow light ot make for a whiter appearing but dimmer light output.
The same applies to other brands of blue tinted bulbs as well.
As to Osram's claims of "up to 130% more light and up to 40M longer beam" - complete and utter nonsense. I have seen with my own eyes that this claim is basically a lie.
Note that the above review is also true of other brands' fantasy claims of light output as (Philips, Narva etc). Lumen output of all these bulbs is about the same as a "standard" halogen bulb, and in the case of the blue tinted versions, whiter but actually dimmer that standard as well.
In short, a complete waste of money and a shameful rip-off.
Buyer beware!
