Otek PS970 Film Questions & Answers
I haven't used a memory card and now the icon is appearing that my memory is full. How do I delete the images I have already scanned & imported using the usb?
It doesn't have a built in memory, it can only be on a card check to see if there is a card stuck in there somewhere. Sometimes switching off and restarted fixes a lot of problems with technical items hope this helps
how do I delete pslides that are stored on my scanner
i have about 15 photos that are from a previous project and are no longer relevant i am trying to scan 11 new slides but am not getting the option to save
I have inserted a new sdxc card, but when I power the scanner up it tells me first there is no card, then it says a new card has been detected and to restart, then it shuts down. This happens every time I start the scanner. What do I do?
I have the ps-a4 scanner. its new. It flashes green or orange when I turn it on but then that's it. It does nothing else. Any ideas? It occasionally makes a noise when I have turned it on and off a few times
I have just tried to used the slide scanner and the unit locks up. The unit is new out of the box but I did purchase it some time ago. It probably classified as Dead-On-Arrival. Any help? it would be appreciated.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, when you say it locks up do you mean the actual movable plastic slide holder, if so with the unit facing in front of you the slide holder can only be inserted from the right hand side and mine slides all the way through with no problems. If it is something else please let me know and I will see if I can workout what is wrong. Eve
The lock-up is an inability of the unit to scan a slide. That is the unit will not scan and save another slide after scanning and saving 2 or 3 slides.
I have an Otek PS970 Film and Photo Scanner, but I do not know how to use it. Could some one help me pleas?
Hi, When I bought mine it came with little information on how to use it and really in the end it was by trial and error, but I was pleased with the results and copied both slides and printed photographs the results were very good so try not to dispair. I have done a search for you and found this on youtube which shows in detail how to use, I hope you find it helpful. external link
Thank you, but \, I wanted printed instructions because the book is hard to understand
I have an Otek 979 Scanner and generally the results have been excellent. I have scanned photos and find a horizontal band of light appears across the scanned photo. Is this a fault with the scanner
I have checked all the photos that I scanned with the Otek 979 and none of them have any lines going through them, I would check when you insert the photo for scanning to have a look round the edges to make sure it is sitting correctly and that no light is coming in. Hope this helps
Drummergran Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately the result is the same as before. I can only assume that the scanner now has a fault. It has only occurred in the about 15% of the scans which in total there has been around 1500.
Have just purchased the Otek Multi Scanner. Am l able to scan directly into the computer ? It keeps saying to insert a SD card. You are right the user's manual is not much help.
Thank you so much for your assistance.
Hi I haven't tried scanning directly on to a computer it is much easier to scan them directly on to the SD card and then enter them on the computer from the card, I used a 2gig card and got all my 400 slides on it plus there was space for more, an SD card is good for use as a backup as well in case the computer goes wrong, plus to can transfer them anywhere once they are on the card. Hope this helps.
Hi what I meant by my question is, is the quality of the scan of 35mm negative of sufficinet quality to print a 8 x 10 high qulaity photo?
Hi, Sorry I misunderstood, the pictures I took were with a Pentax and we always used Fuji film and the ones I have scanned using the Otek were taken between 1969 and 1975 I haven't printed any of the pictures but the 600 slides that I scanned are on my computer, I inserted one of the images into a word document and increased the size to A4 in landscape and the clarity looked good, the Otek machine is good, if the images vary at all it is not noticeable you can always photo shop to add a few finishing touches
so how big could you do a photo print/enlargement from a scanned 35mm negative on this machine please?
Once you have scanned your negative it is saved on a USB you can then upload the image to a computer and then do the necessary adjustments ie sizing, cropping, enhancements before printer from the computer, alternatively you could take the USB to a photo lab where they would be able to enlarge to any size that you require.
