Oxo Good Grips Pro Jar Opener

We just cannot get this to work – Several people in my family have tried to make this jar opener work. Admittedly, it doesn't come with any instructions so we may be getting it utterly wrong, but that's a number of adults who cannot make it function. It just doesn't seem to have *room* for most jar lids to slot into it. I think once it actually worked on a lid with a lot of effort, but then it really scratched up the lid. Doesn't work; no instructions to enlighten.

Good – my husband brought this for me as he got tired of me saying can you open this?? I keep it at easy reach in the kitchen and use it to open everything it will even open juice and softdrink bottles! He likes it so much that now he uses it for himself too and has brought a second one to take camping! it will open almost any jar sometimes the teeth damage the jar
