Worked fine straight out of the box – This is the first planer/thicknesser that i have owned and used, but i have no complaints, i have made many multiple passes and it has performed great, no snipe and no issues what so ever, i am cautious to make shallow passes and am a very patient person..(not sure if that helps), but so far I'm loving it. Show details

No thrill thicknesser, not a quality product just a cheap tool – It wasn't the product I was planning on buying but I overspent my budget so I wasn't left with much choice. To be honest it am not bagging the machine, it does what it supposed to do and the result isn't bad, it just missing things that would make the job easier. There isn't any dual feed speed, there isn't any gauge to tell you how much you are… Read more

taking off. Out of the box it works but it needs some adjustments, my blades came already with some dents so not completely happy that I will have to get a new set.. the snipes are bad and there's not much I can about it. Overall it's a working unit that got me out of the jam, once calibrated it's accurate, also take small passes so there's no chattering and you definitely need a vac attached otherwise the chips will mark the piece. If you can get something better do it because this unit has the bare minimum.

immoral outcome – dont you think its immoral for a company to produce a fairly heavy product weighing around 25Kg that fails so soon. ie the gear/s that raises and lowers the platen.... a part that is secondary to the function of the product, while the main function, the 'buzzer' still works, for the last thickness used only, and the spare parts to simply fix the… Read more

thing are no longer available, so the product is destined for the crusher! it and the thousands of other thicknessers they made?

Really good – The negative bit first: mine has a slight nick in the blades which leaves a mark on the wood. Bunnings would probably have changed it but I live too far away to bother - anyway the blades are double sided so I could turn them over or I could polish the nick out of the blade. So, not a major problem and it can happen with any brand. Occasionally… Read more

there's a bit of damage to the wood - sniping I think it's called. Really annoying, but it may be my clumsiness.

This is the cheapest thicknesser I've ever used but it's not the worst and, in fact, it's probably as good as any I have used. The manufacturer is insistant that it's for DIY use only so I'm pretty gentle with it. I've had it for a few months now and used it several times without any problems. You definitely need a vacuum cleaner or something to suck the shavings out of it or it will block completely and start throwing them at you. It's also pretty noisy, but I've never come across a quiet planer/thicknesser.

I've used it on hard woods, softwoods and laminated merbau and Tasmanian oak. I also use it on old pallets and sometimes get very nice wood.

Accuracy. Well, this is hard to believe. I was making a guitar and the fretboard has to be completely flat and straight. I took it down to 7 mm on this machine and then glued it to the neck - also finished on this thicknesser. When I came to check it, it was almost perfect.

All in all, I'm glad I got the Ozito instead of paying twice or three times as much for, say, De Walt. Price, warranty, accuracy.
