BASICALLY A BIT OF A TOY – You get what you pay for. Bought mine for when I am travelling. Good for $60 but if you use these tools regularly just pay the extra and buy the more expensive alternative. Bits are weak and break easy. Power cuts out quickly under any sort of pressure. Small jobs only. Good for doing you toenails. Once again just buy a the other option, powerful and they go forever Show details

Did the job perfectly – OK.I give this 5 stars because it enabled me to repair my expensive prescription glasses. The screw holding an arm on broke.Specsavers would/could not repair and referred me to a watchmaker who didnt wanna know.Ozito rotary tool with tiny drill was able to drill out the offending screw without chewing up the hole.Paid for itself in one hit. Show details

Do not buy - get a dremel – I bought one from Bunnings which broke the first time I used it, took it back and got another one, used half a dozen times (on plastic) and broke again. I took it back to Bunnings and got a dremel. I sent two emails to ozito, no reply! Please avoid this product and ozito as a whole Show details

In less than 4 mins gets SO HOT, like lava hot, it cannot be used! serious design problem – Works great...or would if you were actually able to hold it and use it. Took less than 4 mins of use (and only at the second highest setting, not the highest) before it became so unbelievably hot that it could not be used, even with thick gloves. I honestly thought it was going to catch fire! And the scorched smell it put off was god awful. If you… Read more

have any project that requires extended use (ha! 4 mins is hardly what I'd call "extended") then forget this one entirely. A real shame because its a great little kit at a really good price.

A favorite tool in my workshop – Purchased from Bunnings in a case with many accessories for $39 about 5 years ago, as a backup to my Dremel of similar design. Both perform equally well, and both are very well designed. I cannot fault the build quality of the Ozito - it has now had many hours of use, and is still in "as new" condition. Tools of this nature need to be used… Read more

within their capacity, and not abused. I love both of these tools - they have made so many tasks just so easy - an essential in any workshop. However I would not buy another Dramel because of the excessive price - after all they are essentially very simple devices to manufacture, and $200 for the Dramel with only a few accessories is simply too hard to justify. Perhaps it is $20 for the tool and $180 for the name. For the price the Ozito beats the Dremel hands down.

Great entry level tool for the price – I am on my second one now. I returned the first one after it started to vary the speed on it's own. After reading the manual and some information on using rotary tools I realised it was most likely my misuse that caused it to malfunction. Using the right speeds for the attachments will net you good results. The unit is fairly loud when loaded… Read more

so wear ear protection. The flex cable will benefit from lubrication so give it a squirt of WD-40 before use. I have done a tonne of work with mine and it's starting to show signs of wear, but I have gotten more than my moneys worth from it.

I agree with every thing said on the side of the pack, suitable and practical – Think again. You only get what you pay for - half price clearance down at homebase - great. But I agree with every thing said on the side of the pack, suitable and practical. I was more convinced when comparing the dremel in the store, extremely better value, however something else to consider apart from that price, the multi-tool and… Read more

arrangements and is advertised as a quiet model. Weigh up German and also only a small job at the moment. As although am unexperienced to have a go and to quote the dremel. I am and found the Ozito loud, please think on ear plugs over longer than recommended, usual exposure to noise pollution.

I test sample only wood a bit of plywood. A softer form of the hard wood family. In general around 90% of work I got to fair standard finish. Please keep away from manufacturer woods like ply sheet, usually the core is packed and glued together. Etching to this depth is far likely to break up and spoil the finish somewhat terrible. Avoid dried soft woods, tool leaves the surrounding areas more prone and to reduce the quality edge finishing. The engraving adjustment bit is angled 45 degrees. Following the guild line to nose point while keeping the bit flat to surface, steady hand I etched to good accuracy and plain.

Unless familiar to hand tools stay clear to use minor adults also, as this model needs skill levels more for getting the best out of usage. This is only ever achieved with knowhow. Focus and position stroke adjustment is priority.

The template's are useful but need to be locked in position.

This tool overheats and handle becomes hot, uncomfortable to hold over long periods of time. Especially when you use free hand that both takes grit and extra time to get right, caution to detail to etching for good visible marks on work. I rested every 10 minutes to allow the tool to cool down. Perhaps the user can be reassured of the three year warranty I really don't want to use so early on.

Value for money is incredible! - Bunnings after sales service...is incredible! – The tool is cheap. It's a cheap tool. Okay? We have established this? Great. It's not a Dremel, (poverty pack Dremel $70 --> top Dremel $200+), it's an Ozito (poverty pack $25 -->top Ozito $70; inc 190 piece kit). I'm reading other reviews here and they're quite laughable. This tool has been designed to cater for the person who can't afford… Read more

to spend up 'really' big on a Dremel then it's accessories. Heck, that's why I got it. I would have never, ever owned a "rotary tool" but, because of the price and especially the warranty, it's now part of my kit.

The accessories have been replaced with equally cheap ones from eBay (<--- I know that's not part of the Ozito review, but you should read on). Sure, they break, but when I bought 25 wire brush disks, 100 different buffing wheels, 30 engraving drills, at $15 each per set, I can always just grab another from my tool box. The machine itself has completed every job I have assigned to it very well and I haven't been exposed to any of the problems mentioned here; yet.

The thing is really a toy, and it is priced accordingly. The people reviewing this tool with heavily negative opinions seem like they have gone out and bought a Junior Burger and when they got home, expected to find a Big Mac upon opening it...

I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. It's a cheap tool, but it works for me. And, if, for some reason, it stops working for me, Bunnings is pretty much 30 minutes in any direction in even semi built-up areas. No receipt? That's fine, do you have a driver license? Yes? Great, just grab your replacement and sign here on your way out.

If you aren't happy with your purchase, return and replace it 1000 times. Full refund? If you have the original packaging and receipt (and it's not 6 months later or has physical damage and/or wear), the money's yours!

It's a great entry level tool; just perfect!

It has 5 stars not because it's the best tool in the world, but because you cannot get anything better (or even similar) for the outlay. If you find that you are using the tool a lot, and you really need something better, start saving!

Thanks Ozito!

Great price but breaks easily – This only suited to the lightest of work loads. For me the drill bit holder became so tight it couldn't be turned by hand or pliers. After a few seconds of trying with the pliers, the plastic casing just came off in my hand and the parts inside fell out, I narrowly avoided getting an electric shock by the coils inside. The only good thing about this tool is the price, unfortunately I lost the receipt.

Used it for 5 minutes....then nothing – I got the 170w model from Bunnings for occasional use only. Price was fair compared to Dremel. I wasn’t expecting Dremel quality but this is not good. Similar to other users experience i used it 3-4 times only. Last time it coughed a few times then stopped working and nothing. Pretty sure I don’t have a docket as was only $40 or so, but now will cost me more than that to go and buy a proper one. Avoid it, buy a better one.

Disaster from a to z – The tool itself is complete garbage. It may have 170W, but the quality of the parts (parts! not the bits) is terrible. The speed wheel broke in 2 weeks, the bit-holding components wore out and can't hold anything. The flexible drill shaft broke in 2 minutes from inside. Ah yeah, the drill bits are so good it made a mark on my glasses when it broke and flew away.

Thank god for the 3 year warrenty – No more than 25 seconds of cutting and the handle got extremely hot. Less than 5 seconds after that the motor shat itself. Thought it may just be a fluke so I exchanged it for another one, got about 5 whole minutes into the job and the motor sparked out in spectacular fashion with lots of smoke and shrapnel. Take it from me being a cheapskate, spend the extra bucks on a "Dremel" brand rotary tool.

Piece of crap – I had to return my first purchase due to the attachments being missing - not the product's fault, someone had stolen them at the store. However, my replacement crapped out and melted itself after not 5 minutes of use. Burned my fingers pretty badly as well.

Disastrous – Bought this because it is threaded the same as a Dremel tool and I didn't want to keep swapping my Dremel from one attachment to another. Bad mistake. First use was a first pass shallow trench rout for a truss rod on a guitar neck. Felt something was wrong. Checked and found the router bit was wandering and chewing up my expensive wood. front bearing in the rotary tool had collapsed!!!.

Took it back to Bunnings for a refund. In contravention of consumer protection law they refused to give me my money back but gave me a replacement. As if I'd trust another one!

So I gave it away and bought a couple more Dremel tools.

Good value, but needs some attention to detail to work properly – This is a DYI tool. It wouldn't handle a factory environment. I've had 3 probs with mine and appear to have fixed 2 of them, however it is a brand new tool and I shouldn't have to do these things. 1. The tool was running like a 2 stroke mower with a bad plug - I've seen this mentioned on other sites too. In my case it was the carbon brushes.… Read more ·  1

The springs are a bit pathetic and I don't think our little $1 per hour Chinese workers could have given a crap if they did the job properly or not. Take out the brushes, turn them 180 degrees, put back in, and make sure you get the little circular metal thing on the end of the spring properly seated into the plastic lock nut. Best way was is install with the tool upside down. Run at 6 for a few minutes to bed brushes. Problem solved.

2. Handle on extension overheating - I took out the inner flexible shaft and greased it with some HTB grease. I will however, shoot a bit of Lithium spray into the flex as this thing does 35,000 revs and grease is probably a bit too thick for the lubricant. The handle no longer heats up.

3. I find it quite difficult to centre a bit in the flexible handle - these things don't have chucks, they have collets, and it can take a couple of goes to get it centre.

However, the tool seems quite handy for doing those small jobs in tight places, and is currently operating very smooth and nice. I will be hanging onto the receipt tho.

handle heats up to the tempreture of the sun – I use this tool primarily for wood working. The extension that makes using it as a hand tool is pathetic. It heats up too fast. The rubber melted and I've even wrapped rags around it to insulate my hand. Still it gets to hot to hold so I'm constantly stopping and starting and you can't get a replacement "pen" extension. Really annoying.

Very good for the money – I bought this unit about 2 years ago for I think $35 I have probably used it around 10 times all up and it works great ! I haven't had the tightening issue some have had but I do agree the cutting attachments arnt the best I also haven't used the extension piece either, however I've used the machine on a range of things such as car sheet metal… Read more

and boat fibre glass to bore out holes and smooth off edges and a bunch of other stuff and it dose a great job and I'd deffenatly buy another.

This Ozito looks like a dud – I bought the Ozito RTR-040 Rotary Tool kit but it has the same tool in it. It split open. The chuck forced the two halves apart and I was only using the flimsy spanner to tighten the chuck. Strangely, when I returned the unit the rest of the Ozitos had left the shelves. Evidently, they were put on "suspension". It's either a bad batch or a totally… Read more

bad design. The Dremmel is very very expensive. I'm not sure where to go from here. The actual "bits" in the kit are pretty ordinary. I wouldnt use any of the cutting bits. Better to get the dremmel stuff.

I like it but – I bought one on Sunday, and within an hour a vital piece had broken. It was the button you push down to tighten the tool (like the chuck on a drill). I took it back and was given another. Within 5 minutes I bent the shaft just from sanding some rubber. So I have had 2 and broken both within 2 days. I think they are great powerwise, but seem to be lacking in quality. Power. Not tough.
