Panasonic TH-P42GT30A / TH-P46GT30A / TH-P50GT30A / TH-P55GT30A Questions & Answers
VerifiedReading some of the comments is interesting we have had our tv since 2011 and have had no problems at all, I will now be looking for the 7 blinks of death. My question is we have bought a Netgear Wireless Duel Band Adapter WNDA3100V2 which installs on the tv ok but there are very limited apps installed and you can't add extra. Have we installed the correct adapter or is there an upgraded one that installs Iview Netflix YouTube etc.
Hi Andrew, this TV is not able to download the apps you mention.
Many thanks for your prompt reply, I can get the apps I require using Apple tv but it sounds like a tv upgrade is not far away.
This is smart tv?
Yes, but an old one. So it doesn't have netflix app.
Can i have netflix on the tv?
Not directly through the tv from what I remember, it's a bit too old for that. You'll need a media box of some sort, a PlayStation will play Netflix once you download the app and I'm pretty sure an Xbox will as well.
i have a playstation. How do I download the app? I am assuming I would need to have wifi?
Hi Trace, Noah is correct, there are not built in apps for netflix on it, its a little bit old - but you sure can still have netflix on it by using a set-top box, or a playstation, or a chromecast - there are lots of things for them.
First off though you need to have an internet connection (which I am sure you know). All devices that give you netflix will either need to connect to your internet modem with wifi, or ethernet cable (its usually a blue or white cable). Wifi is better just because you dont have to worry about more cables, but you might need to get someone to help you set it up.
Then if you don't have a playstation 4 already (or a Playstation3 I think can do it), I recommend the the Fetch Box - Its an aussie made set-top box and its one of the best around. I have it at home and its awesome. It has an app for netflix, does all of your normal tv stations (and lets you record them of course), and also has extra features like a movie store and some extra channels a bit like foxtel. Best thing is while the outlay is a bit expensive (399 rrp), you dont have to pay any subscription like foxtel, unless you want some additional channels like syfy channel or the comedy channel. Even then the channel packs are only 6$ per pack of around 7-8 channels.
Thanks Chris, I'm so not tech savy, I don't have a computer nor internet at home. And the PlayStation was bought like 10 years ago and never used... So I will endeavour to seek a Fetch box and go from there.
Has anyone had any luck repairing the TH-P46GT30A after it develops the 7 blinking lights of death?
No! 7 lights of death are a clean indicator that one out of 2 major PCB's is dead. They are obsolete as Panasonic don't make them any more, and repair is not practical and expensive. Even if you manage to find new PCB it will cost you one third of new TV, and you don't have a guaranty on that particular product.....get a new TV....
Thanks for that. I thought as much but I'm having difficulty putting a 46 inch TV in the trash when it is relatively young. Never again Panasonic!
Panansonic plasmas are very reliable. However they need cleaning every 3 years. Blinking lights are often the sign that too much dust has got inside. The fans might be stuck or slow. Humidity might cause poor contact. Most of the time, one just opens the back of it. Use a strong hair driver set to lowest heat and maximum fan speed. Blow all dust away and dry everything up. Then it comes back to life again. Even with much worse problem where the colours look funny or half of teh screen turned off, same technique can be used. But one will have to buy a bottle of electronic circuit board cleaner spray (must be certified for electronic boards). Unscrew the board at the middle and disconnect the cable that has lots of pins (probably 50 pins). There is only 1 cable any way. Use the spray to "wash" the socket and the plug. Should do same for all sockets and plugs that are easily accessible (just to make sure) and blow dry like above. That will bring them back to life. I had fixed 2 Panasonic this way. One of them is a very expensive plasma display for home theatre and the other is a TV. Good like new!!!
Have they solved the problem with the buzz in previous models ,if so where can i purchase one? I live in moss vale, NSW
yes
