Peck's Salmon & Lobster Tasty Spread

sloppy pecks paste
I remember your great products when I was young....always a great snack on sladas after school. Unfortunately the product has gone downhill, now when you spread it on a salada it's that sloppy it runs through the holes on the biscuit, making an unnecessary mess. Maybe the exta liquid in the spread isn't warrented.

Peck's Salmon and lobster Spread
I purchased this product last Tuesday 3 November 2020 from a Woolworths store. Upon opening the jar there was this light greyish pink looking product with a liquid on the surface. It did not smell like the old Salmon and lobster paste, looked at the label and it is made in France. Tasted a small sample on the end of a knife, taste was off, seemed as though the sand was still in the lobster, had to spit it out. This is not the same product that I had at least 2 years ago, different colour, texture, smell and taste. I will no longer purchase any Pecks products made in France. The rating is one star, I could not get a quarter of the star.

They have changed it back to the way it was
Just tried some from a new batch from Woolworths and it appears to have the same consistancy and colour as it used to be. I guess the company can't win because I preferred it when it was runny

Sloppy mush
I've been enjoying these products for nearly 60 years but now it's not even close to the original. It's not paste,!
It's sloppy grey slop.
The Anchovette used to have a lovely hit of salty anvhovy taste but not now.
Is anyone who is involved with this product actually reading the reviews?
No more for me, I've tried 4 different batches thinking it was just me.
I won't be buying this again .

Corn flour makes it Sloppy and Gross!
I have figured out what they have done, the Pecks paste that is still good Has Wheat flour in it, and the Pecks paste that is all sloppy has corn flour in it, the corn flour is braking down, and the wheat flour is not, so until they use wheat flour again in all Pecks paste, the corn flour ones will be sloppy, which is really gross!

Used to be great, is now ruined
What was once the best spread is now awful and I will no longer be buying it. It's oily and tastes almost as if it is off.

Love these pastes
Love these pastes - read other reviews and don’t quite understand negativity towards change from original formula - it’s different consistency and colour but still tastes good.

This product is ruined.
I dont even rate this product now. I used to love it, but the recipe has changed. It is 51% salmon and used to be 68%. I threw the last one I purchased out without even trying it. I thought it was off being so runny and the colour was more of a brown colour than the pinkish colour it had been. It is more of a liquid than a spread. Very sad they have ruined this product. I won't be buying it again until
the ingredients and quality are as they used to be.

Terrible and no longer Australian
They have changed the formula of most of their products and are now making their range IN FRANCE, not Australia. The Salmon and Lobster paste now for example, contains Codfish and very little Salmon. It also contains an incredible amount of PALM OIL, a very environmentaly unfriendly product. The taste is now appalling. Oily and sour. Their website says that they only use sustainable ingredients. Well PALM oil is not sustainable as vaste areas of rainforest are being cleared to grow it. It's very sad Pecks are doing this as I have loved the products for years. Now just about everything about the product is rubbish.

Pecks Salmon and Lobsters Paste
I have been using Pecks Salmon and Lobster Paste since 1971 and before. What have you done it is terrible. It's runny, terrible taste, not even the same colour. I won't be buying the product anymore unless you change the recipe back to the way it was.

France has wrecked a great product.
Awful. What have they done to it. I also bought Anchovette, my favourite, it was worse. Runny, actually sloppy. I could nearly pour it on go my toast. The taste was nearly the same which was one consolation. I will not buy again unless it improves. If I could have given the both of them no stars I would have.

Not What It Used To Be
I've purchased four bottles from different shops over the last few weeks and all have gone into the rubbish bin. It's all been liquid, oily mush and hardly spreadable. Certainly not the old "fish paste" of my youth. I initially thought the first bottle was "off", but the next three were just as bad. Maybe the manufacture in France has something to do with it.

Oily rubbish
Same comments about the runny oily rubbish and dissapointment the same as everyone else that liked the original receipe and supplier. This product won't last long on the shelves as its crap and has been dropped on us loyal customers from a great height.

UGH nasty
I bought a jar a few months ago and thought it was off. It looked an awful colour and was runny and oily. I couldn't eat it. I just opened another (newly purchased) jar a few days ago bought from a different store, and it was just as nasty. I'm quite sad about it as the Salmon and Lobster Paste was my favourite treat spread. I hope they fix the recipe. Just an interesting observation. I buy a certain cat food that and they recently changed the recipe (tuna/salmon etc) and it now has the same smell and consistency as that new Salmon and Lobster "paste". Both of them have a gritty texture too.

The ingredients stated awhile ago that it was 68% salmon - what bloody nonsense - more like 68% diaper contents !!
I agree with you, been eating pecks for 60 years people know the difference
Yes it’s terrible, watery, oily & when you open the lid it runs out and it stinks

Why has my Salmon an Lobster spread split, and why is Woolworths still selling it.
I haven't seen it with oily top before, is this normal?

Something has gone wrong with manufacturing. It was sloppy crap a few years back when they outsourced its manufacturing so we didn’t buy it for a year or so then it came good again but now it’s back to slop. Why the British home Office doesn’t take some notice of what a terrible product is being produced in their name is beyond me. There is a much larger bottle of Pecks which is made in South Africa and only sold on the ‘specialty’ shelf at Woolworths which is a reasonable facsimile to the original.
