Peninsula Curtains and Blinds

Extremely disappointed – This company is too difficult to deal with if the newly installed product is faulty. The finance and control Manager is obviously the decision maker and only has a one track mind. Had she issued us with a refund for the faulty venitian blinds we now could have had better quality blinds installed but instead our "repaired" blinds are waiting for installation some time in the new year because their installers are not around my area during this busy period and don't work after 3.30pm. Consumer Affairs clear states that I'm entitled to a refund but Peninsula Curtains and Blinds prefer to the decision of No No No refund. Stupidly this control Manager sent me an email that was sent by their supplier suggesting she can make the decision to refund or not . Obviously her idea of major or minor fault and my deformed blinds idea of faulty are quite different. hmm. A simple refund for these blinds would have been appreciated, I later could have used this company for the rest of the work that was quoted, and referred them on to many other clients. Really disappointing experience.
Customer service – The cord mechanism on our lovely Roman stopped working so I called the maker of it, Peninsula Curtains, today. The response “you’ll need to buy a new blind”. My response” it cost over $1500- and is otherwise in perfect condition”. I got “ oh well, you could try Spotlight”. I rang Roslay Rosebud. The lovely Jordan said “easy to replace. We will source one. We can fit or you can. Have a great day.” Peninsula Curtains: you know not everyone can afford to replace a perfectly good blind for want of a broken mechanism?
Very unprofessional and terrible after sales service – Do not go near this company. They were very expensive, did a poor job and have not come back to rectify the situation with appropriate blinds which they promised. This is despite two of their own staff acknowledging to us on two separate occasions that the blinds were not fit for purpose nor installed properly. We ordered blinds which were supposed to be: • Block out blinds. The blinds not only look ugly, but they only partially block out the light. They were not measured properly or installed with care and are far worse (in terms of keeping the light out) than the blinds that were originally there. • Fitted in keeping with the way the blinds have been fitted in the rest of the house. Instead there are ugly blind rollers about a foot above the window frames which means that there is wall both underneath and above where the blinds have been installed. This means that there is no way to cover the blinds when up in contrast to every other blind in the house.
We have not been able to sleep in past 5am since the blinds arrived, not to mention the constant clanking of the metal bottoms of the blinds which hit the walls with the slightest breeze We have now had to move to another room to sleep.
Despite numerous requests for assistance they have not returned our calls or emails and we have now had to commence legal action against them.
Poor standards. Poor service – Ordered 2 x block out drapes for large windows. Original measurements were incorrect so when they arrived they were too long. Taken back and readjusted. When they were brought back the second time the pleats at the top were all uneven and length now was correct in some parts of the curtain but in others still too long. Returned for a second time. Third time to be installed, there were endless issues with the fixing to the walls as they were heavy (but this is what the company does for a living so you would think they would know how to install). The installer could not do the job, so they were left overnight and another installer arrived the following day. He seemed to know what he was doing, and up they went. Unfortunately the tiebacks were too small to allow for the curtains to be tied back. At this point I gave up and told them not to bother that I would just leave it. That was some months ago. The other night the curtains came tumbling down, the whole track pulled out of the wall and it bent, leaving gaping holes where the installer had drilled only into plaster. Called the company, complained and asked them to arrange for curtains to be rehung, too busy!!!! My husband and son have fixed and we have re-installed ourselves. Disaster of a company with no after sales service and a don't care attitude for terrible workmanship. AVOID.
