Very disappointed with this purchase. A PENN surf rod used only 3-4 times is now unusable due to a dislodged tip guide ring and it can’t be replaced (repair kits are available but if you've never done it before it's a bit dodgy and the rod will never be 100%). This happened just two months out of warranty and customer service, if you want to call it that, offered no support beyond quoting the policy and providing ear music. Considering competitors offer far longer warranties than 12 months (10 years for Shimano), I’ll be switching brands going forward.

DO NOT BUY PENN FISHING GEAR We brought two of the Penn Warhorse rod & reel combos from anaconda 6 months ago, they have been used in salt water 5 times and after each time they are cleaned with fresh water then sprayed with tackle guard and wiped over. All the screws on the reels have rusted out and now something has let go inside of them so when you reel then take your hand off they spin back the other way letting all the line out. We attempted to return these faulty products to Anaconda which is where we purchased them from who attempted to get us a refund from Penn who’s response was no refund or replacement as it’s user error, Anaconda then told us that Penn Fishing Australia are like this with all their product returns and that the “10 year warranty” means nothing. We then contacted Penn and were told the same thing again and then we were abused over the phone by the returns manager. Needless to say we will never purchase another Penn product. Absolutely pathetic !!

Sent my reel off with some trepidation – After reading the previous ratings here, it was with some trepidation that I sent my Penn Slammer III 4500 off for service following a hard season tangling with solid kings and a Mako shark. I was told to expect three weeks. To my delight, I got my reel back good as new in just over a week

Worst customer service ever – I've being trying to contact Penn Fishing Australia via their customer care email address and their 1800 number. Trying to order spare parts. After sale service non existent.. They never respond to emails and no one answers their 1800. The 1800 number rang for 15 minutes without response before I ended the call. Pathetic service. No point have an email address and 1800 number if there is no one at the other end to respond!!

Never again buying Penn equipment and nor is our club.

Absolutely poor customer service!!!
