Petcube Play

Works but could be better – When I purchased this product I was unaware that you would have to pay a subscription service to be able to take photos or videos or even be notified when your pet was making noise using the petcube, this limits its functionality and how appealing it is. This is because all I can do without a subscription is go into the app and check on the dog when I am on a break and not be notified if something is happening.

Amazing product, faulty technical design – I purchased two pet cube plays, so I could interact with my pets when I am away from home. The idea is brilliant! I can keep an eye on my pets and also interact with them from anywhere in the world via my mobile phone! I would pay a lot more than the RRP of $260.00 if it actually worked!! But it doesn't.... The ideas is.... I set up this little unit somewhere where my pets often are, and I can view them, talk with them via the two way microphone, play a lazer game and record movements (including night vision) via my mobile phone! There is a wide angle (240 degrees I think?) that captures the whole room when positioned correctly, and good quality night vision that automatically set up once the room is dark enough. The camera is either activated when I turn it on, or through sound and/or movement activation. Set up is easy, and the cam itself is beautiful. The power must run thorough a long power cable... batteries not an option.... I can deal with that.... but now sure how safe it is for pet owners who fur babies like to chew things, or for the minimalists who don't like long cords.... What I find so frustrating and the only deal breaker, is that 70 % of the time, when I try to connect to the cam.... it doesn't work... the camera is disconnected. If my internet can run netflix, I think its reasonable that I could run a pet cam. Oh, and the lazer function never works either - each time I try to play with the lazer, the video cuts out and freezes. Customer service has been great, as great as they can be and really helpful... but issue still not solved. For the RRP of $260, you are better off getting a nanny cam or something else if you want to engage with your pets. The product is unreliable. If it actually worked I would pay $500.00 for it.... but it doesn't. Pet Cube's response was that it was likely due to my internet causing the disruption, I should try to move the cam to an area in the house with better internet strength.... but as I sad... I stream music and movies.... I download lots of stuff.... I have good internet.... Moving it around the house to get connected isn't really great and kind of defeats the purpose.... Maby I just need amazing internet for this to work... maby its technologically inferior.... Sorry Pet Cube... keep working on the technology.... I will be first to buy the new generation Pet Cube Play!
