Excellent for the price – I have had this receiver for a number of years since it was first released and have not needed to change it or upgrade it yet, although this may change in the near future. It has performed reliably over this time and sounds good for the money spent. I purchased this unit from JB HiFi for about $999 so at the less expensive end of the home theater… Read more
receiver price range. I have this set up in a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos configuration with 2 speakers in the front high position. They can also be configured for rear highs which is my preference but I cannot do in my current set up. This amp is used everyday for normal TV viewing, movies and for gaming with my Xbox Series X. Here is the only reason I am likely to look at other options. As it is an older receiver it does not support higher frame rate video which my Xbox is able to output. At the moment I use 4k @ 60Hz which it handles fine. When I do upgrade I will likely replace with another Pioneer.
Im at the cinemas – This Pioneer VSX-932 receiver is fantastic to start off with. Now the system is 7.2 surround sound, however I am running it at 5.1 and too note it has Atmos however I haven't actually gotten around to buy some Atmos speakers yet so will be discussing the features this receiver gives leaving the Atmos part out, hoping that will change soon! … Read more
The sound quality is fantastic, especially if you have decent speakers to go with the receiver, surround sound is great, with chromecast built into the receiver, I can enjoy streaming music or podcasts from my mobile device. The receiver itself is easy to set up, especially when you have it attached to your TV with a graphic user interface, it literally saves time compared to the older days when you relied upon seeing the LCD display on the receiver itself. I cannot find any faults with the Pioneer VSX-932 and the fact that it up-scales video content to 4k is brilliant, though you this really only applies to 1080 but in all you experience better quality picture upon all scales.
I bought this from JBHifif and was a good price, on special and it wont break your bank account, its a major improvement to my older receiver another pioneer btw and have been pleasantly surprised by it. I do not see input lag for visual display nor any lag in audio display to visual output and the only reason why I took 1 star away is that I feel the remote they supply could have been better, could have been Bluetooth signalling or similar rather than infra-red design, saves pointing the remote. It does have Bluetooth so you can use your phone where ever and I do believe you can sync up speakers for wireless connection.
If your looking for a great receiver that can produce great music and give you the latest in innovation without breaking your bank account, I do recommend this Pioneer VSX-932, but have good speakers. Pioneer is a great brand in home audio for many years
Amazing home theatre amp packed with features! – I've owned this amp for just over 6 months now and could not be happier. Fantastic home theatre sound and excellent when playing music too. Packed with features and excellent adjustment. Love the airplay and iPad/iPhone apps too! 6 HDMI inputs which is more than i need. Easily 5 stars. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone! Music and sound. Easy setup. Apps. AirPlay.
Poor performing item – After doing some online research about features etc. I ended up deciding on the Pioneer VSX-921-K amplifier. This is a mid-range amplifier produced by Pioneer. One would expect Pioneer products to be quite good in performance and reliability, however I can vouch in the opposite. In November 2011 I purchased this particular amplifier for my… Read more
home cinema setup. In January 2012 the amplifier started to display problems with its operation. It would randomly turn itself off and would require disconnection from the mains power to fix the problem. By the end of January 2012 it had stopped working altogether. I contacted Pioneer Australia and they tried to troubleshoot the problem, however this failed to rectify the problem. Pioneer then directed me to send it to their authorised service agent some 300kms away.
After having my amplifier for two weeks I received a call from the servicing agent that the amplifier was not repairable and needed to be returned to Pioneer. I contacted the retailer in which I purchased the unit and with their assistance I managed to get a replacement amplifier organised. All good right? Wrong.
I had the new replacement amplifier for about a month and it too started signs of problems. Though this time it was showing a different error. On the first amplifier the power suddenly switched off and the Advanced MCACC light flashed. On the second amplifier the power suddenly switched off and the iPod, iPhone, iPad light continued to flash.
I have serious trust issues surrounding the quality and reliability of Pioneer after this experience. Though I am yet to contact Pioneer on the problems with the second amplifier, I am extremely hesitant to recommend Pioneer to anyone after these issues.
Therefore it is my recommendation to make sure people do their research prior to purchasing this particular amplifier or any other Pioneer amplifier at this stage. Once upon a time I wouldn't have hesitated in recommending Pioneer, but those times are passed and now I have the onerous task of having to deal with Pioneer again in order to solve the problem with my second amplifier. Straight forward operation, smartphone app for additional control, Apple Airplay capability, reasonably priced Poor reliability, poor servicing arrangements, Brand name has no further meaning in terms of quality and reliability
A highly capable and well performing amplifier – Input sources used: TViX PVR, Apple TV, XBOX 360, Samsung BD Player Video output: Samsung LCD TV Connections used: HDMI, component, optical, ethernet to network bridge for DAB and DLNA 5.1 speaker setup Remote control: LogiTech Harmony 300 and iControlAV2 on HTC handset Rich in functionality and configuration. MCACC very good. AirPlay and… Read more
iPod/iPad/iPhone support. Can stream music directly from the HTC handset to the amp. Will require studying the manual unless you are an experienced audiophile. Produces great sound; plenty of connections, functionality and features; great app for handset No phono input, bluetooth and wireless adapter is optional extras
A good unit, good options, tricky to set up properly – Having only owned this item for the past month I have to say that I haven't even scratched the surface in terms of customizing and fully learning all the features, however I must note that for the beginner audiophile this is a little daunting to get right. I am sure that the intermediate/expert user would have no problems setting this amp up in… Read more
record time, but I guess that this amp really isn't targeted at the expert or maybe even the intermediate user. To me I believe that this unit is more targeted at the beginner given that this amp sits at the more entry level of the market when compared to other amps.
The amp was easy to set up in terms of plugging in your devices and speakers and it was relatively easy setting up the speaker output via the MCACC. In fact the MCACC is a godsend for all the beginners out there who don't necessarily have the keen ear of the experts.
Though the setup starts to get really complicated when trying to set up the radio, save presets and access the alleged DAB. Reading the instructions leaves a lot to be desired and it assumes that you have a certain amount of understanding in many areas as the instructions fail to completely cover everything the beginner needs.
The reason I purchased this amp in particular was due to its many options available, Pioneer is a trusted name and the smartphone apps available to operate the amp without the need to pick up the remote control.
Once you have the amp connected to your home network then things become fun. I enjoy using my iPhone or iPad as a remote control and they do a pretty good job of covering the operating needs. In fact I found that the supplied remote control stopped working when I went into Internet Radio, but the iPhone app worked without a hitch. I don't know why this was as it worked perfectly prior to entering HMG mode, but then the remote refused to operate and I was left using my iPhone to control the amp, but that worked out for the better anyway. Plenty of connections, good looking unit, MCACC setup, smartphone app terrific Difficult to fully customize without spending hours upon hours fiddling, instructions leave a lot to be desired, DAB radio seems to be hidden
Brilliant piece of kit. Too complicated to setup without a manual. Doesn't come with one – The system has a lot of ability, but needs things to added to take advantage of some of these. The internet radio option can be used, but wireless costs £100 more for the AS-WL300 wireless bridge. This is not what it is called, but this is what it is. The unit comes with a LAN port, so linking it into the ADSL router via another piece of kit is a… Read more
bridge!!
I cannot properly use the radio. I was told it comes with AM, FM & Digital Radio (DAB), but cannot find the digital band. I cannot use any of the presets available. There are 63 available. This is because there is no decent manual.
The manual that comes with it, both the paper and the CD version for the PC, are only concerned with the inital setup. Plugging things in, connecting wires, using the MCACC, but nothing asbout using it. Tuning the radio using all the other spurious buttons on the remote.
So good bit of kit, but the learning curve is too difficult and long. I am still searching for a manual on-line.
I knew I was going to have to learn something to get it setup properly, but I did expect quite a bit of it to be common sense. Style, abilities, separate zone control No user manual, Complicated setup
