great quality highly recommended – I Purchased 2 pods for my Aldi coffee machine and I love them! because I can use my own coffee I'm able to save money by not having to buy aldi pods! great quality highly recommended.
Awful service – The advertised free shipping for orders over $89 was not honoured on checkout for my initial attempt, and the postage was more than my order. I emailed them about it - no reply (over weeks). I rechecked, and shipping dropped to various amounts until I got it for around $10 (still not free as advertised). I would've stopped there as it all seemed… Read more
too dodgy, but I had successfully ordered from them before. Finally got my order - which was incorrect. No surprise with no reply from them. I would not order from them again and do not recommend.
Terrible product - Terrible Customer Service DO NOT BUY – Got the pod, worked for a week, then it broke my coffee machine. Got my coffee machine fixed and now the pod won’t work at all. Wasted money. + When asking for a refund they are very slow to reply requesting that you spend your own money on shipping to get a refund on a faulty product. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Show details

I love the Pod Star reusable coffee pods – I have two re usable pods that I use every day and I love them. I feel so great each time I use them because I'm not creating any waste but I'm able to make a great coffee with my pod machine. They are so easy to use and easy to clean. I'm very happy with my re usable pods and would recommend them to any one. Show details · 1

Buyer Beware – Buyer Beware - Dont Waste Your Money! The Other 1 Star Reviews Are Accurate These pods do not work as advertised. They barely push any coffee through and jam up your machine. Save your time and money and purchase actual pods. When you contact the company they provide contradictory advice in relation to the coffee grinds (I tested all three… Read more
courses) and tell you not to use fine grinds (despite the test samples they send you being fine grinds) and all the videos on their socials are coffees being made with fine grinds. They simply do not work.
When contacting the company they refuse to accept a return or refund and instead write condescending emails "offering to help you use the pods correctly" when in reality its just a crap product that does not work well.
This company violates Australian Consumer Law with their practices and instead tries to put the onus on the customer. I have honestly never met a more condescending customer service team.

Better coffee than any of the disposables using some really nice equipment! – I can't compare podstar to other re-fillable capsules because I haven't tried any others, but I can't see myself trying the others because podstar are so good. I ordered some podstar pre-ground coffee as well as the capsules and found that made the best coffee I'd had so far out of my nespresso compatible machine. It was better than any of the… Read more · 2
nespresso brand capsules that came with the machine, better than any bought disposable capsules, better even than the individually foil wrapped Aurora capsules. Basically I found little difference between all the disposable capsules I've bought but the podstar pre-ground coffee in the podstar reusable capsules had more flavour and was comparable to a good cafe coffee.
I use two capsules per coffee, but I also use two capsules per coffee with all the disposable capsules as well, sometimes two capsules and a third capsule of decaf to try to top it up without losing flavour. Podstar recommend to invariably use two capsules per coffee.
The equipment is top quality, impeccably packed. The tamper is like an ornament, solid metal, pleasant to hold. I can't see how it could better. It's all top quality metal equipment.
It feels great to have this equipment because you know regardless of the supply of capsules, or if they stop making the capsules, you can make a better coffee using this equipment, which will last a lifetime. As long as you can get coffee beans you can grind it and pop it in a capsule and make a coffee, no waste.
If you're used to taking disposable plastic (or aluminium) capsules out of a box and sticking them in your machine, these re-usable capsules take a bit longer and need cleaning up. It's well worth it, certainly even just for the flavour, and perhaps you can think of it like a rest. You don't just rush in grab a coffee and leave, you need to fill and tamp, and there's washing up afterwards.
I bought 4 capsules and am glad I did. If there's two of you, you can fill 4 capsules = 2 coffees and worry about the washing up later. If you've got 2 used capsules you haven't emptied yet from your last coffee you can still just get another coffee and do washing up later.
To fill takes a little time and so far I've used a bowl to catch the fallout. Podstar do this on their videos. I can't think of any other way of doing it. Podstar also use a brush (!) to dust off coffee before screwing the capsule lid on. I find it very easy to brush it off with my fingers or give a gentle blow. I can't see myself getting a brush as well!
So to fill, get out your capsules, your coffee, your spoon and your tamper and a bowl and fill the capsules one by one. It's not instant like a disposable but it doesn't take long, and it's kind of a nice break. I find the tamper is somehow better than using the podstar spoon which fits inside the capsule specifically for the purpose of tamping, but the spoon is already in your hand, so in practice I find I will tamp during fill, with the spoon, and finish with a tamp using the tamper before putting on the lid. You don't want to tamp too heavily anyway, and that method works out fine. Brushing coffee grinds off the screw threads is easy to do with your finger and the lids go on easily. You then have the bowl with a bit of unused coffee left in it to put back into the coffee bag. If you kept your coffee in a wide mouth jar you might be able to skip the bowl and that step by filling the capsules over the jar.
I found putting the capsules in the machine took some care, almost like they were too big or too strong for the machine the first time I tried it, but I found you just need to position carefully and they fit fine. Ejecting the pods is funny as they fall into the basket with quite a thud. They're not disposable plastic things, they're solid metal.
I find the used coffee doesn't come out of the pods easily. You can't just bang it on the side of the bin / compost container and expect it to fall out in a neat lump. I used the handle of a teaspoon or something to try to flip as much as I can out and then end up washing the remainder out in the sink. I don't think soap is necessary. They clean up quickly in just water.
Better coffee than any of the disposables using some really nice equipment!
Easier than I expected, feels so good – I love our Nespresso machine, especially since I have stopped buying takeaways during the pandemic. I started feeling sadder and sadder though about throwing away pods. I tried collecting them up and sending them in to the special recycling centre but it was such a hassle to store enough to send, and it is burning up fuel and using more packaging… Read more
to be travelling that far.
I hesitated to switch to reusable pods, thinking it would be inconvenient. I have been surprised that I find it easy to fill the pods. Even fun, screwing the little steel lids on and inhaling the lovely rich smell of ground coffee. I actually enjoy the flavour more than the various single use pods I’d tried.
I initially purchased the starter family pack - Contained four reusable pods, Coffee, tamper and scoop. Within a week I was so satisfied that I ordered a ten pack so that we can have a few filled and ready to go through the week.
I feel so happy knowing I’m no longer adding to landfill and can still enjoy the flavour ease of a pod machine.
The only downside is the upfront cost of the purchase. But that’s still cheaper than pods in long run.
I hope everyone who’s using single use pods gives this a try.

Great Tasting Coffee – Love the coffee and have ordered some more. Followed the instructions carefully and took a while , some practice but I got there and love using the reusable pods. Podstar for Nespresso – I was given the Podstar Barista Pack for Nespresso for Christmas. The system works really well and the capsules fit easily into my Nespresso Citiz. Everything is easy to use and I found the YouTube videos made by Podstar really helpful to get myself set up. This is a great purchase for the environmentally conscious or even those that just want to have a bit of fun with their at home coffee set up. Show details
Negative reviews
hard to use needs a specific coffee other wise coffee is terrible – I purchased the pods and some accessories the pods need a very specific coffee to work which they don't tell you until you have a problem. They won't refund as these are not fit for the purpose they were bought for. Australian Law states they have to refund if the product isn't fit for purpose and specifics about coffee types aren't expressly explained Show details

Broke my partner’s machine – I bought the pods for my partners Nespresso vertuo machine and after less than 2 weeks of use it broke the machine and Nespresso won’t warrant it. I approached pod star for a refund and for them to honour there 30 day guarantee, which they declined because I didn’t have the original packaging. Show details

Broke my Nespresso machine from the first use of Podstar pods – From the first use of the podstar pods, my Nespresso machine has been faulty. I can no longer use normal pods, the pod does not get pierced and just water flows into the cup. One pod out of 6 works. The Podstar pod delivers watery coffee no matter how it is packed in. A complete waste of money buying the pack of pods, coffee grinder and bag of coffee. I now hope my Nespresso machine can be repaired, if not I'm up for $400 for a new one. Show details

Espressotoria pod not great! – For the Espressotoria machine the pod doesn't really cut it unfortunately. Tried with a few different coffees ground differently and it just came out super watery and weak no matter what I tried. Bit disappointing but glad I gave it a go! My machine may also not be the best, but it works just fine with regular pods so not sure it's that. Show details

Just Perfect – I was hesitant and resistant to buy a Nespresso machine for 2 years even though my roommate was eager to have one because I didn’t think that it was ecologically sound to use disposable pods nor could I find any good product on Amazon that had excellent reviews for completely stainless steel usable pods. About a month ago, Nespresso had an… Read more
excellent sale on their machines 30% off and I felt it was time to jump on the sale. Thereafter, I looked up and down the Internet to find good reusable pods and I happened to come across one review that mentioned pods stars and how happy they were with the product.
Long story short, the pod stars are excellent. Use a fine grind and you are all set! We grind our coffee beans at our local grocery store and use the fine grind setting. Our coffee tastes way better and much fresher than the Nespresso disposable pods. I bought the 10 pod stars pack as we sometimes entertain friends.
Feels good – Every morning when I make my coffee in a Pod Star pod, not only do all my senses heighten but I feel great knowing that I am not adding to landfill. Having reusable coffee pods shows my family that this is one way I can tangibly reduce garbage. I use the grounds on the garden so creating soil and mulching my pot plants. All in all, each morning, I smell the coffee, drink the coffee, reuse the pods. What is there not to like? Show details
Makes great coffee – I bought PodStar capsules to replace reusable pods I got from Amazon. The Pod Star pods are 10 times better. I appreciate that they sent me a sample coffee so I could see how to grind beans with my burr grinder. This has helped me make great coffee from the first cup! They also gave me some written recommendations for the best practices of… Read more

very useful product – Pods made from high quality metal which is important for pods for long time use (I hope for life). Pods perfectly fitted in my Espressotoria machine, I am happy with coffee made ! Show details
Change my mind – I previously stated I wasn’t that keen on Podstar coffee capsules but now after a few more tries I’ve changed my opinion. It was probably me not using the pods correctly. I found you need to tamp the coffee down more and use two pods. The coffee is now excellent. Show reply

Thanks for a great product! It’s paid for itself many times over already!
Absolute godsend for a lovely coffee with minimal waste – I have avoided using our coffee machine because I don’t like the waste and don’t always like the flavours. These pods are a lifesaver. that great crema, and it’s best to do it over a dish so you don’t accidentally spill anything. Cleaning is easy, as long as you don’t rush and stick your fingers in the still hot grounds. We will be working through our remaining store-bought pods to convert permanently to these reusable pods.
These were the coffee pods I was looking for! – I hate waste. Massively. So wherever and whenever I can buy a sustainable solution, I am always there. Plus, I have yet to find a pod that I've been 100% happy with so the promise of selecting my own ground coffee was exciting! After much research I decided to go with PodStar. After blundering my initial order (somehow I managed to order the… Read more · 1
wrong type of pods), my experience with the team was fantastic; they happily exchanged my pods for the RIGHT ones in a prompt and professional manner. I also bought a scoop and a tamper for them as I already have a coffee grinder at home (and another set for the in-laws).
I consider myself to be somewhat of a coffee connoisseur and only initially bought my machine to save money because I found most barista's presented me with a slightly burnt, mildly disappointing cup of coffee and I resented paying $4 for it. Since my pods arrived, I have made many cups of delicious coffee. Do they taste the same as buying a GOOD coffee from a barista? Almost. Do they taste better than pods? A firm yes. Do they taste better than the average coffee from a barista? Hell yes!
It took me a couple of tries to make sure I was tampering it correctly but my flow, density and flavour has, for the most part, been great and like I said, much better than my pods and most of the barista made coffee's I have had. I also have delicious, pretentious artisan beans so perhaps that has helped.
Either way, I have zero regrets since purchasing my pods and now I can enjoy my coffee at home whilst also enjoying the fact that I am not accumulating any waste (and my plants will enjoy the coffee beans in their soil)! They're the gift that keeps on giving.
Good but takes a bit to get right – I bought two pods in the hope of reducing waste (coffee pods have never sat well with me) and also because I think daily accumulated exposure, albeit admittedly small, to aluminium in regular Nespresso pods is probably not ideal. If you like a strong coffee, one pod is not enough - definitely buy two. I tried filling the pods and then tamping the… Read more · 1
coffee down, filling them and not tamping them down, filled to the top, not quite filled to the top etc and nothing seemed to fix the problem of a very slow pour (dripping after five seconds or so). I have bought the coffee grounds Pod Star sell which is apparently ground to suit these pods and still I have the slow flow problem.
Last week I tried filling the pod halfway, tapping the pod on the bench, filling again to the top and then tap again quite hard on the bench (no tamping down at all) and this seems to be the most effective. The coffee is still not quite as strong as I would like and the flow not particularly fast, but I figure the lack of waste and healthier coffee is probably worth the trade off. I guess it just depends on how concerned you are for what you're putting into landfill and your body on a daily basis. The pods are expensive but they really are well made and I quite like my morning ritual of pod filling. Pod Star staff are very receptive to messages too, which is good.
