Thank you so much for your question. Switching to reusable pods is an awesome thing to do and thank you for choosing Pod Star. The coffee ultimately is fresher and tastier, but the initial transition can be a little frustrating. I’m sorry to hear you are struggling to make a good coffee and I feel for you - coffee is life! Pods require a certain grind size of coffee. That’s the main thing to get right and I can help you find the right grind. We have a lot of resources available on our website, but for more personal assistance, please email us at hello@podstar.com.au so we can find out which machine and which coffee you’re working with, and what process you’ve tried. We’re very keen to help, and it’s always a pleasure when you’re finally drinking delicious coffees, waste-free using your pod machine. I look forward to hearing from you. In the meantime, in case you missed the guide we sent, I’ll attach a link for it here: external link

I've never had a problem with watery coffee but so far I've only used the Podstar pre-ground coffee. I guess it's probably important to get the size of the grind right. Podstar website has information about that. Apparently the normal grind size in supermarket coffees is a kind of generic grind size more suited for jugs or something?

Hi Kirsten, We've tried the pods with the coffee supplied by Pod Star and it was watery. We also have tried various finer grinds (as we have a grinder) and finer grind nearly blew up our machine due to pressure build-up. Sorry to report, but we agree with the many one star reviews stating that the coffee was watery when using your pods which in unfortunate because we were looking forward to coffee using environmentally friendly pods and also cheaper in the long run.

I’m sorry, I’m really not sure why you are struggling with the pods, but I would be happy to watch a video of your process and give you feedback. Please email it to hello@podstar.com.au - also please let us know your order number so I can see what you are working with. Thanks so much! I look forward to helping. You will need to reach out on email to us though.

Hi Thea and Tony, Only Nespresso machine users get Pod Star capsules with silicon rings. They aren’t required for making great coffee, they help create a good fit in your machine if the pods aren’t already going in snugly. While you get a total of 2 with your pod purchase, they last 1-2 years if you don’t put them in the dishwasher, and if you want to replace them they are available on our website. I hope that helps! Please contact us at hello@podstar.com.au if you have any other questions. Thanks so much, Kirsten

Hi Thea and Tony, Thanks for asking! These are silicon rings that you can use on your pod to hold it in place in your machine. They aren’t required for the pods to make great coffee, so if you already have a snug fit in your Nespresso, you can take the ring off. You will have received 2 extra silicon rings, each one lasts around a 1-2 years if you keep them out of the dishwasher. If you ever need more, they are available on our website. I hope that helps and please contact us via our website chat or on email hello@podstar.com.au if we can help further. Thanks so much for making the switch to reusable pods and thank you for choosing Pod Star. Happy Eco coffees. :)

Hi Jeneral! Thanks for asking this. Pod Star have zero single-use parts for operation. You will never need single-use filters or lids to use Pod Star coffee pods. Our product is truly zero waste. I hope that helps! Kirsten, Owner of Pod Star
