Get what you pay for – I fitted one of these to replace one on a Davy Pump that supplies tank water to our home. Firstly, I gave it 5 stars because it did work perfectly and secondly because it did last longer than a year. Therefore sellers claims were honoured. The downside, these items are made to not last the long haul, that is at least three years plus. This item lasted more than a year but not two. So , what have Protege done to make these fail? Simply, inside the cover there is a very heavy duty spring/diaphragm assembly that rests on 6 thin flutes and these flutes collapse which then causes housing to crack and diaphragm to go higher than it should and water then pours out. The problem is, is that if one were to go away for a few weeks one could come back and find tank empty, pump destroyed/burnt out by overworking. So we turn off water pump when going away or out for day. I intend to machine a new cover and have a flat surface for the diaphragm to sit on and hopefully unit may run for years. If it does then I will buy another and just replace cover.Cheap way for handy man is cut a piece of pipe to go over spring and be same height as flutes and put it in when buying another. I spoke to another supplier and it is their opinion that the weakness of the unit is so that manufacturer can make more money. What's new. See photo of inside cover,
