“Negative” Scanner is right absolutely Negative junk Exposure control the worst I have ever seen screen poor quality results this scanner is now over $200 And it is absolutely rubbish the power cable is ridiculously short what were they thinking when they produced this ? Negative scan results are about as clear as a muddy windscreen.
Terrible scanner – Photos get caught as they are being taken out. If they drop into the housing part, there is no way to get it out. This scanner is more trouble than it's worth. A total waste of money
Sucks big time. Don't waste your time and money – After reading reviews of this product, which seemed to suggest it was a decent tool, I found that its colour rendering was hopeless. Green grass (which WAS green in the slide) turned out a dark orange/brown. No amount of fine-tuning the R/G/B elements could achieve a half-credible result on the test slide embodying green grass, blue sky and… Read more
silver/red solid objects. Latest response from distributor is awaited but I'm not holding my breath.
The process to acquire an image is pedestrian and the control switch panel feels very flimsy. With about 3,000 slides to review, my hope was that it would hold up. Fortunately the retailer offers refunds so at least I won't be out of pocket.
Plus: Inbuilt screen (although the illumination is uneven), AV-video-out to TV etc is handy feature.
Bad points: Apart from above, having the ability to acquire by host PC would be very handy and avoid the clunky switch panel. Selections (e.g. negative/slide) are volatile - resets to negative each time powered off. With the clunky switching, it is easy to inadvertently kill the power and then require about ten switch-presses to get back to scanning a slide.
Does the job quite well – After scanning over 500 slides and a few negatives I am very happy with the quality. My slides were from 60's to 80's and some had slightly deteriorated, so quality of digital copy really depends on quality of slide. Over all I am very happy I have saved some memories. Very easy to use, you do not need a computer, Scans both 110 and 135 slides and… Read more
negatives, Difficult to use edit functions on scanner and not many options, screen too small, better to use a photo editing program on computer.
