Meta AI / Ray-Ban Meta – 1 star iPhone user in Sydney, and I just wanted to do the most basic thing: add my phone contacts so I can make calls with my AI glasses. There is no "Phone contacts" setting in the Meta AI app. At all. I asked Meta AI itself how to do it. It sent me in circles for half an hour – Profile > Settings > Phone contacts –… Read more
which doesn't exist. Then Messenger, then Instagram, then Accounts Center, then back to the start. Four different answers, none of them right for the actual Meta AI app.
When I finally got to a support answer, it confirmed what I already found: "there isn't a direct Phone contacts setting within the Meta AI app itself." Conversation Focus
Same story as the contacts mess. I just wanted to turn on Conversation Focus on my AI glasses and get a straight answer on where the setting lives. Asked Meta AI itself. Got sent round and round – Meta AI app > Glasses icon > Device settings > Audio, then back to Communication, then to the phone's accessibility settings, then back to the start. Four different paths, none of them actually showing a "Conversation Focus" toggle where it said it would be.
Meta AI cannot answer questions about its own Conversation Focus configuration. No clear on/off, no clear explanation, just circular help articles read back to you by the bot.
An AI assistant from Meta that can't even answer questions about its own configuration. If it can't tell you how to import contacts, what good is it?
Returning the glasses. Save your money.
For the price they are terrible, they continue to require a reboot, hard reboot, disconnection of glasses from phone, when you are near blind all this is impossible until someone can come and reboot them and then you lose all your stored information and have to redo it all again. Very upset as there is no contact number in Australia to rung just FAQ which do not answer the problem Show details
Required ongoing software updates to maintain some semblance of functionality. Eventually stopped working. Got the run-around from third-party tech support. Post-purchase customer service at RayBan and Meta is non-existent. You can't even pay to get it fixed, because this product is a lemon!
Interesting new widget!! This is a new pair of eye glasses with prescription lenses. I find this really useful as it means I no longer need another Bluetooth connected headphones so makes my work engagement simple. The tech so far works well and speakers work well for being on conference or phone calls. I do listen to music when I work and it… Read more
avoids use of an in ear or over ear headphones. Downside - not noise cancelling and speakers are not bone induction speakers.
The ability to take photos or videos are a plus and the use of commands is also quite appealing and I have used that a little bit but still need to learn more on more advanced use cases. Also need to investigate other application integrations.
Downsides so far - phone needs to be charged frequently and because I am on calls most of the day this can become a little inconvenient. You need to reconnect you Bluetooth connections when swapping between phone and laptop. It keeps the pairing but the swap from one device to another is not dynamic. Can be a little inconvenient when using applications like MS Teams and you take a call on the phone but have to fiddle a little to cut across and take the call on your laptop.

Now that I have had a few months of use of this product, I have reduced the rating from 4 to 3. The main reason for this is that not dynamically switching Bluetooth connectivity between devices is a real pain and is an improvement they must make. Secondly I constantly have people tell me that the quality of audio when on a call is really poor. I am hoping this improves in the next release of this product.

New update - I would say the audio on this widget is totally useless. If I am to pay over a thousand dollars for the next gen glasses it better work (highly unlikely to now make that leap) and therefore will recommend that its not worth the amount I paid
Bad Support and Shonky product – Initially good, but stopped working just 1 month after the warranty expired. There is no further support or repair service. The glasses had been used carefully and there is no physical damage, but speakers no longer work and cannot capture video any more, due to hardware fault. AVOID!!!!! Show details

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses - Video On The Go – The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are a very unique bit of tech. Snap an image or video on the go, riding, running, driving or just hanging about while listening to music and having your messages read out to you. All while keeping the sun out of your eyes and looking cool as a cucumber wearing Ray-Ban's. I've had mine for about a month now and they… Read more
have been amazing for documenting my work and play in video or photos. I use them for vlogging and YouTube quite a bit. Here in Australia though, we haven't even got the full feature set with Ai and assistant tech, but it's coming soon! And yet still they are amazing. I recommend getting some if you like to record action camera footage or listen to music while still hearing your surroundings out in the environment on the go.
