Redarc Battery Mismanagement System BMS1230S2 – One of these devices came with a very expensive camper trailer I have owned from new for the last 18 months. The trailer included 2 large deep-cycle batteries with a capacity of 240AH. Redarcs battery management system claims your batteries will never go flat again. Which would be nice if it were true. The manual claims it will recharge… Read more

deep-cycle batteries from 4V, also incorrect. With no low voltage arm or cutout and no logical recharging system, this device becomes a source of problems. Indeed it could become a life threatening problem. It is a major source if inconvenience and expense, when a system you are encouraged to trust, doesn't perform its basic functions. Adding to this, the leakage that causes batteries to flatten is from the device. While some leakage could be excused, it appears the leakage increases as the batteries deplete. Very sad that some Australian manufacturers like Redarc, are following an advertising before quality philosophy. I'm not just writing this to vent my frustration but to warn those who could be fooled to think this device could be relied upon in a remote location. Redarc products are not cheap so you expect a well engineered and quality of manufacture. Instead to get flashy advertising and claims that are misleading.

outstanding quality and service – I bought a BMS1230S2 when it hit the market, thanks to advice from Redarc support to wait for new the model as it would fit my needs better than the predecessor. Since then it has performed perfectly in some of the harshest environments you can find in Australia, keeping my Lithium bank healthy and managing the various inputs (240/12/Solar). After… Read more

a bit more than 3 years - outside of the warranty period - the controller display died while I was on a trip. To be honest, I was surprised that it lasted that long being mounted in a cab roof console enduring 40-60+degrees temperatures... Redarc came to the rescue without hesitation and shipped out a new controller express post before receiving my broken one for testing, just to make sure I can continue my trip with minimal disruption. How do I rate Redarc? 10/10 for quality, 10/10 for functionality and 10/10 for service. Worth every cent.

Solar charging is very poor – I have had this battery management system installed in my camper for a couple of years and was very happy with it until this week. I had a set of portable 120 watt solar panels that I thought were not very reliable so I replaced with a 300 watt fixed panel a couple of weeks ago. I found the old panels would stop charging if a bit of shadow went on… Read more

them and then would not start again when back in full sun. I put this down to the panels being faulty. If I unplugged the panels and then reconnected the charging would start again no problem.

I have now discovered that the problem still occurs with my new 300 watt fixed panel. I contacted Redarc and worked through some diagnostics with them but no luck. The end result, they are happy to sell me the new upgraded unit at a discounted price. This was a $1500 Battery management system and the best they can do is offer a new unit at a discounted price. Very poor effort Redarc, I once had a lot of trust in your products but can no longer recommended your gear.

The 12 volt and 240 volt functions of the charger work well, It's only the solar charging function that is not working correctly.
