Redarc and Outback Equipment refuse to do other than blame others wiring and give accusations of lying. Problem is that the unit (twice now)  does not stay in the blue proportional mode after calibration (twice) goes into green user control only,… Read more

brake signal and LED lighting and caravan confirms brake signal and lighting all works in the green manual mode, have tried with the cap on and also off many times to change modes with the return to zero brake on quick double tap and brake off, both with numbered cap on and not on, all still works in green/manual mode, but unit will not return to blue proportional mode

Follow-up  · Be very cautious of and redarc product as all made in China, and as per redarc own conditions and warranty conditions is that warranty ONLY available when installed by redarc authorized installers, see redarc own small print at clause 7 where warranty not valid is not using redarc authorized installer, my caravan was a Coramal, car was a late… Read more

Hard for people who are colour blind – Not really a complaint but people who are colour blind have a hard time trying to work out the red and green they don’t know the difference and whilst trying to adjust it makes it hard.

Works as it should – Very easy to use and install. The unit is small and modern with clear instructions. I have had it for 6 months now and would recommend to anyone. A little more expensive but worth the money.

POOR QUALITY – I have run an Auto Electrical business for 30 years. I have fitted many of these units and I think they are garbage. I only fit them when the owner requests the Tow Pro or an under dash unit is not able to be installed. The control unit does not have an appropriate mounting bracket to be installed inside a modern vehicles dash. The plastic nut… Read more

that holds the switch in the dash is always a concern when tightening. I do not recommend this unit to my customers. REDARC should spend money on improving the item and not on advertising an inferior product.

Fantastic product – This just works no mucking about , just drive like you normally would .. best on the market . Brakes are there when you need them, the automation of this unit is far superior to the older units floating around on the market.

Tow Pro Elite in a Range Rover Sport – This is a fantastic brake controller, and easy to install in the RR. Installed by a knowledgeable auto sparky for me. Wiring to the draw-bar is pre-installed in the RR so just to mount the dial and control unit and wire to an existing plug. Towing a Jayco Swan Outback and the controller is a dream to use. Just set it up at half output and then … Read more

tweak it until it brakes the van effectively at highway speed. Then it's a case of forget about it. The manual over-ride on steep or long downhills is simple and effective. Best controller on the market by a mile.

Amazing Technical Support for Tow Pro Elite – I installed one on July 27 2018. Its small, so not hard to find a place to mount it (behind the kick panel next to the accelerator on my 80 series Landcruiser) and the control dial/push button fitted in a blank on the dash. Fantastically easy to set and control that is until it stopped working late August 2018. So I rang the support line (in… Read more

Australia) and was led through a test sequence which established that it was the cable between the control dial and the unit. The support was fantastic. When I removed the cable I found corrosion on the at the box end. Water had got into box at the cable entry and destroyed the connections. But here's the best part. When I rang Redarc back to say I had found the problem and thanks for the support, the technician said to me "hang on we may be able to replace that under warranty". I was leaving on a trip in two days so Redarc arranged for me to pick up a replacement at a distributor before the day was finished. It simply doesn't get any better than that. I would rate Redarc 10 stars if it was possible.

Redarc Towpro Elite – Wow, I am impressed, installed the Redarc Australian made Towpro Elite and its simply fantastic. Installed In my Toyota Sahara, only issue I had was finding an appropriate spot for the controller. Suggest you get the insert blank for the switch as it identifies it as Electric Brakes. Works a dream and I dont have a unit under the dash to smash my… Read more

February 18th 2019 Update: Redarc Towpro Elite Electric Trailer Brake Controller Recalled.

I purchased a Redarc Towpro Elite in August 2018 and was really pleased to start off with. Then all the problems started. Worked fine for about 2500km but on the return trip from QLD it started turning the brakes ON whilst we were driving down the road, in about a 20km stretch it would partially turn on and off 50 times, sometimes quite hard. After a 100km and many stops trying all sorts of checks, e.g. Earth to battery, caravan, 7pin connection I called Redarc. I was told to make sure I had a really good connection with the 7pin plug. This worked for a small period of time. I started talking to other caravan owners on the way home and discovered others had faulty units that locked up the brakes completely and they couldn't use the electric brakes at all, had to disconnect them, a friend of mine Dave had to get a complete replacement after his first trip of 200km. Others talked about the same issue I had, the brakes simply turning on and off constantly whilst driving home and over heating the drums. I decided to pull my brakes off today 18 Feb 2019 and discovered both L & R were cracked, scored and dug out on the drums. I had been around Australian and done 30,000km using a Gardian, no problems. When I purchased my new Toyota Landcruised 200 series I decided to install the Redarc and within 5,000km completely stuff my brakes, have since removed the Redarc and gone back to Hayman Reece. I also found a Redarc Recall notice, all ELECTRIC TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER RECALLED - Tow Elite V2 from 1 September 2018 and 21 January 2019, nothing said about getting your money back. As indicated started off ok, then every thing went wrong, so frustrating, never after four four wheel drives and three cars have I every every had a problem. Strongly suggest you don't purchase the Redarc and if you have one, check on the recall dated 22 January 2019 web site, www.redarc.com.au/recall-notice.

Tow Pro makes Towing a Breeze – In Febrary the Tow pro was fitted to our Discovery. Our Coromal 635 lifestyle xc braked better over the 10,000 Ks of towing. You actually fell like braking is seemless. The blue light has you in Auto braking mode and red shows when the brakes are applied. No fiddling with the dials , fully automatic. Push the small button on the dash and the… Read more

trailer brakes are manually activated either on their own or extra to the brake pedal. There is an manual mode which is more like the old brake controllers, but I have no reason to use it. You don't even have to reset when you change caravans or trailers. In heavy braking areas, hills and steep decents, I turn the micro adjustment to a about 8 but normal driving for our 2.5tonne van about 4. We have travelled from Nsw to Jabiru via Oodnadatta. Make sure your fitter puts the correct wireing ,thicker than some, otherwise no warranty.
