Really good product with EXCELLENT backup, even after 4years – We are totally off grid in a rural location in SE Qld. We installed the red water diverter 4 years ago on our kitchen tap line which is fair way from our hot water tank. The overflow goes into a 200L white plastic drum then the garden. Using a white drum allows us to visually check its levels. Side note: when you install make sure you do so in a way that enables you to notice if this is happening. We have the divert receive drum in a place that is visible so if it is overflowing we notice and check. (In our case the constant sound of the water pump working is also a give-away.) Sometimes the divert receive drum overflows because we haven't used the water in it.

Twice now (in four years) it has continued to drip when the tap is off. Both times this has happened (last being this week) the back up from Andrew and Jackie (from Kenmore Qld) who supplied the unit has been faultless.

I rang and got the answering machine with a message that gave two mobiles to ring. I rang the mobiles and Andrew answered and attended to the matter immediately. The first time (2 years ago) he was driving and I think this time I suspect he had a mouthful of lunch. :^)

As we trouble shooted it he asked "How old is the unit?". "Four years" I said. Instead of the half expected "oh its getting on and you should expect this" or worse "Yeah... they don't last forever - I'll sell you a new one" his response was "It shouldn't be doing that. Check the diaphragm and if need be I'll send you a new one". He then asked me to keep him posted.

Following Andrew's instructions, I took the cover plate of the unit (simple job using multi grips or a 15mm bolt head with vice grips) gave a little clean and checked the diaphragm - which was slightly worn but serviceable - and reassembled. Problem fixed. I suspect the issue is that with the change in seasons it needs a mild adjustment. Anyways ..... the product is well worth it from our experience and the service/backup from Andrew and Jackie has been outstanding.

I'd happily recommend the product and the back up.

All houses on tank water should have one of these – I fitted the redwater diverter to my kitchen 2 years ago and have not had to look at it again. Easy to fit. Works perfectly every time. The hot water even arrives quicker now than it did without the diverter.

No more wasted water! – I built my house in 2013, and was looking for ways to reduce water and power use. I came across these Redwater water diverter valves, and also checked out the hot charged water line systems but found them too complex. I've always been concerned about the amount of water wasted going down the drain every time a hot water tap is turned on, especially when you have rainwater tanks and an onsite wastewater disposal system instead of a town sewer connection. This simple mechanical device diverts that water back to either your rainwater tank or onto your garden etc instead of sending it down the drain!

I had my plumber install Redwater diverters in the bathroom and kitchen on the hot water lines, and the diverted cold water is directed back to my rainwater tanks and you know what? They work just as advertised. What I like about them is their simplicity, no power is required, just a return line, they simply have a heat sensing valve that opens when it detects hot water to direct the water to the tap, and they are adjustable to your household water pressure. The default position directs the cold water to your tank or wherever you want it to go...

Can't work out why these devices aren't a recommended fitting by water authorities or Councils, or are accredited under the BASIX scheme in NSW. In case you want to know, I have a Rinnai LPG instantaneous 'on demand' hot water heater.
