Russell Hobbs Satin Salt and Pepper Mill Set Questions & Answers
VerifiedThe lid on top is jammed stuck. I somehow got the arrow above the black area, not above the lock, unlock. How can I get it off again ?
Hi, my light is not working on the salt grinder. Any help?
I bought this salt and pepper grinder and another set for my son, within a month both Pepper Grinders had fallen apart, a common fault reported on line, the plastic disk above the reservoir just failed and fell out, Russell Hobbs must be aware of this, why haven’t they modified the design
My salt container has no light uliminating when pushed
I have just received the salt and pepper mills and there are two clear plastic caps included which I assumed were supposed to clip onto the bottom of the mill. For the life of me I cannot figure out how they do. Sorry if this is a dumb question but any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hello Sandie, the clear plastic is just a base to sit the mill on to catch anything that may fall out or to avoid mess like a crumb tray in a toaster. They do not attach.
On my second set and have the same problem, I can't align the top to the bottom after refilling with salt or pepper, at the moment they ar stuck together with sellotape
My Salt mill isn’t grinding up the salt and just letting big chunks fall through. Any suggestions?
I think there is an adjustment on the bottom but not sure , mine are working OK at present but for how long ?? they came so close to the rubbish bin
Switch not working. Tested with multimeter and problem in switch. Seems small circular section of copper is pushed down and provides connection between two strips of copper. Both strips ok but posting button onto them does nothing.
I had the same issue last month in one of them whre the salt was used. Due to salt humidity build up on the switch causing white and green stuff cover the connection area. I have opened it and cleaned it. Its working now.
Thanks. Will have another go.
Can’t lock after refilling with pepper corns Won’t go on open padlock Only locked one but can’t twist it ? Cheers Les
Mucked around with them Think I have fixed problems See next time I refill them Cheers Les
Swapped grinders to other bace Clicked on So put them side beside each other and saw top was 1/8th of a inch higher So pushed insert in and fixed the problem Cheers Les
The grinders on my salt “grinds”but nothing happens. It’s not the normal grinding sound- lights go on etc. Could the grinders have worn out? They are approximately 18months old. 2 person household . I have checked for obstruction etc but the problem persists.
Maybe try cleaning the grinder and dry in the sun, there could be moisture in stuck on the blade. Once dry try putting new salt in. Hopefully it will work otherwise check the product warranty for replacement. Thanks
How do I open bottom to add peppercorn?
What do I do when my grinder suddenly stops working? It already had new batteries, now it has even newer batteries. It’s totally dead. No light, no sound, nothing! Bin?
can batteries be replaced if so how thanks
You need to unscrew the barrel and then replace the four AA batteries - that's the relatively easy part. This is just not a good product.
We actually love the product and use it everyday. My only gripe was the amount of batteries we needed to use, but assume they'll last quite a while.
Got stuck the battery lid how can I remove please help me Thx

Hi. I've only had this set since xmas, and the pepper grinder won't work. Have replaced the batteries but nothing. The shop won't exchange as I don't have receipt anymore. Anything you can do to help
How can I seperate the top from the bottom. It just twists around and won’t release Model RHP K3000
if you look on the clear acrylic there is instructions showing two padlocks, one open and one closed. just above on the stainless is a black arrow show where to rotate the top half to on the acrylic. So to put salt or pepper into the units, grip the acrylic part firm and rotate the top stainless half to the left /clock wise only 15mm and it will unlock and come apart. Do not grip the bottom half stainless as all you do is adjust the grinding size. With the salt ensure you put rice in to absorb the moisture. Good luck with them as the RHPK4000 was absolute junk, Using up batteries and seizing up. Hobbs were good and replaced 3 times but would not refund so they are going in the rubbish bin. Regards John
The instructions have worn off . I followed other suggestion and took the whole thing apart . Checked to see if any wires were broken . None were so put it back together. Now it doesn’t operate at all. Think I’d better ditch it . Thanks for trying
I would lije some instructions

Why does my salt grinder not work 2 mth old?
there are two small gold pins on the inside of the mill that move in and out each time you remove the bottom to refill the grinder ,, The internal wires connected to the other side of the pins can break off , if it suddenly stops working this is most likely the cause ,
To Fix
separate the battery compartment ( top ) inside are two small screws remove them and the internal parts will separate exposing the wires ,here you can re-solder the wire and reassemble .
total repair time takes approximately 10 min
I've managed to open the battery compartment but can't open the bottom where the salt /pepper goes. It wont budge to the unlock sign, any ideas?
Hi Kathy, I still have the set in my scrap metal collection which hasn't gone to the dump yet so have been able to find them and remind myself of how they connect. Holding one of the mills upright, one hand on the top part and the other on the bottom section, give the top a slight clockwise twist (only a small fraction of a turn) and then pull upwards on the top section and it should separate from the base.
Best of luck,
James.
We cant figure out how to put the rock salt in without taking the salt grinder apart. Help
Hi, it's a bit tricky at first, but once you've done it it's easy. You simply twist the metal top anticlockwise until the black arrow is alignened with the open padlock symbol. Then lift the metal top right off until you see the black unit that holds the batteries. That black part just lifts straight out, exposing the hole where you fill it with the rock salt. It's the same for the pepper one. Hope it helps.
