Rubbish – I've been using this every six months or so until I realised - it's rubbish. It won't hold a blade in without it slipping; it won't cut straight - the whole unit needs to be turned dramatically to the right; and it won't go neatly around corners. The problem is the weak ase chuck. A dud. Finally going to bite the bullet and buy a new one this arv.

I Love The Convenience Of Cordless – I already have a few Ryobi 18 Volt tools and batteries, so when my old 240 Volt jigsaw died (I left it out in the rain), this was a no-brainer to buy. This is the 'entry level' version, there is the 'HP' range now which is brushless and has more speed and power (and is $100 more), but this one is absolutely fine for home handyman work. Maybe a… Read more

tradie would need the next step up.

One thing that does bother me with it is that it is meant to be variable speed, but I've never been able to make that work - it's either off or flat out. Maybe that's my fat fingers? Also, to cut straight I've found that I have to point it slightly to the right. Not sure what's going on with that.

I do love the quick change blade connecter, and the fact that you can use the a generic blade instead of a Ryobi specific blade is great. Any adjustment of the angle of the base still requires an allen key though.

Overall, an easy 5 stars product.

Wish I'd bought one ages ago – Great machine....especially being cordless... so much better than corded. Nice cut and so easy to use. Love the quick installation and removal of the jigsaw blades. $129 - I already had batteries. Love It.

Needs a plastic base ove the steel so you dont scratch the laminate – It needs a plastic skin over the steel base. Otherwise when you cut laminated boards and tops ti can scratch the face side of the product that you are cutting . It work s better than most battery operated jigsaws and this would fix a major problem with the product.

Ryobi 18V R18JS-0 Jigsaw, It's so good I had to write a review – I used this saw almost every day for the last 6 months cutting 3mm, 6mm, 12mm plywood, hardwood kitchen bench top, 1.6mm steel sheet, 3mm aluminium sheet etc and it did a great job. Being cordless, it made the job a bit pleasant as I don't have to play around with the extension lead. Generally it performed the same or better than my corded jigsaw.… Read more

Out of the box it's a little heavier than I expected, felt solid to hold, doesn't feel like it's a fragile tool, everything looks nice and solid.

I don't use the saw blades included, they didn't look that great. For wood I use Diablo 'ultra clean cut' blades, these blades deserve a great review. For everything else I use Bosch bi-metal metal blades. I interchange between 2 5.0ah batteries for some serious intense cutting.

The work light is bright enough for late evening work.

The front dust blower could be a bit stronger as the saw dust tends to build up during long cuts.

The quick blade change attaches and release is great.

Orbital cut feature does really work, it increase the cutting speed around 50 to 70%. Don't use orbital if you want a nice upper and under cut on plywood. Set orbital to zero.

The blade saver feature sounds nice but it didn't impress me, I found out that I don't have enough strokes on short blades as I have to lift the saw higher. Also on long enough blades like the Diablo, the blade vibrates and swings too much for a nice clean cut especially at the beginning when I try to accurately engage the cut.

I found myself cutting so nice and straight (technique) that I hardly use the circular saw for long straight cuts. The circular saw tends to create surface splitting on plywood.
