Lightweight, suit small/courtyard garden. I got this 'for my wife' a few years back, but after recent ill-health, this is all I can manage. (The 30-year-old shaft-drive Stihl 'Still Going' too heavy for now, much more powerful.) The original 'blue string (1.6mm?)' doesn't last well for harder work; the green 2mm string seems to be a better deal. It works, and uses the standard 18V batteries, if one is building up 'a Ryobi collection'. The string comes out one side only; for heavier work one should look at a different tool. Tip: the 2mm string comes in 3X 3.3m lengths in prepacked canisters at $28; Ryobi string by itself is $12 for 15m, and a Saxon round line is $5.50 for 15m. That works out at $2.80/m, $0.80/m, and $0.37/m respectively. A bit of DIY saves $$.

Don't buy Ryobi – The battery failed to hold a charge after a year. Replaced battery and the line trimmer has now died. Ryobi deleted my toolbag and everything is missing except replacement battery and a blower vac. Had 5 products and nearly all gone now. Told that I deleted them? WTH. Jeff

Ryobi helps make gardening easier – I purchased my first Ryobi Line Trimmer way back in 2013, put to rest 2023. Never had an issue, but towards the end of its life the tangling line would constantly become more and more of a problem. However, who would complain? I had used this very needed gardening tool for 10 years, so I believe I got my monies worth. Husband was ecstatic in getting a new toy, plus another battery and charge pack which matched all of the amazing RYOBI + 1 tools. For general house gardening and maintenance Ryobi does not disappoint.

After purchasing the newer model @ $208 from Bunnings, again the trimmer was great. I have used it a little over 2 months now and again very impressed. The auto feed head, breeze and the 3 adjustable head positions means the trimmer conforms to what your height and comfortability is with a few adjustments. The trimmer will work for around 42 minutes, more than enough for the average garden. The longevity of Ryobi + One range is amazing.
