Ryobi RLT1038 Questions & Answers
VerifiedCan you fit an Edger Attachment to the RLT1038X?
Rang bunnings today and was told you couldnt replace head on ryobi rlt 1038 electric line trimmer with the pro cut head am i talking to a salesman who doesn't know what hes talking about can someone please clarify brad
Have had friends who has advised changing the head of trimmer too but I haven't been able to get a straight answer either. One friend claims there are alternatives on EBay but I haven't researched yet.
Hi Scarecrow Ask another guy at Bunnings to help you, I am using a 1038 with a pro cut, it works fine. Tip buy ready cut cords to match they seem to work better than cutting a reel of 2.7 cord and cutting it. Ready cuts seem to be much stronger.

Bill
Hi I need to know how to replace the trim as it has run out? as you have said the instructions are useless as they are just drawings. It looks to me like you just place the thread in the holes and not through the holes as I thought you would do and then just wind it around and thenm thread through either side and lock in. Am I correct or should it be done another way? Any information will be good
Hi Lynne I have not done it on this one yet but that sounds correct. Just make sure the cord is running freely before you screw it back on. On my old 550 watt I never had any bother. Just a tip you will see in other reviews they talk of a pro cut head for about 32 bucks at Bunning's. I had a look at one yesterday and it looked like a really good idea. No winding on of cord just fit pre cut lengths. I am going to try with the standard head for a little while and see how it goes otherwise I may spend the 32 bucks because, in my experience, replacing the cord on any brand of whipper snipper is a pain. I think the upgraded head will make these really great machines.
Thank you for your info I might try that. Regards
Hi Lynne
