I purchased S&W whole egg mayo for the second time as I usually use hellmans. The first jar was very nice, but the second jar tasted disgusting with an overwhelming oily taste that spoilt my potato salad, and I had to throw it out. After this experience I will never purchased this mayo again! Show details
S&W what have you done to our favorite mayonnaise.? yes i have to agree with others on product review. i don't like the new creamy texture, old one used to hold up better and taste is just not what i been used to last 30years.. how can a company do this and get it soo WRONG!! please change it back to old ways and glass jar. I can’t even give this mayonnaise 1 star . What have you done to the original recipe? We have been using this mayonnaise for over 50 years and since you have changed to Australian production and in a plastic jar the taste just gets worse every time a buy a jar and now it’s consistency is not thick but rather runny like a praise mayonnaise and not… Read more
using the original recipe, so many more added ingredients WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE Recipe. NO Longer Buying This Product
This used to be my favourite mayo for everything, one day the flavour of it changed and now it's disgusting! If i could give this mayo 0 stars I would. Show details
Awful – Well, after using this product for many years, I shall be looking for a replacment. How can a company get it so terribly wrong. S& W used to be the best mayo out, now it mixes well with the lowest of the low. Poor, quality and an awful taste.
Ruined christmas lunch – Thanks for ruining my christmas lunch. I could tell it wasnt right as soon as it came out of the jar. My late mums potato salad receipe ruined. Show details
Disappointed – I was disappointed when you changed to plastic jars and there appears to be a slightly strange film on the top of the mayonnaise when I open it. I did scrape it off and then used some of the mayonnaise and I did not get ill but I couldn’t bring myself to keep buying it. Common sense tells me it may not be safe to eat. I prefer glass anyway so I’m afraid I’m a lost customer. Anyway that’s my bit of feedback.Kind Regards Janet White. Show details
Make your own, it's easy – It appears S&W don't care about their customers. Someone's massive over inflated ego makes them think this rubbish is acceptable, the customers are showing otherwise. Anyway, thank you S&W, I purchased a stick blender and now make my own mayonaise. 1egg, 2tsp of Dijon, 1 cup peanut oil, 1tdp lemon juice, 1tsp apple cider vinegar. Wiz it all together, and you've got Mayo as good as S&W WAS. Give it a go folks, it's do easy.
Inedible – When the Hellmann's mayo I normally buy was out of stock a few months ago, I bought S&W instead. I was sure I'd used it in the past, but when I tasted it it almost went straight into the bin. It was the worst mayonnaise I've ever tasted, and I couldn't get rid of the taste. I hate wasting food, especially when so many people are finding it hard to… Read more
put any food on the table at all, so I delayed disposing of it and decided last night to try it in a marinade I sometimes make, hoping that the taste would be masked by the other ingredients. It wasn't: the marinade tasted vile, once again I couldn't get rid of the taste of the mayo for hours, and it ruined the chicken I cooked for dinner. It's now destined for the bin, a waste of both food and money.
Grossed Out!!! – Wish I can give zero stars!!! A pubic hair at the bottom of the plastic bottle!!! Bottle is still sealed. Show details
Tastes like flour – Do yourself and everyone else a favour and buy Hellmann’s. Show details
Taste is just like any other cheap mayo in plastic packaging – Always a family fave, but we won't be buying again unless they go back to the original recipe & glass jar. All it is now is an overpriced fake plastic tasting mayo like all the rest. We now buy 1LT Kewpie or similar from local asian grocer. I can make my own, but now it's just two of us, a tasty store bought is ok. Show details
Why destroy a once GREAT PRODUCT! – Unbelievably BAD turnaound on this once fantastic staple. This group of reviews is the most ACCURATE I've ever read. I hoped this was a bad batch, but every review echoes my experience. How could this company produce something so radically BAD compared to what it used to produce! Please, PLEASE use the old recipe, or I will be going to a different company...or making my own mayo. Show details

The End of a Food Era. So angry and sad – I wish I'd read these reviews before purchasing. Everything written here is correct. The new recipe is a joke. It's disgusting and the plastic bottle is oh so bad. I have eaten S&W my whole life and I can't believe the last bottle I'll buy in over 40 years will be of this terribly textured, revolting recipe. The end of a food era.
Smells like cockroaches – Been a while since I’ve had any mayo but decided to treat myself only to find my favourite has changed. I think Hellmans will be the go from now and hopefully they don’t end up changing to something that smells like cockroaches… Show details
- +1
New flavour and ingredients are a massive downgrade. Bring back the original recipe please! – I wish I could give a different opinion but unfortunately my sentiments passionately echo every other commenter on here. S&W Mayonnaise was once the best grocery store mayonnaise in Australia (up until about 3 months ago). It was great for salads, sandwiches, fries, schnitzels, everything. I instantly noticed a few things with my last two… Read more
purchases. The product was a lot runnier and gloopier, slightly yellower and more translucent looking than normal inside the jar! I thought maybe it was just a slightly odd batch but then I purchased another one and same thing. It also happened to coincide with the change from the iconic and traditional glass bottles (which were great for reusing/storage!) to this senseless plastic jar. Unbelievable, when the whole world is moving away from the use of plastics some ‘genius’ and/or greedy finance administrator has decided to go backwards. I thought maybe I was imagining things or maybe the container has slightly altered its shelf life.. But no. I was wrong. I came across an old glass jar and noticed a few major differences. The label used to say “REAL Whole Egg Mayonnaise”. Now the the label claims it’s “All Natural” (whatever that means ?). And the ingredients listing used to read 9% whole egg (the highest on the Australian market) and now it says 4.5% whole egg. It’s now also higher in saturated fats and fats in general, higher in sodium, higher in carbs and higher in calories yet it’s lower in protein! The consistency is far too runny and looks like the oil is separating from the cream and the texture is almost powdery in parts, basically on par with a trashy cheap creamy squeeze bottle Mayo dressing. A far cry form its classic whipped, creamy, rich, thick velvety fullness which my family and I have enjoyed for over 30 years. And the flavour tastes watered down, much less tangy and savoury than it used to be and even has a weird slightly off egg wash smell and taste to it that they’ve tried to mask by adding more salt and sugar. It’s honestly terrible. Please listen to the people if you want your business to survive. And please reconsider the employment of everyone involved in this change, it’s a horrific move. Read these reviews to them. Are times really that tough that you have to downgrade your product to these depths and thought no one would notice or care? I’d happily pay a little extra to keep the product and company afloat, just give us our money’s worth and return to your original quality recipe. Listen to the consumer. Respect your loyal customers. I’m so sad and disappointed as I will not be buying this brand again until you revert to the old formula. And if the flood of comments on here and other product review platforms are anything to go by, as well as the outrage online, most people will be doing the same. So I fear this is the beginning of the end for our beloved S&W Mayo, an Aussie fridge staple.
Hopeless new S&W mayonnaise – Difficult not to be aggressive when the new S&W mayo is such rubbish. I wouldn’t even give it one star but was required to in order to submit this review. It’s not even blended properly and has terrible texture. Like your other reviewers we have been buying this product for more than 20 years but no more. When you change back to the old recipe let us know (big advertising campaign please) and we will be back Tony Show details
New SW Mayonaise recipe is garbage! – New recipe is garbage! SW has been our family Mayo since I was born. Needs to be made in its original recipe, it was perfect the way it was. Show details
S&W Whole Egg Mayonnaise plastic jar – The same disappointment as all the other reviewers :( We'll be looking for an alternative mayo! Show details
Why change the recipe on the best mayonnaise there was? – The mayonnaise has changed ingredients. Tastes awful. The jar is no longer glass. I've been using thisproduct for 15 years and am very disappointed Show details
New recipe in a plastic container, how to kill a brand – What genius thought these changes were a good idea. I have eaten S&W mayonnaise for over 60 years and the new recipe is awful and to add insult to injury move away from glass jars to some form of plastic just as the world is waking up to the fact that storing food in plastic is very questionable. Bad move guys, you have lost me as a customer! November 2023 Show details
Awful – I have used this mayo for over 20 years. The new recipe has changed the taste and made what was a product leader one which I won’t use again. Show details

S&W Ingredients – S&W have changed their recipe. Any glass jars are the old recipe, plastic jars are new recipe. The new recipe is disgusting. The taste and texture are not the same. New stuff is foul. Show details
New recipe is bad – The mayonnaise has changed ingredients and is now not good I am a caterer and h e been using this product for 20 years very disappointed Show details
New recipe disappointing – This Mayonnaise has been one of my staples for years - i loved it! Just bought the new recipe (coming in the plastic jar) and am really disappointed. Won't be buying it again, and have 880g to give away. Can't you go back to the original recipe, please? Show details
I wouldn't eat it of you paid me! – I used to eat S&W Mayo all the time until I picked up a new jar from the supermarket and noticed the plastic jar. The taste is revolting. It is so sad that the product has changed so much. Bring back your old recipie and glass jar. Would not buy this again. Show details
Why did they change the recipe?? – Have been purchasing and enjoying this mayo most of my life… it was my families favourite. They now package it in Plastic instead of glass and the taste is completely different and not as thick. Some things you should not mess with and this was one of them! Show details
Unacceptable product change – I am a heavy user of S&W Whole Egg Mayonnaise. I purchased product last week and noticed that the packaging had changed from Glass to Plastic. I also noticed that the product has changed as well, less viscous, flavour completely different, more lemony. Does Manassen Foods not care about consumers by making these changes, unacceptable. Diabolical Levels of Inflammation Producing Soybean Oil and Corn Syrup - Aches Everywhere, Loveless Condiment – Gluten free! Wonderful! Preservative free! Yes please! I went against my better judgement and skipped checking the ingredients in this mayonnaise. Then I went to open it and saw the first ingredient was soybean oil. It also has corn syrup in it. Soybean oil is extraordinarily inflammatory. In 2020, University of California reported, "New UC… Read more
Riverside research shows soybean oil not only leads to obesity and diabetes, but could also affect neurological conditions like autism, Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, and depression." ..
"The team determined a number of genes in mice fed soybean oil were not functioning correctly. One such gene produces the "love" hormone, oxytocin. In soybean oil-fed mice, levels of oxytocin in the hypothalamus went down." [1]
Within forty minutes of eating this product, I have eye aches, headaches, finger aches, neck pain and leg aches, my heart is racing. I only ache like this when I eat several days of junk food. Something I do maybe once a year. I first noticed this when eating McDonalds ketchup sachets, that also contain soybean oil and corn syrup.
Current Ingredients: soybean oil, whole egg (9%), corn syrup, water, vinegar, salt, lemon juice concentrate, white mustard (distilled vinegar, water, mustard seed, salt, spices) rosemary extract, paprika
S&W Whole Egg Mayo is not food. It shouldn't be sold as food. If the manufacturers have any conscience, they will change the oil they use and stop producing something that is so incredibly bad for people's health.
The only place this product is going is into the bin. Waste of money.
