Salmon Elixir Activ Mid Gore-Tex Men's Hiking Shoes

I have many Salomon boots and they are universally excellent... except... for these Elixir Mid boots. Firstly, they are comfortable and don't hurt my ankles. The Contagrip sole is pretty good on most surfaces, but they slip on mossy rocks. Maybe, I'm expecting too much from the hard lugs. The biggest disappointment is the boot's poor water proofing. They are Goretex protected, but my socks get damp in medium downpours hiking over wet rocks 'n' puddles. maybe, I'm expecting too much from Goretex. If they were waterproof, they would be 5 star.
