SCA battery charger model HF0215DVD, will not charge up my deep cycle VRLA AGM battery past the 4th stage of 7 stages. Any suggestions why?

It is most likely because this charger is a low quality piece of junk.

What is the purpose of the charging status display? I bought the 10a seven stage charger and I have charged three batteries to FUL. The 100% charged light was on and there was no error light for all three. During and on completion, the charging status display did not show all green on any charges. Just the two top bars are green, the two middle are yellow and the bottom two are red. What is the purpose of the charging status display?

I would assume, instead of a numerical percentage, they've chosen to do 6 bar charge status from bottom up. Red = very low Yellow = half way full Green = fully charged. Each block would indicate just over 16%

So if you only see 2 red ,1 yellow = approx 50% charged.

The instruction manual states that the battery can be removed by undoing the hex screws after undoing the cover. Mine alarmed every 25 seconds after being used and after power outages..f.rom beingat less than under 60 % recharge. The battery can be replaced but the new jump starters are much smaller and more portable. I would say to have the lead battery removed and give to local hazardous waste recycler and buy a new smaller one.

Have a 900 amp scan jump starter , it's turned off but keeps beeping and it doesn't stay charged for long

How old is it? Like any car battery, perhaps the units battery has gone bad? I've had the 1200amp one for 8yrs.. It still works but I do find the battery doesn't hold charge as well. (Jumped a 6.4L Hemi with a completely dead battery)

Have it's battery tested.

I bought the 10 amp 7 stage model 7 weeks ago topped up my 12volt deep cycle battery OK but today (20/ 12) went to charge my sons car ...... nothing, no power nothing, took it back to my Super Cheap Dealer who confirmed unit was not working, they replaced it with a new charger. Went to the son place hooked up the new charger started working right away, had a coffee checked the battery only to find all lights on the charger are off, exactly the same as the previous one. Question , is this a design floor or is it a bad batch of chargers. Not Happy. Cefyn

Hi. To be honest I can't say if it's a bad batch or not. But given you experienced this with 2 chargers as well as my experience with sca chargers, I'd say it's a bad product. Add to that after my experience with these chargers, I'll never buy a sca charger again. I purchased another brand from another store and I'm more than happy with it.

I have had exactly the same problem with this charger. Put it on 100AH battery overnight seemed to be working fine then next morning completely dead. Exchanged it at Super Cheap and then the new unit did exactly the same thing. There is something fundamentally wrong with this charger and they simply shouldn't be selling it, especially at $182. Going back tomorrow to try and get my money back.

Car has been sitting for around six weeks and was too low to start. This morning I attempted to open the car to allow me to connect the charger, but the remote wouldn't operate the central locking. Opened the car manually and connected the charger. Charger commenced beeping and issued the "battery error" alert. What does that mean and what should I do?

Hi Paul, it could mean a few things but, if the battery isn't faulty then most likely it's due to the battery being completely flat and that charger doesn't charge a completely dead battery, (You can purchase chargers that will charge from zero charge) hence the beeping and error, I'd suggest you to jump start the car let it run for 15min than, turn it off, attempt to recharge fully.

Hi Paul, didn’t see this come in, all cars have a slight drain on the electrical system when sitting idle. You can get a small solar trickle charger that you can leave connected to the battery just to off set the slight drain. If the battery is old it would probably pay to have it load tested once its charged, (the battery is heavily loaded to see the condition of the cells inside)it will give you an idea of the overall condition. Nomi was spot on with jump start, the sca charger only charges if the battery is low not dead, it is also suppose to detect a problem with the battery (which it will beep and /or say error). If it does that after the battery has some charge i would go and get it load tested for peace of mind. Hope this helps
