Selleys Water Shield

Water repellent and waterproof are two terms used to describe the ability of a material to resist the penetration of water. However, there is a subtle difference between the two. Water repellent refers to a material that has been treated with a coating or finish to make it resistant to water, causing water to bead up and roll off the surface. This means that while it can withstand light rain or moisture, it may eventually allow water to seep through under prolonged exposure or heavy rainfall.
On the other hand, waterproof refers to a material that is completely impervious to water, creating a barrier that prevents any water from passing through. This makes it suitable for activities or environments where complete protection from water is required, such as in rain jackets or diving suits.
This product is a water REPELLENT, not suitable for water PROOFING rainwear.
Utter waste of money – I bought this product from Bunnings for approximately $20 and may as well have taken that money and burned it. Both my money and time applying it were wasted. I followed the instructions to re-waterproof an old rain jacket and assumed it would work. I am now soaked to the skin after a 5 minute walk into work, having worn that same jacket in the rain. This product did NOTHING it claimed to and I am furious. Avoid Selleys products at all costs.
