My 2014 Superb Outdoor came with 225/40r18 wheels and tyres. The ride on Australian coarse chip roads was extremely loud and harsh.
Do yourself a favour and change to 17” wheels and 225/50 tyres. This is the same as the VW Passat. The whole driving experience is far far better. Quieter, smoother and very little give away in handling. It even makes the Speedo read exactly according my gps.
Otherwise the Superb is an excellent place to be

Skoda are a hidden gem
Skoda Superb 206 TSI Sportline 4X4. Absolutely amazing car which is highly underrated. 0-100 in less then 6 seconds, it really packs a punch. Incredibly reliable, 2018 model, hit 66,666km today, and not a single problem. DSG is faultless. Heated front and rear seats are great for cold winters mornings and really help if you have a bad back. It’s a joy to drive, massive boot and limo like space in the back, it really should be considered if you’re looking for a sporty wagon that’s still practical. It always gets comments from people and it’s su...rprising how many people haven’t heard much of Skoda or they thought it was a “cheap” Volkswagen, but it’s definitely not! Only negative (being very picky) is it generates plenty of brake dust so wheels don’t stay clean for too long after a wash, but being a car detailer I think this Would annoy me more Then most other people.

Great car - except for the cost of spares
I have a Superb 2 TDi 125. Great car for long distance and have taken it all over the North island, The only caveat is the price of spares. The right headlight failed and a replacement from Gazley cost $3000.

I have had this car for 7 years now. Purchased new, used daily coming up to 185000 km. It always runs great with excellent fuel economy. Comfortable to drive, reliable and lots of great features. Will definitely buy another one when I am ready for a new car in a few more years!!

Not like skodas of old
Bought this car from new 2 years ago and up till now its been a good work horse as its an auto estate version there is plenty of room in the back ample leg and head room for all passengers good coice of engines mine is a 20 ltr turbo diesel and its got ample power good breakes rides nice gear change is smooth up till now i havent had to buy parts but looking at the basics brakes suspension ect there not very expensive mpg i average in the mid 40s on a longer run i have achived 55 mpg which i think for such a big car is very good only down side ...is the interior seats are ok but as its vw based its very bland same as bmw,s and audi realy mercedes make a better interior than all german cars but its functional and every thing is screwed together properley its not made of cheal plastic like french or japanese cars i used to own an old skoda with the engine in the back that was a bad car lol but todays versions are a class act and i wouldent hesitate to buy another

Excellent car with one flaw (depending on where you are coming from)
If you like Volkswagen Passats, then Skoda Superb is a smarter choice. The same parts, same chassis with a different badge, some cleaver design for much less money. This means you can kit out the Superb to a much higher level for the same money as a Passat.
If I had one complaint it would be NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness). While its no worse than the Passat, it seems that WV has been skimping on noise-control in the cabins lately (meaning dampening of the sheet metal, foam, padding, thinner glass etc where it can soak up road noise on coarse ...chip Australian roads). More road noise and vibration than you would expect (even with DCC). I think this has to do with weight reduction initiatives to improve fuel economy. NVH is made worse by the rush by manufacturers to fit 18-19" tyres on these things. They really should stick with 16-17" for Australian roads. All this is relative of course, depending on what you have been driving and expectations. I recently hired a 2019 Holden Commodore with the same tyres 235/45R18 and it was significantly worse than the Superb for NVH on coarse chip roads. However, as a daily drive, I came from an older generation Passat, that was simply a league above the modern counterparts in terms of NVH. The TLDR here, is don't expect European luxury car levels of NVH here. On the other hand, ride comfort and chassis control on the Superb is definitely a significant step up. DCC is awesome. Anyhow, make no mistake, I am nit-picking here, it's a great car. Just when everything else is almost perfect you start looking at details more closely. Definitely worth putting on your short list for a test-drive one to see if it's for you. If you do, make sure to drive it on some coarse-chip roads at 110 km/hr.

I’m very disappointed with the quality of my Skoda Superb. My car has been recalled and the mechatronic unit replaced, however my car failed again due to the mechatronic unit. It was a very scary experience, as my car’s mechatronic unit failed causing my car to suddenly stop while I was still on drive. My sister-in-law also had a similar experience with her car. Her Skoda Octavia also had problems with the car suddenly stopping due to the mechatronics. Her vehicle required the mechatronic unit to be replaced not once, but twice in the space of a year, once under recall, then again a year after. I am not sure what’s going on, I am not impressed with the quality of my vehicle and I feel very upset and disappointed with my experience.

Superb wagon a joy!
Just purchased 2018 Superb wagon 162 version.
An absolute dream to drive! Bumped into a woman at the kids soccer. She was driving a Kodiaq. They have 4 late model Skoda's in there family. 2 in immediate family and an uncle and grandfather! They won't buy any other make of car! Now i know why! Skoda need to spend more on promotion in Oz. People just dont know how good they are!

10/October/2018 - In August 2018 I bought my mother's Skoda Superb 2015 that had only 6800km in the odometer. The car had spent most of the time parked in the garage.
On 1st of October I pulled the handbrake and it did not work. I took the car to Eastside Skoda at Melbourne which assessed the car and promised to come back to me.
On the 9th of October Skoda responded the bolt that was missing in the handbrake could not be replaced and the whole system would need to be replaced. The parts would arrive on the 17th of October. When asked abou...t the warranty I got the following response: "The handbrake bolt is not something that works itself loose over time; and it is an item checked at each service. Warranty has stated that the only way this could have happened, especially so far into the ownership of the vehicle, is an incorrect adjustment of the handbrake at a previous service causing the bolt to fall off and go missing. This would mean external influence is the cause of this concern, and that it is not a warrantable manufacturing defect." Clearly Skoda assumed my mother had taken the car to be serviced at a non-authorised service centre. I replied to Skoda saying that the car had only been serviced at Lennock Skoda Canberra and requested them to confirm it. Skoda confirmed the last and only service done in the car happened on February 2018 at Lennock Skoda. So the second response to suggest it was not going to be covered by the warranty:
Loads of boot space
We bought this as out family car as we go on loads of camping trips and needed extra room in the boot to stash all the camp gear and tents. It holds a lot more than that even when mostly full and has been fantastic on kind road drips with the kids
Why buy an SUV, this is so much better!
Purchased this in August 2016 after owning 4 different SUV. I transport machines in my car and need a decent boot size. The Superb has the largest boot in its class and more rear leg room than any SUV. The Diesel engine is powerful, very frugal and the car is an overall joy to drive. I have had no issues with the car and have covered over 60,000km in just under 2 years. Don't get sucked into all the negative reviews about the VW Group. They are just the journalists favourite target. The cars are overall really good and the Skoda brand is underrated in AUS. They win every comparison in Europe! Test drive one and you will be pleasantly surprised
I have a 2015 Tsi 118 Elegance Station Wagon and rate the car highly. This was a run out deal just before the release of the new model and was kitted out with all the bells and whistles - self parking, reversing camera,Kelsey system etc, etc including flash 225x40/R18 wheels shod with Continental SportContact2 tyres. Oh dear- not good! The low profile tyres accentuate every bump and pothole and while dry weather handling was excellent and motorway driving was good the positives were far out weighed by the negatives of the harsh "real road" exp...erience. To add insult to injury the Continentals wore out rapidly. I have replaced the wheels and tyres with 205x55/R16s and this has transformed the ride of the car for the better to a degree I can hardly believe and it now soaks up bumps and potholes very well. This begs the question as to why car makers go to the trouble of engineering a really good car and then equip it with patently inappropriate wheels and tyres. Anyway I am at last a happy Skoda owner.
Skoda superb 206tsi
Turn my vehicles over every 3 years for business and have had SUV's but the Superb sold me as soon as I drove it and still love it! So quiet and comfortable but with the 206TSi motor it gets up a goes so has the enjoyment factor also as well as it looks so elegant! Its roomy inside and yet doesnt feel big on the road and has every option you could ever want EXCEPT digital radio??? Have fitted an after market unit which runs thru the aux in and happy now!
Fuel consumption with the hot motor is a little high but everything else outweighs that by a wide margin!
My daughter & son-in-law have a Skoda superb wagon. Every trip in it has been wonderful from the heated seats to the roomy interior. Rides so well. Great for luggage too. Would recommend to all. Economical to run. Great cameras all round. Wish I had one here in Sydney NSW
I've recently purchased a 6 year old Turbo-diesel wagon as I needed a comfortable load-lugger and I have to say it's been really, really, impressive. I've spent 5 times as much on new cars in the past and now I really wonder why I ever wasted that kind of money. The Skoda is soooo comfortable and is the top of the range with built in sat-nav and all the other bells and whistles, including heated leather seats, etc. It also parks itself though I've not tried it out yet. Seriously, when I'm parked at lights next to the BMW, Merc and Audi drivers,...or those in their big gas-guzzling 4WDs, it actually makes me smile to think how little I paid for a car with so much going for it, compared to what they would have paid. Seriously it is a superb car (excuse the pun) and if you can be 'big enough' to not be a badge snob and actually try one, you'll be highly impressed.I can't see myself ever parting with it.
Fantastic fuel economy on diesel. Very comfortable long distance tourer. Have done over 200,000 and not one repair. I also really like the DSG transmission. The radio phone integration is xcellent and easy to use. Very under rated car. It has plenty of pick up and goes and goes. I will buy another!
Optioned with the tech and comfort packs and 165KW turbo motor - The drive and build of this car are fantastic and there's almost nothing it misses out on. Acceleration is good with very little turbo lag (coming from our previous VW Jetta, it's a huge improvement in this regard).
I'm not a fan of the start-stop system as it doesn't know why you're stopping, which sometimes causes some annoyance when it shuts down unexpectedly - this can be turned off though so it's not a huge problem. Also, the 'comfort' mode is very bouncy and I don't like ...that, but with the electronic dampers, they can just be locked into sport mode through the entertainment system and then it handles really nicely. We looked at a lot of cars before this, and there was just no comparison in the end. This outperforms everything in the same price bracket in handling, power, looks and tech. Highly recommended.
After Five Years I am still in Love
My first wagon and the biggest car I have owned since my Fiat 130. Coming from an Audi Turbo Quattro I am seriously impressed with this car: the top of the range V6 Superb Elegance with most options. It can carry all the luggage you need plus ample space for ALL passengers. Because I went for the V6 it is not very economical around town but on the open roads it sips at less than 7.8l/100km. I love the leather heated seats in winter. Love the dual climate control. Love the acceleration and braking. The standard fixtures for retaining loads are v...ery clever; from a bottle of wine to a lawn mower, all solidly fixed so they cannot move. In the country the Bi-Xenon adaptive lights are like daylight and the adaptive part is amazing as they adjust the beam according to your speed. Not one issue with it apart from the usual irritating Can-Bus issues I have had in cars costing six times the Skoda; these are intermittent things like auto lights not turning off within 10 seconds or the auto windscreen wipers being a bit slow to respond to drizzle. The only downside I can vaguely report is it seems a bit heavy on tyre wear BUT it is a heavy car. More air-bags than any equivalent car of its year, including Mercedes Benz and BMW. Bigger brakes than any equivalent car (including the Mercedes E class and BMW 5 Series) and more luggage space and rear leg room than the equivalent E class.
Without doubt the best car I have ever owned. The smarts posessed by the CBUS wiring and computers on board is amazing, so much is adjustable and tailorable, like the turning lights. Adjustable memory mirrors and memory driver's seat. Auto windows up if it rains, if you want. Being able to simultaneously open 4 windows when unlocking car on hot day with just one button press...Wow. The actual performance spec on the petrol 1.8L turbo belies the mid range punch available from just 1500 rpm, and fuel economy is amazing for such a spacious and l...arge vehicle. Seats are simply the best ever experienced, by a long shot. Last Skoda was an 2012 Octavia RS Wagon and 143,000 km later was still faultless so quite impressed with the brand, and only purchased originally after some detailed research on the largest Skoda fleet in the world, the UK. Very happy owner of 118tsi Elegance Wagon in Champagne. Magnificent car with amazing load capacity and rear legroom. The 400w stereo is a revelation after past top of the line Toyota stereo..
Power, Economy & Luxury in ONE!
Every drive puts a smile on my dial. The torque of the 2l diesel is unlike Anything I have ever driven. Responsive, accelerating, confidence inspiring to safely overtake. Inside the cabin is Audi luxury, with a different badge, not to mention it's less then half the price.
Reliability has been faultless thus far, however just started noticing a little noise from the front end which I hope is nothing serious.
Rewarding, luxury, practical family car! Buy one, I would again!

Is the car capable in snow conditions? Eg driving up to Falls Creek regularly.
The ability of a car to travel into snow is not so much about one passenger car Vs another. Front drive cars with modest ground clearance and city tyres will all be pretty much the same. What varies is tyre profile (i.e. 40 series / 50 series or the like) and whether you can fit chains or not. DO NOT get fooled by thinking that an AWD car (whether Skoda or any other brand) without chains can do better in snow than a car with chains or is in anyway "safe" in snow (just look in the panel beaters near ski fields). Most modern cars (including the Superb) have ABS and traction control, but if you hit ice on chain-less tyres (and remember there is often a very fine line between settled snow and ice), then these features aren't much help. These features are however pretty good if you have chains on.
Having driven rear drive with chains on back and front drive with chains on front, in snow and assuming you only had one set of chains, I'd stick with the front drive as steering and power are on the same set of wheels.
As for which cars can accommodate chains - refer to the manufacturer specs, but typically most of the ones with low profile tyres (50 series or less) will not be compatible with most cheap / rental chains.
As for whether a Skoda Superb is good on a mountain climb, then strong mid range torque is important and all engines in the range do well here, with the diesel and the V6 obviously better than the smaller turbo four.
Actually I am looking to buy superb Skoda. Usually drive over 5000km a month mostly around city so can I get suggestions that which engine patrol or diesel should I go

That is a lot of Km. Usually a diesel is better in these circumstances. If you are leasing then I would take a 3 year lease at 40-50% balloon then think whether you want or need to turn it over. If you can obtain a 5 year warranty then go for 5 years with 25% balloon (residual). If Skoda are offering fixed servicing costs then take that too.
Yes definitely the diesel is the more efficient option. If smoothness and quietness are important then the petrol will be significantly more pleasant at idle and will offer more linear torque off idle and throughout the entire range, if you are a performance enthusiast there is no other choice other than petrol. If it were me, petrol!
I would recommend petrol as well as it's easier to obtain from petrol stations however, if you're planning on driving on muddy surfaces then disiel is the better option plus diesel is sludge and if you somehow get into a traffic collision - there's less chance of catching on fire

At 5,000km/mth I would buy a diesel. Servicing costs will be a lot less than a petrol car.

We've done +70,000 with the 125kw diesel Superb - my first diesel, goes like a dream. (once you adjust to the double-clutch auto at take-off). Overall 5.3 lt/100kms (mostly country), and plenty of power when you need it. Some mechanics say that for city driving, petrol's the way to go due to diesel injectors clogging - but if you have your car serviced properly, it shouldn't be an issue.
