Poor quality and poor toasting. Knob came off after first use. The toaster settings are not fine enough. For whole meal bread 5 ( out of 6) is too dark, but nudging it back a fraction it’s hardly toasted. There is no crumpet setting, nor room to put a decent crumpet in.

What were they thinking – This thing only has elements on one side for each slice. Brown on one side and white on the other. You have to flip it over and toast it twice. It's going back!

Fancy Name and looks, but just ordinary – Had this toaster for 6 months. Has all the fancy buttons. Tend to agree with other reviews that mention it is slow. Poor cord storage. Stopped working after 6 months. The latch / switch handle that plunges the toast into the toaster and switches on the elements will not stick in 'on' position. If you want toast you have to physically hold it in position, and given the slow toasting time this is a pain.

Worst toaster ever! – Got one for our wedding and had to have it replaced as it wouldn't stop cooking and got a replacement now that replacement is doing the same! DONT NOT BUY THE RED 4 SLICE TOASTER!

Great if you like warm bread – Purchased the new white and rose gold kettle and 4 slice toaster, they look so pretty, but that’s where it ends, doesn’t cook the toast just slightly warms it even on highest setting, gave it the benefit of the doubt and had it exchanged for a another alas that one is the exact same. kettle we’ve had no trouble with

Do not punish yourself – I bought a relatively expensive four port, stainless steel toaster from Smith and Nobel. It was a complete disaster from Day 1. Basically, it will not cook the toast. Even on the maximum setting, it takes at least three cycles to get any toast brown. Of course, by that stage, you have either eaten your eggs or binned them because they are cold. It… Read more

is a toaster that, quite simply, does not toast - a first for me. Just buy something else that actually works. It does look good though.

Great until it caught fire – We couldn't figure out why the safety switch on the house activated a few days ago. Today, while using this toaster I figured it out: the toaster shorted and the bottom of it caught fire. I won't be buying Smith + Nobel again.

Fine if you like fossilised toast – Perhaps my expectations were a little high, as I was upgrading from my BigW $20 4-slice toaster which was getting a little dodgy after 2 years. However, if my preference to use that $20 toaster instead of my shiny, new Smith+Nobel 4-slice toaster is anything to go by, then you know that I’m pretty disappointed. Yes, it is very attractive in the… Read more

titanium and brushed steel. Yes, it has all the standard functions like toast, reheat and defrost with browning setting dials for each pair of slots. And yes, it does provide a nice, even browning. But that’s where the positives end. If you take a look when this appliance is in action, you’ll see that the elements barely glow. And that means that it takes an eon to actually do its job, which in turn means that the bread has the life sucked out of it before it gets brown. The end result? Toast that you would swear was made in the dinosaur age (kind of like how long ago you put the actual bread inside the toaster) - dried-out, hard fossils of what was once upon a time bread. Seriously Smith+Nobel, it’s a toaster. How hard can it be? Back to the drawing board for you. And back to Harris Scarfe with this Jurassic fossilising machine.

Perfect for the whole family – My friend purchased the Smith and Nobel toaster for me last year as a Christmas present. I was instantly in love as it was red and it was a great size for the family as it fits 4 slices of bread. There are 2 sides to the toaster where you can adjust the setting each side depending on how you like your toast cooked. This is a wonderful feature… Read more

as anyone would know with children, they all like things done differently!

The toast/crumpets/muffins are always cooked to perfection and it is still going strong a year later. I am super happy with this toaster!
