Is it possible to change and upgrade the Hard Disk easily at home as it was with the older consoles? I have just had a error 8002F310 crash that has bricked my PS3. This was because I wished to continue playing GTA5, but Sony in their wisdom decided that I needed the GTA5 1.20 patch which required a system update, to 4.50 (I used wireless instead of USB memory stick) and because so many people were trying to do the same thing the wireless update timed out. As you know a stopped system update is fatal. So now I need a new PS3, but I need to be able to home upgrade the hard disk. (In the older systems, all you needed to get to was a little blue screw!) rather than let Sony have an extra $150

hi , yes you can , if it is a 12g model you would need to get a h/drive caddie ,,, for that error try this -- remove h/drive and do a format in your computer - what causes this when you try a download any thing can go wrong (power out - bad internet connection and so on ) always do and update via usb ,it is safer , just download the pup file from sony - what happens when you get a fail is ps3 gets caught in a loop and only way to get it out is do a format on h/drive and start again ,, if you cannot do it on a computer , find some one with a ps3 and use theirs to do the format ,,hope this helps you and feel free to ask any questions ,,DO UPDATE VIA USB ALL THE TIME , TURN OFF UPDATE IN XMB FIRST

forgot to add - when you set up your usb you have to format it then in upper case make a file called PS3 - THEN MAKE ANOTHER FILE INSIDE THIS ONE AND CALL (UPDATE ) - THEN YOU PUT PUP FILE INSIDE THIS ONE ,,, PUT USB IN THE CLOSEST USB PORT TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND FOLLOW ONSCREEN DIRECTIONS
