Can you not use the supplied USB cable in a generic wall charging adaptor, that has a USB slot, instead of connecting to a computer?

Hi ekrayson, I had no issues with charging the ereader. The problems i had was with the transferring of books to the ereader. Once the books are on the ereader it just couldn't be read. Have transferred books to an ipad and i could read them without any problems. I have tried the usb charger as you mentioned, but it made no difference.

The Sony Reader (like most ereaders) does not have a backlit screen. It is based on eInk, so it is just like reading an actual book. This has benefits in two ways; it reduces eye-strain by a huge degree, and it means that the battery lasts for ages. I bought a cover with a fold out light from the Sony Centre for mine, which looks and works great, and also means you can read at night.

Hi

This type of reader is not backlit so you need some type of external light when it's dark. I believe you can purchase a Sony Reader cover which has a light built into it.
