worst product ever – Base is weak and cracks do not waste your money. New base cost 199 what a joke, warranty on base 1 year. Crap dont buy and customer service and follow up is terrible.
Complicated – This product is unnecessarily complicated to put together. It comes with plastic base with damages easily. The instructions are terrible. The base was broken when we were putting this together. Avoid buying this product.
Poor quality and design flaws combined with the worst customer service – Bought the children a Spalding basketball system for Christmas. Within a year the main pole which attaches to the base was completely rusted out and fell over. Main pole is cheap thin Chinese steel and the clear a design flaw means water pools in this area despite doing everything to stop it. Got no joy from Spalding even after sending photos, report and proof of purchase. Avoid!
Would not buy another – Paid good money for my boys to play, base has cracked 3 times now. They have just sent me a new base which is great, but this will happen again. First base cracked within first 2 months, then another month later. We just gave up as the retail outlet would not cover it as we left it past the 12 months. Purchased another from Spalding and wow,… Read more
cracked on the first day. Phoned Spalding and they have posted out another but nobody listening. I asked for a replacement unit at a discounted price as the base has definitely a flaw in the design as the new ones seem to be more robust and filling and draining is done from the side and not the top. Had no response on replacement but they happy to just keep replacing the base. will see how long this one lasts.
Terrible - do not buy – Purchased a Gold. Backboard spider web cracked and ball return facia shattered within 12 months. New ones supplied....no questions asked with the understanding that this always happens...and now both are smashed again. Big hole in the backboard as well as the ball return. Does not last for the money spent.
Bad – Overall the product is pretty good, the main weakness is with the backboard, which is made from flimsy perspex that ends up cracking. The actual backboard area is also a little small, definately not official size. This is a product that you would expect to get at least 10 years use from, but unless there are replacement backboard parts available… Read more
at a resonable cost then it has lasted less than two years.
So overall it get's a thumbs down. Reasonably sturdy even in strong winds. Corrosion problems occuring aprox 12 months after purchase.
Perspex backboard came loose from the frame (held on with silicone) and shattered aprox 22 months from purchase, meaning we are now trying to find replacement parts. (the only impact to the board has been from childrens basketballs)
Terrible – Would be happy to send the product back however earlly xmas present and we live over 100 k from retail outlet. Not Happy have phoned Spalding will see what Product looks ok. My boys are excited as they love basketball. Looks Strong but will wait and see So Far they haven't supplied the correct bolts as well the surf board shaped plastic board below net doesnt line up that well. Is there a cover at the top of pipe?
OK – The kids have had hours of fun with this item. Rain hail or shine they are out there using it. Easy to come by parts and the customer services from huffysport.com was exceptional. Fantastic item. With 2 boys using it all the time has lasted 3 years until recently when the backboard cracked. Contacted Huffysport.com and they will deliver including freight $80 from VIC. About a week delivery.
OK – Overall a good product but have not been able to use it for 12 months now as do not have a workable base for it. Like the adjustable system. Fairly easy to assemble and fun to use. Spare parts. Have been looking for a base since it was broken in January Where do I get a new base for this without buying a whole new product? Surely there is somewhere I can get one.
Hi. I was just wondering if you found a base for your basketball system.
Bad – If you are comfortable in replacing the whole system every one to two years, then this is a good unit. Fundamentally, expensive and difficult-to-get spares are needed. Has caused more than it's fair share of frustrations. It works and it's adjustable Not resilient enough to remain outside on the elements for more than a couple of years. Backboard… Read more
is the weakest point closely followed by the base which will crack and break in a relatively short time
