Spirit of Queensland

Spirit of Queensland – We booked for a trip from Brisbane to Proserpine with sleeper beds to holiday at Airlie Beach. The rail trip was supposed to be a new travel experience in itself, unfortunately there was a derailment so train was cancelled, fair enough. We travelled to Gladstone on a coach then transferred to the train to Proserpine. We cancelled the return trip and flew home. Just like to let people know that if any part of your rail trip is cancelled you will have to transfer to a coach, for us this was terrible, maybe ok for others. I would advise if any issues with train cancel it and go another time or fly. FYI maybe helpful for some.
Time to travel Queensland – Hi everybody Jack here again. Just love writing for product review and telling all of you my tales. I lost my sister to the most beautiful Queensland. Her and her husband- eight kids, (family) moved there twenty years ago. I figured it was time for me to visit this paradise. As always i like to go in style and see as much as possible. As i live in Victoria it was a plane to Cairns which was quick. I jumped the Trinity Bay- (Freight ship) Cairns (Doc 10) Heading to Cape York. Firstly the ship visits Horn Island (quick stop over) amazing museum and military history. This visit alone is a two day stop over believe me. If you are remotely interested in Australia's war history the remote North is a must to go see. Sadly the cargo was off loaded in less than eight hours so on our way again. Next stop Thursday Island and "Hooley Dooley" can these guy';s tell some fish stories. I asked if it was safe to paddle my legs in/near the mangroves. The local said where do you come from- i said Melbourne she said yes go right ahead- Ha Ha! very funny. The freight ship service is run by Sea Swift Lines. No frills holiday shared with the crew. Passengers are treated well and fed to the brim with simply the most amazing buffet you could wish for. Thursday Island is so overflowing with archival past riches especially the war stories i was absolutely beside myself. These treasures have been so very gettable for so long. The cargo again was off loaded in a short time so it was off again. I was told that if any one wanted to stay at the Thursday Island (TI) it was not a problem and they could be picked up on the way back from Seisha. Then Seisha was next stop. The trip to Cape York from Seisha is very short but a cut lunch and plenty to drink is on the menu for this effort. After five days at sea we were back at Cairns. Next day i caught the train from Cairns Train Terminal to Cooroy. 1500 Kilometres. The best Journey on the table in 16. I traveled on the Rocky Mountaineer in April 16, The Indian Pacific September 16, If you get a chance stick this on your to travel do list.
