If you are into throwing $20 into the bin then this product is for you – The only time it worked was on the sample material that was provided. Instructions are poor. Its great for punching a lot of holes into the material but don’t expect it to actually sew anything. The cotton just comes out of the holes. Show details

Utter garbage – Great if you don't want to actually stitch anything. Difficult to thread; written instructions don't match pictorial examples; thread easily comes out of needle when attempting to stitch (but you don't know that until you take the material away et viola! No stitches!). When it actually does stitch, it does so for about 3 stiches, then stays in one… Read more

position (despite trying to move the unit along the material line) and jams up the thread. Result? No stitches! Not even the initial 3 stitches will remain because the thread will break.

Pulling thread from the lower arm causes internal misalignment so then will not sew – The underside loop was not forming as soon as I removed the test piece of cloth that came with the unit. So I opened up the machine (4 screws) to check the internal mechanism. I found the loop catcher hook misaligned. The internal mechanism is flimsy and easily misaligned by pulling the thread out of the lower arm or by pulling on the material… Read more

while still clamped down by the fastening plate/ material feed dog. I fixed it by adjusting the internal alignment and lubricated the mechanism with vaseline. Now it works... but this repair is finicky and takes time, so ... next time it fails, I'm throwing it away!

Great for travelling use – It took a little time to understand the simplicity of this machine. This is what I learned so far: 1. It has a SINGLE thread bobbin. There is no inside bobbin. 2. The long black extension spindle is for a reel of cotton - and it works! 3. To end off the sewing thread, pull through the thread loop and tie. Show details

It's very handy and simple to use – By purchasing the twin pack I've got plenty of spare bobbins so will get plenty of use out of this unit. Seems to be quite robust in manufacturing as well .love it ! Show details

BEWARE – Don't get sucked in. My daughter was given one last christmas (8mths ago). it's been used once. It doesn't sew. looked online for some troubleshooting info and watched a youtube on how to lower the needle and then it should work. Tried that and it did six stitches before not working again. Piece of junk. And the q&a page the only response from… Read more

Useful – This product works great as a door stop or a walnut cracker, as for sewing its not going to happen. One useful thing was the black patch of material that came with it i used it as a patch on some work pants for my husband. Thank you. not

Angry and ripped off – The advertising for this machine is total fiction. It is not easy to use. You would need to have the eyes of an eagle to even get it ready to sew or even read the accompanying instructions. I would have to have 20 years + experience as a seamstress or tailor to be able to use this overpriced piece of crap adequately. Total waste of money and not worth the $70 (N.Z.)for two that i paid. Don't be fooled by the advertising.  Show details

Do not buy this machine is rubbish! – I have had my machine for more than 30 days, so no money back option and have only just tried it. I would have to concur, it is a piece of crap. Tried one simple job, it stitched for 20 sec then stopped. I had to go to the internet to seek help and after trying all solutions suggested the machine will not stitch for more tHan 20 sec. so far the… Read more

needle has shifted position every time I have sewn, no matter how tightly I do the screw up. This stops the stitch from forming. It is rubbish and I regret having purchased it.

Value for Money – After unboxing it & finding fabric in the mouth of the product, I immediately thought someone else had owned/been using it prior to me receiving it but I realised later on that the fabric in the mouth of the product is standard when first dispatched as it helps protect the needle etc whilst in transit. I also didn't realise that the orientation of… Read more

the batteries had to be a certain way while inserting them & consequently thought my product was faulty as it wouldn't work initially. Luckily, I referred to YouTube for several tutorials which showed the correct orientation of the batteries as well as trouble-shooting situations & how to use the machine generally. I am very happy now about my purchase as I'm able to use it the way it's supposed to be used - bearing in mind that it's not a proper sewing machine!

Worked once – Worked well for 1 hem. Then stopped tying the stitch on the underside. It just pushes the needle through the fabric and back out again without making a stitch. I tried everything, including trying to replace the needle, but the spare needle supplied with the machine does not even fit it! The shaft must have a flat side that goes toward the front… Read more

of the machine, but this needle's shaft is perfectly round and too large to fit in the hole! Absolutely awful quality control in the build and packaging. It was incredibly cheap - and you get what you pay for. Save your money and avoid this junk.

Lightweight sewing – Hi, the fastsew is a handy product, a go to for those needed repairs. Although it has its limitations and will not sow heavier fabrics such as denim, but that is explained in the product info. Show details

Good but – Most disappointed when I cut the thread only to realise that the thread was unravelling - Fast Sew doesn't reverse to finish off the stitch. The ability to reverse would be an excellent addition to any up-dated model! Show details

Piece of garbage – Bought it today at BigW for $20 for minor mending of a pillowcase that had a tear in it. Worked for an 8cm length then nothing. No stitching. As if there was no thread at all. Read every web suggestion I could find (including the ones on this site) on how to magically get it to work. Removed thread and re-threaded and it worked for another… Read more

3cm of stitching. Then nothing again. Hand stitched instead. Which was quicker than time spent trying to figure it out. Please don't waste your money.

Hopeless product – I was taken in by the advertising which emphasised how easy and effective this hand held sewing machine was to use. The reality has been very different. It took a very long time for the product to arrive after ordering and paying. When I finally received it, I found that it was threaded and ready to use, but the problem was that it did not… Read more

actually sew. The needle did not connect with the material which was made of cotton. The trouble shooting suggested that the needle might need adjusting which I did but it made no difference at all. I tried adjusting again and this time the needle just popped out. Far from being a convenient handy product, I found it to be frustrating and of no use at all. The instruction sheet is poorly set out and the photos are cheaply done so that the various parts labelled are not at all clear. Both the sewing machine and the instruction sheet were put together cheaply and the end product certainly reflects this. Don’t waste your money buying this product as you will be extremely disappointed. It does not live up to the advertising hype, in my case, it just did not work.
