disassemble them, washing & drying each component with care & allow them to air until next use. There are no signs of cracking, the valves work perfectly each time & the canisters stay sealed for over 12 months. I also use the largest as a vacuum chamber for resealing screw top jars that have the pop up buttons in the middle of their lids. The air escapes past the jar lid seal rather like it does when heating in a water bath when preserving & stops half used jars of food from going mouldy or small amounts of dry good going stale. The seal occurs immediately you release the pressure on the chamber. I can't praise these enough, if you having problems I don't know why? 2023 - Another 2 years on & still performing brilliantly!

Canisters need hose to seal but hose connectors break in lid and render canister useless – The Sealing tube port has broken in my canister lid, it is stuck and I can't remove it, this is the second hose that has done this and I now have 1 medium canister and 1 large canister with no lids, these are expensive containers and I would like the canister lids replaced. website doesn't list parts and the American site has the tube for $3 but doesn't ship to Australia. I love the canisters although they have started cracking and hazing underneath after not very much use

Quality was expected from Sunbeam – We have used vacuum canisters for years and were always disappointed with the lifespan of the cheap Chinese brands. Last year we purchased two packs of the Sunbeam round canisters expecting better durability for the additional expense. holding the vacuum overnight. Having read these product reviews I realise it has not been a result of my misuse, and I hope that Sunbeam acknowledge the problem and act accordingly.

I AM All Cracked Up – I have purchased 2 of the older rectangular canisters and they lasted about a year - one of them only used once or twice, the other about 6-7 times. I have since purchased 2 sets of the round ones and after about 3-4 years, have two left. Out of 8 canisters there only 2 left that have not split across the bottom. seem to go on how many times you use them, rather that after a time (about a year) they crack across the bottom. You are then left with a number of perfectly good lids which appear to be much of the manufacturing cost and complication than the actual poly-carbonate bottom.

I contacted Sunbeam to advise them of the problem and suggest they look at the manufacturing process/materials used etc as this was an expensive and substandard product. I got the usual robotic response thanking me for my interest.

My advice to all is do not purchase these canisters. Great concept, but a bit like building a ship out of steel and using a wooden bottom because its cheaper or that using another material hasn't occurred to them.

Disappointed – Like previously mention we also received a defective canister (something broken in the lid) these were brand new. Very sad that we also received no help from sunbeam. The other 2 work fine, however won't buy anymore canisters and due to bad customer service we won't buy anymore Sunbeam products. Canisters seal well as long as your lucky with purchase Unreliable product, medium canister never sealed. No warranty at all.

Bad – I am not happy with the support I got from Sunbeam, they would not replace or even aknowledge that there was a defect in the item. Will not purchase further canisters The vacuum foodsaver is a great idea but... The canister is not strong enough to withstand having the pressure of the vacuum and over a short time (depending on how often you use it) the base of the canister splits from the very centre out.

Excellent – l would like more canisters of different sizes. avacardo size would be perfect as these do not keep and l live in the bush. Biscuits keep excellent and for items that come and go every day these are perfect. re usable not enough range of sizes
