DON'T BUY FROM SWANN – Bought brand new Swann SWVID-OBC140 bout 2 years ago. Dwnloaded firmware. Followed their instructions to the letter. Camera is inoperable. Tried ringing Swann. They no longer support the camera. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/nhnTfDl_yjE
Swann Outback Cam Is not working at all – When I bought it, it was about a year ago and the first one did not work and so I changed it for a replacement. The second one did work but chewed batteries like you never have seen but as used in night videos which were just a blob of white I was able just to make out the vermin I was looking for but very barely. (video is attached but the two… Read more
don't work) I put it away and sort of backed off as I wanted to use it when I went bush to see the animal day/nightlife but the because of the battery usage left it at home. I then see and gathered it can be used with a power supply to the camera and so I bought a power supply as recommended and yes it works! So I set it up to take photos in a known vermin area but it only takes one photo and that's of me as I did stand in front of it and then downloads only 1 video the following morning, which to me says there were no vermin around unless you count me as vermin? However, to be certain I bought it inside and put it in a well-used area and set the date and the times, etc to make beaut, following everything in the book about what to do to make it supposedly work. Went away and checked the next morning and 1 video and a photo (hmm, I set it on video only). The following night after resetting and revaluing the camera, set it up to run again but this time no videos pics, or anything. I guess you could say just a pile of junk and btw downloading the videos onto my computer is a huge chore at worst as it would not download but then it cooperated and after 2 goes each time since it does download. I have bought a few Swann items over the years and have never been up to scratch I tend to waver away from them as a matter of risky but better choice being available and have not had the downhearted feeling that Swann products give me after they are in use and at the time have taken them down after a short period and replaced with lesser known brands to get the satisfaction I paid for. Btw am glad I checked the videos I uploaded onto your system but both of them don't work!!! So your review page is not set up right also??? BTW I rang the place I bought the Outback Camcorder from and they said to bring it down for exchange which I have done and I was told I could either receive my money back or take a replacement and so I have the new one in my possession and doing the test on it trying to see what it is a piece of junk or it works. Come this far and there has to be one that works don't you think? On the first day of set recordings it worked. I have more tests for my own piece of mine until I will accept it. I notice the camera is housed in a different box that does not say "Wireless Transmitted" which is also misinformation. Please don't class people as stupid and where is the "quality control inspected " carried out as a sticker says on the Camcorder? I have gone through two and onto 3 and while I keep them in warranty I will keep on replacing until I get one that works as what Swann tells me this product will do.
I have since taken back the second Camera and replaced it with another which after very careful use… Read more (+1 reply)
Absolutely useless – Don't waste your time or money. I cannot get this thing to work. The motion detection simply refuses to work. I got a replacement unit from the retailer. It took motion detected still photos in the shop but no video. When I got it home it failed to detect motion at all. I have had no support from Swann despite trying various methods to contact them. I will be going back to the retailer to request a refund.

Useless at night – Have been using this for about a week. The pictures in daytime are good, but at night the pictures are mainly obliterated by a large white area. I have attached one of the better ones despite setting it to only use 19 LEDs. Am now investigating physically blocking some of the LEDs. It is also a bit cumbersome to use. Have logged a support call… Read more
but the automatic response said it would take two weeks and suggested using the Live Chat. Live Chat did not respond in an hour yesterday and I have been waiting 75 minutes today. It seems that there is no support.

Terrible product, doesn't work, complete waste of money – Motion sensor not working, won't record any video and the only photos recorded were when I was setting it up. You can't see exactly where the camera is pointing with the back panel on so extremely difficult to position correctly. Also the screen view is miniscule, appears as though it is zoomed right in but I can't change it. I have two other… Read more
outdoor cameras and a DVR unit, also Swann, they don't work either. Hundreds of dollars spent on this brand and not a single event captured, my house has been broken into twice with these in place. These products suck hard, don't waste your money.

The Swann Outback Battery Operated Observation System features an amazing high resolution 12 megapixel camera, durable water resistant casing and powerful day and night vision up to 50ft/15m. It uses 4 x AA^ for standard use or 8 x AA^ for extended operating time. Keep a lookout in remote areas with portability by mounting to trees, posts or flat surfaces. With a wide angle view, monitor farm or wild animals, or capture unwanted behavior such as trespassing, vandalism and dumping trash.
•Can operate in temperatures down to -20°C
•Can produce HD 1080p videos at 15 frames per second
•Day, time and moon phase stamping
•Long lasting battery operation
The Battery Life is far less than what is claimed on the Package. I have been through $40 worth of batteries in 2 months on the lowest trigger setting.
I set the sensitivity of the " motion activated recording " to lowest and pointed the camera at a wall inside our house, the camera recorded non stop loops of the wall. No moving objects in any frames.
The camera has pin-code security which I find useless as you can just remove the memory card and play the recordings.
Instructions are a little vague and the menu in confusing as some of the buttons on the rear of the camera are either not working or for features not supported in this model.
I could not recommend this camera.
( Note : I actually have Swann Home security and it works well ).
