Tablo Publishing

After they have continually been taking $ (every second year, now $299 x 3 has been removed) with no response from them, I've taken it up with Consumer Affairs. They have said that if enough people complain, they can become involved/move it to VCAT/magistrates court, on clients' behalf. So I encourage anyone who has been scammed/lost $ to contact Consumer Affairs.

What the hell has happened to Tablo? – I have previously given a great 5 star review to Tablo, but I recently ordered some draft copies and they came back in A4 size. Now no one answers my emails, messages etc and the AI set up is about as useful as pockets on a singlet. Very sad to see such an exciting concept and business end up like this. I mean, did everyone just up and leave?

Wonderful service – Tablo helped me publish my first book, they were helpful and professional, I encourage all aspiring authors to have a serious look at Tablo.

Tablo gives me control – Tablo offers flexibility, control of royalties and IP. It is easy to use with many useful features. I have been satisfied with their responsiveness and support.

Disgusted and Disappointed – I thought one of the owners, [Name Removed] was going to be a man of his word but once the book was published, I ordered, received the book and heard nothing of sales or royalties. I referred someone else and they have taken advantage of an elderly women taking payments for a book that was never published. No one will answer.

Not happy – I was very happy with the book I had published, then I talked my girlfriend into doing the same. Unfortunately after submitting the book, we heard nothing, and after many emails we have not heard anything about the book. The money was taken from the account, and 9 months later there is no book or refund. Even Consumer Affairs have not had any luck with contacting them.

Non payment of royalties – I really wanted to believe in Tablo. I met with [Name Removed] and found him pleasant and convincing. Initially things went well, although I always had to ask for my royalties. Currently I have three payments 'on hold' and no emails are being replied to. Although I have ceased my relationship with Tablo, they are still occasionally making a sale ... and I have seemingly no way of getting my royalty payment.

Stay away – A [Content Removed] [Content Removed] business. So not give them a cent. You’ll never hear from them again. If you see any good reviews please note the date as they stopped being legit around 2022. It’s a [Content Removed].

Tablo Publishing Consumer Complaints – There is now a class action mounting against Tablo Publishing. For all the very unhappy publishers out there, please contact Victorian Consumer Affairs. They have had many complaints and we need to get this investigated further. This is a prediction only, that [Name Removed] will be the face of the next Netflix doco series on people who got rich [Content Removed] people who had a dream.

Rip off merchants!! – Although I've cancelled my account and deleted my bank cards from Tablo they're still UNLAWFULLY taking money from my account! They now owe me in the vicinity of $200!!! I demand a refund!!!

Still no response but happy to continue taking $$$$ – Just a follow up from my previous review: nothings changed with Tablo! No contact whatsoever on their part but yet they're still taking money from my account. They now owe me approx $175 after I cancelled months ago. Clearly the messages I sent about the ACCC aren't getting through. Do not under any circumstances use this company!

Very poor customer service – I was recommended Tablo and wanted to support a Melbourne-based platform. The book formatting process and platform was fine but now the "proof" is stuck in limbo. It says there is a 3-5 day lead time with up to 10 days when you use the AI chat. It's been five weeks and absolutely nothing. Very disappointed with all the time wasted.

I just can't get in touch with them anymore – Hello, I have published 19 books with Tablo. There are some which I don't want to renew the subscription for, but money is taken out of my account without them notifying me first. Also, my latest book, Mokum 3, never appeared online. person responding speaks a language other than English and has not understood my questions. Additionally, I think it is very interesting that the contract for my first book expired with them in October last year but that book is still for sale on the internet: Amazon and Booktopia etc. Out of curiosity, I ordered a copy and it arrived; however, there were no royalties allocated to me for this sale. That, of course, makes me wonder how many of my books have been sold since last October for which I have received no royalties: no doubt, TABLO still take their cut $$. I wonder how long this will continue to be the case. Of course I am unable to get answers to these questions. The terms and conditions of TABLO are vague, especially when it comes to understanding how this part of the publishing process works. Disgraceful customer service!

This company is the worst – Never before have I seen such terrible customer service. It's hard to even call it that when it is non-existent. We cancelled the autorenewal of our publication 11 months ago after it did it last year, but what do you know, it happened again. Now no one is responding to our emails or messages and there is phone number available to contact either. Absolutely horrendous and an abuse of power!

New problems with Tablo – I am obliged to reverse my previous recommendation of Tablo. Up until the end of 2022 the service was excellent. Now it seems that key staff have left, and for the past three weeks there has been no response to my requests for contact about a forthcoming publication. Unless there is a drastic change, I can no longer recommend Tablo to other authors.

Absolutely horrible service – I published a book through Tablo and they have incorrectly listed the amount of sales. They also don't get back to you when you have queries. I highly recommend you DON'T go through this company.

Extremely rewarding experience – I have found Tablo extremely helpful and obliging and would highly recommend them to anybody interested in publishing. A very professional company with lovely people to work with.

Tablo is everything it claims to be – The staff are always friendly and helpful and to an old bloke like me, that's everything. I make plenty of mistakes, but I'm always shown one way or another how to correct them. They're true to their word, they make everything simple.

answer. Tablo made mistakes on my pre-printed copy. when I asked for support, [Name Removed] brushed me off. I was told [Name Removed], the CEO would be in touch, he never contacted me. I missed my launch date by, still counting - 7 days. I would NEVER recommend this company and if I could only get a manager on the phone i'd demand a full refund, sadly, that's not possible. You've been warned. EDIT - ONE YEAR ON - I'm now suing Tablo with the help of the Victorian Trade Standards. Tablo owe me money and I've been contacted by 8 other Authors who have had the same bad experience.

their products are there to serve the author. I believe that some modern publishers not all lack care for the author. And authors are paid little to no royalties. Because of operational costs it takes a lot to keep a small press in business. I know my capital is being utilised properly.

one of my books I uploaded a finished PDF. - This is a big saving compared to services like Amazon and Ingram, where you need a very specific (and costly) type of file to upload. - Publishing was fairly quick, and it takes ~2 days for bookstores to start showing my books. There were some hiccups with pricing and availability at first, but this I understand is normal across self-publishing. - Printing was easier than expected. That said, I do need to message them for tracking - it would be nice to have tracking in the interface. - Royalties were previously a little slow, but this has now been fixed, and I have a dashboard to withdraw royalties on my own. It's now faster to receive royalties than other services.

Overall, I'd highly recommend Tablo to first time, or experienced writers. There's some room to improve, but they're a long way ahead of other self publishing tools. I really like their approach.
