I would not recommend this TV/DVD combo – I bought two of these tv/dvd combos and after a year the first DVD stopped working. I thought it was just a bit of bad luck then another 6 months later the next DVD player stopped working. Let this be a warning to those wanting to buy a this product I would not recommend you waste you money. The TV still works and the quality is good for a small TV DVD stopped working
Disappointing with model V2257 22" – I have had model V2257. Bought it hoping that the DVD & TV would last like a computer DVD reader. But guess what. I was lucky to get a year of very little use. The DVD will not play. It ejects all types of DVDs & CDs after trying to read them. I would have been better buying a TV with only the USB socket for recording & playing & a seperate compact type of DVD player but just wanted to do away with all the leads for it to look neat. My DVD player in my computer has been working for years and the Teac DVD players look to be the same type of concept. That is, the players lead is a ribbon type of plug that can be connected & disconnect when removing & installing. It would have been a good design if it said it would have excepted other DVD drives.
Oh well. It looks like I have given Teac an extra $200. for a DVD that only worked for a year.
To sum up. I wouldn't ever bother buying a TV DVD combo ever again unless proven to be faultless or a garantee to replace within a period of 5 years.
As for Teac. I have banned them from my buying list. The TV USB connection for recording & playing to USB DVD player stopped working.
Unbelievable, after my first one made a humming noise when switched on, and ever since view got my second one I have to eject or switch to tv and back to DVD to get the DVD to work.... Now after about 10 ejection attempts it wont work at all... I was lucky it played for me last night. I will be ringing to return it to the good guys tomorrow and won't leave without a new one or a different brand!!! No wonder it was heavily reduced
Bad – I don’t think they have worked out how to incorporate the DVD player into the TV without causing any issues until they do I would stick with separate TV and DVD players. The tv was fine and the picture was good The DVD player kept "breaking" to start with it would not play the DVD you could hear the DVD spinning but the DVD player wouldn’t recognise that there was a DVD in the player, so we returned it and they said that it was just the DVD player, its never happened before, and swapped it once we got home (a 45 min drive) we tried to play a DVD and had the same issues so back to the store they then sent it away (2 mths) when we got it back it would play some DVD’s for 5 min and then freeze other DVDs it would freeze after just seconds, back to the store where we swapped it for another TV with external DVD player.
Re: the difficulties with the DVD player. I just bought the TEAC 19 inch tv / dvd combo. I set it up and popped a DVD in to test the unit. DISC ERR was the message. So I thought, maybe it didn't like that particular disc......same problem. Lots of noise then the error message. I was going to return the unit the next day but out of curiosity and defining intellectual pride I thought I'd look into the instruction manuel. To my surprise the DVD is supposed to be inserted the opposite way to normal. E.g. the readable part of the disc must face the front of the viewer / the printed side to the wall! I tried it and guess what? It works.
A lesson in life - forget technical intellect - read the manual
Excellent – thought i'd write a review since people only ever write reviews when stuff gets broken or doesn't work properly. Had this TV for a year and never had a problem with it. All DVD's work fine incl burnt DVD's. USB works great for watching movies. Love the white colour. Channels have tuned in fine. White colour, reliable, USB movies means no need to burn a DVD. Can't tilt it to face downwards - but that's my fault for not checking that before I bought it.
