As a buyer - most of the items online are fast fashion (either cheap FF cr#p or high end designer, nothing in between). I purchased multiple items but none were as listed. Far more wear than described and an item said NWT but no tag was attached. Website is hard to navigate, the size filters do not work, seems to be very basic tech wise and needs… Read more
improvements.
As a seller - the first time I sold with them, was ok. But they donated items that were 100% sellable such as a country road jumper. The second time I send a huge bag of clothes, shoes and accessories. They decided that not one item was good enough for their website. Brands I had sent, they literally have on their website or do not have listed as FF but that was the reason given anyway.
Asked for them to send back or refund the money I paid for the bag and postage - they refused.
Their customer service is average at best.
I have a voucher for their store and there is nothing I’d want to buy, as I said very cheap and mostly FF items.
If you want to sell - try Swap Up or EBay. If you want to buy, try op shops or Swap Up.
Not this place.
Sorry.
When I came across this website I thought it was a great idea to recycle my clothing. I have been upgrading my wardrobe over the last 12 months and have many good quality, many new items. Thankfully I held back on sending them all the good stuff. It took over three weeks for them to finally get back to me about what my items cost and I was so… Read more
disappointed. Some of the reasons they gave for the ridiculously low prices, like “not on trend” were absolutely laughable. I ordered three bags and sent one bag of clothes and used the other two for shipping with a great website I discovered for recycling clothing. I actually set my own prices for my awesome clothes and I make some money with them. I wouldn’t even get back to the closet regarding payment options. They can keep the clothes and the money.
Such poor service from this online shop, my payout was such a little amount for new quality items sent .I would not recommend selling here infact I purchased 3 bags but I would never use the last two bags .Thinking it was amazing way to sell and recycle but it seems to be a complete failure on both counts.
Turn around time was to slow. Items that were brand new, were deemed “old”, or $7. When new they were $170. I only ordered a bag to find out they didn’t take brands, already listed on their site.
Just a comment I came across this site was in thought to sell till reading the reviews here the Negative all have a common theme of low earns to sales & misleading narrative to sellers There are some claiming how fantastic this site is they also in my opinion have a common theme as sounds too good to be true judging the many negative reviews that… Read more
certainly voice the same message has to make one stop think is it the closet related writing these award reviews #justsaying It has made me think twice in the negative to go to the work taken to sell my merc on this site as I don’t see any responses from the closet so are they hiding in the closet? either not keeping track of sellers buyers reviews states to me loud clear Dismissive no regard to the people the closet relies on to run a business which is poor relations this definitely puts me in the negative Just a MindThought #myopinion
I would not recommend this online store to sellers. The processing took several weeks, they rejected items that were new suggesting they were marked or scuffed in some way, and the prices they set for the other items were so low that the payouts were negligible. Communication was poor throughout the process. There are other thrift stores that… Read more
process items in days, offer more reasonable payouts and have a far better online experience for sellers, so look around.
If only, I could rate the 0 stars. How can they publish a long list of brands they do not accept, just to find the same brands being listed on their website for sale. Do they lie to the sellers and say they can't sell certain items, but instead keep them and sell them themselves, as it costs $5 per item plus shipping for a seller to get their items back?!!! Scam alert!!
I've made several purchases and been really satisfied with everything I have bought. Naturally, when buying online, not everything comes exactly as you imagined. Sometimes things aren't quite as good, but sometimes they are much better!! Everything has been near new if not new in appearance. Overall, it's a great way to buy fantastic clothes, in an environmentally friendly and affordable way. .
I've been extremely impressed with The Closet. There was an error made with my order & they went well beyond my expectations to rectify it. The item ordered is in excellent condition & exactly as described. I will definitely shop with The Closet again. Thank you.
A terrible organisation! I hate to say it as I am a supporter of preloved and anything fashion, but its just plain bad, disorganised, poor service, and obviously not fashion minded people in charge. The resale items they chose were the cheap things, and they donated an unworn black leather skirt and multiple Australian designer gowns with tags on… Read more
them (RRP over $400), along with many other quality items. 3x large bags with over 80 items and I was given $70. When questioned, they claimed that all 3 bags had arrived but could not provide proof, and then said that the items not considered for sale were 'worn' and unfit, despite not sending a single item that wasn't in perfect condition (yes I have a huge shopping problem and dont ever remember to return things haha). They did give me a $50 credit for complaining which was kind(after much back and fourth and one person who resigned and never passed on my case - but the second lady I spoke to was lovely). I spent this credit on a size 14 listed jacket, and it arrived the exact same item, but it was actually a size 6.... I also purchased some other items over time, one that was far more worn than the images made out, and one that I was happy with although it was a bag and it arrived squished in a post satchel with only some tissue paper. They currently have multiple items listed with incorrect 'RRP' prices listed. There are some lovely lacey pants that are for sale for $109, 'was $400', when a simple google will tell you that the original item was only $150 and its from almost a decade ago. Just bad practice!!
Such a great concept – The closet is a great way to buy and sell preloved clothing. The website is easy to use, the customer service is fantastic, and the clothes always arrive in the same condition as listed on the site.
The pay out figures are unfair – So I sent some items tht still had tags or tht have never been worn and they claim they had tht worn look or the item with the tags was only worth $3 to me when I paid $70 for it. Do not list your clothes with them unfair pay rates
No eye for vintage – Send them some vintage pieces, was told that they were dirty (never worn, and steam cleaned). Horrible service, for the clothing that they did accept got less than $12 for them. They are an absolute joke.

Everything except for one – (Editing for now) I got the parcel in a timely manner, but wasn't told that the parcel was separated into different packages so I thought I was missing a cape! Still waiting on it for now, but the rest of the clothes are as shown on the website!
Fantastic innovative business idea! – The Closet is the perfect service for any women who would like to sell some of their unwanted good quality clothing but do not have the time to sell on other online platforms. You can simply request a postage bag, fill it up with your clothes to sell and post it back. After the clothes are processed, you are offered a payment and if you accept the… Read more
amount you can be paid out in store credit or via paypal or bank transfer. It is a great way to recycle clothing and an easy way to make a little bit of extra money.
