My experience with Neil at the Engine Shop has been very positive. After I took my Ecotec 3.8l engine apart, I took it to Neil to check all the parts. My intention was to rebuild it myself after getting Neil to check it and make sure everything was fine before I got any machine work done on it. Although it wasn't good news, Neil pointed out all… Read more
the parts that needed either replacing or machining, and told me what the costs would be. He did all this without charging me!
I highly recommend him, and I would certainly go back if I need his help in the future.
Unfortunately, there was too many issues with my engine, so now I will source another engine.
Terrible experience.online bullying, not a nice business to deal with – An online horror, I cannot believe the mistreatment we received, the name calling etc. Avoid at all costs. absolute online bully. Cannot express the hate I received. Never recommend ever. Online bully.

Beer o’clock – It was beer o’clock but the boys still helped me out with a welsh plug urgently needed that the big supply shops couldn’t supply till next day. It was a random stop that saved my day Great service. Thanks guys Note: No beer was spilled while locating the plug
Neal is arrogant – Rang for quotes on head recondition got a price. I asked for pricing on head valves. He didnt know what I was talking about. I explained. he suggested i go to another place. not nice business.

Oh my god this guy called Neil is bloody awesome – The guys from the engine shop fixed my car and did it in less than a week!! You have got to visit this place, and all there products are at so low of a cost.
Possibly the best machine shop in Perth – Had a great experience here at The Engine Shop. He removed the head and fixed the issue on my Ford Ranger with minimum of fuss and a pleasant bill too. Also fitted up a new exhaust. No request was too much. Highly recommend to everyone.
Poor excuse for a mechanic – Spoke to the owner of the Engine shop in Canning Vale and after getting a verbal quote with a witness to rebuild my engine would be $6000 plus parts I agreed to the quote and to commence work on my Toyota Prado thru his workshop, I visited the workshop (with a witness) about a week in to commencement of work when I was asked to come down and… Read more
while there was
advised that I would need a crankshaft and conrod and I asked would this be extra or included in the initial quote of $6000 I
had been given and was advised that it would be extra and I would be advised the cost. I was sent a text on Thursday the
11th of May and advised $470 for the parts which was fine. I then phoned on Tuesday the 23rd of May but was not able to
contact [name removed] so sent a text asking if there had been any more developments on my engine. I received a response (via text) on the 24th of May from [name removed] advising me that he had made the decision for a person from another garage to reinstall my engine. On Thursday the 25th of May I phone the engine shop asking if my car was ready to collect and was emailed an invoice dated the 9th of May totaling $9,553.44. I phoned the engine shop and mentioned that the invoice was far different that what I had agreed to. I went down to pick up my car and pay the $6000 plus parts but the owner refused until I paid the $9,553.44 and made it very clear that he would not release the car until it was paid this left me in a very difficult predicament. So I was forced to pay the $9,553.44 on the 30th of May.
In conclusion there seem to be a fundamental disagreement between me and the vendor I believe what was I quoted to me
the $6000 plus parts that was agreed to pay and the owner has added a hidden cost of $1,636.36 that I had not agreed to.
I've had to take the car back twice due to sloppy work engine leaks, seals that were leaking only two weeks later. I asked for a copy of the paperwork and was advised would have it within a week. Have reported him to the ACCC and when I mentioned about the paperwork the gentleman brought that up with [name removed] and his response was no won't be doing it as it will take me too long. This guy is a liar and a deceitful person.
They also damaged the bonnet strutts and wouldn't replace them plus cut the lock nutts off my lightbar with no explanation and then put ordinary nutts back on.
