The Renovator Join A Jig

Used it a lot! And have loved it… – Quick and easy to use. Joints are strong as the ad said. Bought mine in 2016 and still use it. Good for strong butt joins…. Designed and built this wall unit to create a temporary temporary bedroom an open plan living area of the house we were renting
Terrible – We were amazed at the demonstration, the ease in which he used it and how tidy everything was... But what we got was something else. A mess... So disappointing, we have tried going slow and fast. Different materials adjusting the tension but no such luck... this is the result
Complete waste of money – DO NOT BUY ! This just totally sucks, the clamp does not work instructions well enough said, the drill bit is very bad, and missing parts I was utterly disappointed, total waste of money, wished I had saved my money towards a Kreg
To paraphrase: This is Not perfect. Can live without it – The button on the thickness selector fell off. This occurred while wrestling with the clamp release which repeatedly managed to neither clamp nor release in any efficient manner. It is disappointing for the money it cost. It might have been tolerable as a "wait there's more" bonus on the Extra Pair of Hands which I can at least recommend as worth every cent. Perhaps the Join A Jig should be named along those lines, Extra Hole in Head.
Ok for a handyman – I purchased this although I found it pricey I used it to build a workbench it did its job, but if I could have it over again I would have bought a Kreg jig
used after a year sitting in the shed – My darling wife bought this for me last Christmas, I finally used it to make some slat doors for a book case. I found some of the instructions hard to understand what they meant in parts, the timber I was using was 18 mm the settings on the jig were 16mm then 19mm, the instructions never said in that case use the lower or higher setting. which I… Read more
would expect.
I found the clamp on the jig rubbish it might be better for larger thicknesses of wood, I used a block of scrap wood and found it no better, the wood slips, (clamp didn't hold it tight enough) but this didn't effect hole position in my case.
because the wood is not held tight enough when you drill it moves the wood.
The knob that adjusts the hole position came unscrewed with the vibration of the drill, it should have been glued in place at the factory
The play in the hole gauge part is sloppy.
The hole drilled was rough unsure if this is because of the thickness of the wood I was using.
The instructions on how to make things are just a stocking filler to justify the price and I suspect 99% fo them will not be used.
If I was going to purchase a jig again I'd be looking at the blue branded type as the clap looks stronger.
Joiner a Jig – Saw this product on the TV, it looked good. I got a shock when the Joiner A Jig performed nothing like what was presented on TV, nothing but overpriced junk manufactured in China. I was going to purchase the spare pair of hands, so after my experience with the Joiner A Jig, I researched the product reviews, I found exactly the same product in Queensland and $80.00 cheaper.
Low quality product and a waste of money!!! – Bought it after seeing the tv ad and tried it but the steel and the bits were of poor quality (soft). I found it more complicated to use than a normal drill and screw. A dowel jig is much quicker and simpler to use. Don't waste your money on it.
